George H.W. Bush Says He Did Not Agree to Diplomatic Mission With Bill Clinton
Nope, wouldn’t be prudent.
Former President George H.W. Bush is taking issue with statements made by Bill Clinton Monday that the duo would embark on a mission of diplomacy around the world if his wife is elected president.
Clinton reportedly made the statements in South Carolina, saying he and Bush would spread the message that “America is open for business and cooperation again,” implying that the former president would need to swoop in to repair diplomatic damage wrought by his son.

But George H.W. Bush’s Chief of Staff Jean Becker released a statement Tuesday saying he and Clinton have made no such plans - even though the two have grown close through charity work since their 1992 presidential election match up.
“Former President Bush wholeheartedly supports the president of the United States, including his foreign policy. He has never discussed an ‘around -the-world mission’ with either former President Bill Clinton or Sen. Clinton, nor does he think such a mission is warranted since he is proud of the role America continues to play around the world as the beacon of home for freedom and democracy,” Becker said. “President Bush is excited about several of the excellent Republican candidates running for President, and looks forward to supporting their candidacy once the Republican nominee is determined.”
Clinton’s comments were just his latest candid assessment of Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
In an interview with Charlie Rose on PBS Friday, Clinton played down expectations for his wife’s performance in the Iowa caucuses, saying it is a “miracle” she even has a chance in that state.
He also criticized rival Barack Obama as being too inexperienced to run for president and said voters would be taking a risk with him in the White House.

I think anyone who is actually thinking for Obama in this election should be commited and not allowed to see the light of day agian. This guy is a nut job! God help us all if he gets elected! We will become a third world country. He is inexperianced, and just looking to make a name for himself. He has been involved in politics all of about what ? Two years. I am not saying Hillary is a gift from the gods. Its pretty slim pickins when it comes to candidates here. But guys come on? Can we really allow some muslim freak in the white house. Did you love your grandfather’s or great grandfather’s ? Did you trust them ? I loved mine and trusted them. I know that they would never vote for this freak. He will ruin us. Bush has done enough damage. I hope people wake up and come to the light. McCain or Clinton is the only way to go this election. If Osama bama gets it. I caint even begin to think what would happen. I also think Bill Clinton is a great guy. He made mistakes as we all do! How many affairs are going on right now! His just got revealed to the american public. It was his business! Its not fair of you to call him slick willy. Your being childish and inmature and you yourself have probably steped out on your wife.. Should we call you slick? He never did anything to hurt us! The economy was wonderfull when he left office…. How is it now ?
How can we believe any of them? We no longer have a democratic form of government!
It is all a sham. Congress has an approval rating of 30% and Bush has 40%.
85% of the country wants border control and enforcement of EXISTING immigration laws.
The politicians are clearly against the will of the people here. They all push amnesty.
Where is the Democracy? Who are the patriots and who are the traitors? Politics is all
about power and the politicians have all become actors! The best performances gets elected,
get the power, and then the REAL agendas take control. Maybe we need a 3rd party.
None of the choices in our 2 party system represent the majority. We are stuck with holding our noses and voting for the one who we think, will do the least amount of damage.
This is awesome!! Thats whats great about this country, we have the right to voice our opinions and share them. Everyone has an opinion and we should respect that versus criticize it. With that said, I’m still trying to figure out what 35 years of experience Hillary has? The only political experience I’m aware of is her time spent as a US Senator for the state of New York, which has been less then 10 years. I’m still waiting for them Dems that where placed in office over a year ago and how they were going to change this country around and kick butt on the White House. These aren’t exact words but I do remember the Speaker of the House Pelori saying how the country will change and get us out of Iraq and this was during Bush’s lowest approval rating. Shortly there after and after the newly elected Congressional body went to work they received and even lower rating then the President. So whose lying, the Politicians, I haven’t seen one that didn’t. To say that Bill and Hillary never lie would be misleading. Her crying act in New Hampshire was quite an acting job. Do you want a President that will cry because she didn’t get her way? I don’t!! Did you all forget about the all the stuff the Clintons were taking from the White House on there way out! What a bunch of thieves!! Bill and Hillary just don’t have a clue!
Why is no one questioning why Slick Willie is doing ALL of the campaigning for his wife? I don’t recall seeing his name on any of the ballots… as it is, it’s bad enough that this country is running the risk of seeing Hillary’s cackling face for 4-8 years.
For those individuals out there who are not only narrow-minded enough to think that all Muslims are terrorists (as opposed to Wahabiist Muslims like bin Laden, who are not really Muslim, just extremist nutjobs) and who think that having Obama as president will be good for terrorists’ morale (cough cough Steve King), consider this: Al Qaeda’s numbers are up because of the continued US presence in Iraq and Afghanistan, a presence which is not only costing the USA in terms of troop losses, but is also worsening the already bad problem of hunger and drug use in these countries… DESPERATE PEOPLE DO DESPERATE THINGS. Also, imagine what countries already predisposed to be anti-American will react like when they are forced to deal with an antagonistic shrew like Hillary… it can only end badly.
I have been a Republican since I first registered to vote and am proud to call myself a supporter of Obama in this election. I am embarrassed by what this so-called War on Terror has done to the credibility and honor of this country and am frightened beyond belief to think what another Clinton in the White House will do to further destroy it. Barack Obama, though he may not be as experienced as McCain is and Hillary claims she is (another reason not to vote for her… to use Hillary’s SNL reference against her, remember the quip of Seth Meyers on last week’s SNL: “‘How is she [Hillary] ever going to be ‘ready on Day One’ if she takes 31 days just to warm up?’”), he is the most level-headed candidate for President and, I believe, the most likely candidate to repair the enormous rift between Republicans and Democrats.
Obama was sworn in as senator using the Holy Bible. That he used the Koran ia a bald face lie
To John, in regards to those who automatically associate being a Christian to being a republican. I am a republican, but I am a Christian first. I know many republicans who (untruthfully) claim to be Christian. I also know many Christians who proudly claim to be democrats. I am not Party bashing, truly I’m not, but I find it difficult to understand how a Christian can stand behind, and vote, the democratic party. Again, please believe me, I am not bashing. I am trying to understand how. And understand what I am trying to say. It is NOT the democratic individual itself, but the party and it’s policies, I object to. As you stated, we all sin and fall short of His glory. It is by His grace alone that we even have the opportunity to sit and agree or disagree as we are. It is the democratic party who pushes to legalize abortian, embrionic stem cell research, and gay marriages. How can someone who professes to love the Lord also vote in someone who will push for these issues to be made commonplace in our country? It clearly states in the Word that murder is a sin. We all know that abortian is murder. It clearly states in the Word that homosexuality is a sin. Hate the sin, but love the sinner. We are commanded to follow that law. We are not to knowlingly or willfully propergate sin. Voting in a president who will legalize homosexuality and continue to legalize abortian is willfully disobeying God. Maybe Clinton and Obama are good people. They claim to be Christians. I am not objecting to them personally, just to their possible presidency. I don’t want someone who believes in homosexuality, gay marriage and abortian to be the leader of this country. I also don’t want someone who has ties to the Muslim religion in there. That terrifies me. I voted for Bush Jr. I stand behind him fully. I am not saying that every decision he has made has been right, or even what I wanted. But on the most fundamental issues, he lines up with my personal beliefs. And for the most part, so does the Republican party. For the most part. On the most important and fundamental issues the party lines up with my beliefs. Yes, there are some crummy republicans. But I’d prefer a crummy republican who won’t push gay marriage or fight to take God out of everywhere, to a nice upstanding democrat who is a wonderful parent, but will open the door for less stringent abortian laws and gay marriages. We should weigh what good against the bad. Clinton shouldn’t be voted in so we can finally have a female in that Office. Obama shouldn’t be voted in so we can have the first Black President. Those are not reasons to give someone the power of the Presidency. I might invite Obama into my home to get to know him, but I would never invite him into the Presidency. I might invite Clinton into my home to see what makes her tick, but I wouldn’t want her running the country I call home. McCain wasn’t my first choice for president but he is what I’m stuck with. There is much I don’t like about him. But I know how where he stands on the issues most important to me. I am praying that God puts his hand on McCain and leads him into the Presidency. But the outcome is in His will, not mine.
Thank you for letting me share my opinion.
SO WHAT! yes it ticks me off. this does not relate to the campaign. but go G.H.B. show mr. “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.” who’s boss
It seems the Clintons will use anyone and everything they can to be elected. I do not trust Clinton because he lied to the American people once and that means he will do it again, and again. I do however trust the words of President George H.W. Bush and the current President Bush. The current President Bush did not lie about the situation in Iraq, because if he did then all the Senators and Congressmen that saw the same intel reports and voted for this Iraq war are all liars including Senator Clinton who voted to go to Iraq.
To bryguy214:
Interesting stance on thinking that a majority of Republicans are Christians. There are also a sizeable number of Democrats who are conservative Christians as well. Even within our own Senate and Congress there is a group of Christian Democrats for example. It is very dangerous to think that to be a Christian you have to be a Republican. In addition, never use God’s Word to make Republicans look better than everyone else. This is like making them all self righteous like the Pharisees. Both Democrats and Republicans are sinners and must repent daily. Everyone needs Jesus Christ! Remember that Our Heavenly Father is not a Republican or a Democrat! He is the one true God! I certainly will not make the Democrats out to better than anyone else. Jesus stated in John 12:47 that he “did not come to judge the world but to save it.” Our Savior does not want us to judge one another and if we do, then we will be judged also. Check out Matt. 7:1-2. Never judge those who belong to the Democratic party or anyone else. We all fall short the glory of God and must confess our sins and by faith believe on the name of the Son of God!
Bill’s reason for that comment is that he feels if Hillary is elected, telling her he’s going on a diplomatic mission around the world with George Sr. she will let him go, what better ’shaparone’ could he get. But we all know whats on Bills mind. First Stop: Amsterdam
