George H.W. Bush Says He Did Not Agree to Diplomatic Mission With Bill Clinton
Nope, wouldn’t be prudent.
Former President George H.W. Bush is taking issue with statements made by Bill Clinton Monday that the duo would embark on a mission of diplomacy around the world if his wife is elected president.
Clinton reportedly made the statements in South Carolina, saying he and Bush would spread the message that “America is open for business and cooperation again,” implying that the former president would need to swoop in to repair diplomatic damage wrought by his son.

But George H.W. Bush’s Chief of Staff Jean Becker released a statement Tuesday saying he and Clinton have made no such plans - even though the two have grown close through charity work since their 1992 presidential election match up.
“Former President Bush wholeheartedly supports the president of the United States, including his foreign policy. He has never discussed an ‘around -the-world mission’ with either former President Bill Clinton or Sen. Clinton, nor does he think such a mission is warranted since he is proud of the role America continues to play around the world as the beacon of home for freedom and democracy,” Becker said. “President Bush is excited about several of the excellent Republican candidates running for President, and looks forward to supporting their candidacy once the Republican nominee is determined.”
Clinton’s comments were just his latest candid assessment of Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
In an interview with Charlie Rose on PBS Friday, Clinton played down expectations for his wife’s performance in the Iowa caucuses, saying it is a “miracle” she even has a chance in that state.
He also criticized rival Barack Obama as being too inexperienced to run for president and said voters would be taking a risk with him in the White House.

it’s funny to me to hear Bill Clinton say that voting Obamo into office would be a risk to the american people because of his lack of experience. did we not take that same risk with Bill? once again he engages his mouth without thinking. TIM
Congratulations, Brent — you are the Idiot of the Week.
The Clinton regime was one of the worst in our nation’s history. Remember, it was CLINTON, not Dubya, that had a chance to take out Bin Laden and decided it was more important to leave his man sauce on an intern’s dress. It was the CLINTONS who lied and spun and fed the world a bunch of crap about their personal dealings, the mysterious deaths, etc., not Dubya.
And now HITLARY is trying to sell a bill of goods about all the experience SHE has. Oh, you mean that experience in failing to help bring a decent health care plan to all Americans as you were reportedly doing during your husband’s eight years in charge (allegedly)? Hitlary claims to have 35 years of experience, and she’s right — 35 years of watching her husband in action, not actually doing a damn thing on her own.
I’m not saying Obama or McCain are the best options available for our next President. I will say this — Hitlary Clinton is not fit to be the assistant dog catcher in Podunk, Montana — let alone be leader of the free world. Anyone who votes for Clinton in the primary (or the general election if she gets through) is begging for the America that our forefathers fought and died for to be completely obliterated. We are headed for a Socialist way of life if that dimwit broad is elected President, plain and freaking simple.
Once again the come back kid starts his frabicating, looks like Daddy Bush dosen’t like it.
Show me a president with experience. With much respect for Pres. Clinton, I think his statement is not valid. Are we talking about experiecne or connections?
The majority of American presidents have not had experience but have done well. It is the substance in their character that makes them successful not experience.
I get sick every time I see either Bill or Hillary’s faces on the television. When I remember all of the lies, the “I don’t remembers” and the “I can’t recalls” and the slick dishonest actions of both of them, I just can’t see, for the life of me, see how decent people in this country can support them. Just the example of Bill, as he disgraced the office of President with immorality and lies sent a message to this country that all you have to do is do it if you want–and if you can’t lie out of it and have everyone believe it just say “I’m sorry” and it is forgotten and everyone loves you anyway. These people are after nothing more than your money! A legacy that has never been done! A husband and wife being President. Bush made history–a father and son being Presidents. They want to out do that and make history. Well, they are making history all right. Never in history has there ever been such a sneaking, coniving, lying, phoney grasping pair dominating our media. We can do better!!! Much better!!
Will someone just give Hillary, Bill and Obama a one way ticket to Aruba?
I agree with paul and Dave. Brent you are an idiot!!!
I agree with Dave…
Funny article!!! (This is a comedy website right?) People don’t really come here to find out if there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq -or- any actual facts. This is like Mad Magazine for judgemental church-goers, right?
I like the spin at the end. HW Bush has denied many things, even when we closely read his lips. Denying he’s son’s ‘influence’ on “America the Evil” is clearly something he would do, and Clinton wouldn’t be foolish enough to report otherwise.
The whole premise is so out of context and flawed that it’s only stirring up trouble. I am suprised HW even responded, if he actually did.
I’d just like to say that I am myself extremely liberal but I do realize bias in the news…that is on both sides. Everyone can choose to listen or watch which station they like, I like CNN and BBC and yes they are more liberal. Likewise FoxNews is very conservative. It is America which allows us to decide which view we would like to have. Listening to another’s opinion does not mean you agree and of course you don’t have to agree. But do not jump on someone’s throat for having a different opinion.
With that said I think it only fair that clearly different news sites report differently on an issue. It is a matter of picking and choosing but I feel that far too many are quick to judge without reading many if not all of the sides to an issue. Although this may stray far from the topic, those of you who fear Obama because of his “Islamic” ties have not looked at the facts. First there are over 2 billion Muslims in the world, I doubt a third of the world is plotting to kill Americans, second those Muslims that wage war against us are doing it on the basis of mistakes Americans have made in the past such as the Iran Contra scandal, the bombings of Iraq during the 90’s, and the constant support for the Israeli state which is perhaps the largest folly of our leaders. Third, Obama is not a Muslim but a member of the United Church of Christ. So for all of you right-winged Christian fanatics, which I myself was raised Christian, if you do not like Obama do not account it on him being a “Muslim” which he is far from. If you choose not to like a candidate do it for the right reasons such as one’s view of the economy, environment, and the current war on terrorism.
I’d also like to note on the side that issues such as abortion or stem cell research effect only those who wish to be involved in such actions. If you’re against abortion deal with it, it isn’t something you’ll have to deal with. Think of it this way, someone is against your certain religion. , of course it pisses you off but you know the truth, they don’t have to be your religion if they don’t want to. Stop trying to make laws that focus on petty matters so that America can grow and prosper. You all want to see this country be the greatest but when it’s citizens are at war on one minor issue that really doesn’t effect most of the nation, how can you expect this to be the greatest country. I realize my views are to the left but I also have listened to those on the other side. I would love for the rest of the country to do the same.
