Tom Tancredo to Drop Out of Presidential Race

Border

Republican presidential candidate Tom Tancredo plans to drop out of the race during an announcement Thursday afternoon in Des Moines, Iowa, GOP sources close to the campaign have told FOX News.

Tancredo, who has aggressively pushed his anti-illegal immigration message throughout the GOP primary race, has not been able to break through in the polls against his better known competitors. He and California Rep. Duncan Hunter typically poll in the single digits behind Texas Rep. Ron Paul in national surveys.

Tancredo would not personally confirm whether he will pull out of the race.

“I will neither confirm nor deny that report,” Tancredo told FOX News. But he  added, “I wouldn’t have a press conference if I didn’t have anything to say.”

The five-term Colorado representative already announced in late October that he would not seek reelection to the House of Representatives in 2008. He said at the time that his core issue of illegal immigration has been elevated to national prominence and that he doesn’t need to remain in Congress to promote it.

Tancredo aired a startling ad a month ago tying illegal immigration to terrorism. The ad showed a man in a hooded sweatshirt and backpack walking into a crowded shopping mall, with the sound of an explosion ringing out after the screen goes dark. The ad then showed bloody pictures of victims of terrorist acts in Europe, while the narrator said: “The price we pay for spineless politicians who refuse to defend our borders against those who come to kill.”

Tancredo focused on the issue at the Republican presidential debate a week ago in Iowa, saying immigration without assimilation is a “catastrophe.”

He also refused to participate in a Spanish-language debate on Univision in early December. He told FOX News he did not want to encourage immigrants in America to speak Spanish as their primary language.

FOX News’ Carl Cameron and Chad Pergram contributed to this report.

Oh what a suprise a bunch of Mexicans and leftist goons calling Tom Tancredo a racist. If Chinese where flooding Mexico and replacing the Mexicans it would be called a catastrophe, dare say even a genodice Her is what the UN Says about Genocide “Generally speaking, genocide does not necessarily mean the immediate destruction of a nation, except when accomplished by mass killings of all members of a nation. It is intended rather to signify a coordinated plan of different actions aiming at the destruction of essential foundations of the life of national groups, with the aim of annihilating the groups themselves. The objectives of such a plan would be the disintegration of the political and social institutions, of culture, language, national feelings, religion, and the economic existence of national groups, and the destruction of the personal security, liberty, health, dignity, and even the lives of the individuals belonging to such groups.” That is exactly what is happening the United States since the traitors led by Ted Kennedy sold out this country in the 1960’s, and what is happening to countries of European people all over the world. Colonialism was called one of the greatest evils ever in history, along with the many holocausts that have occured. It is very ironic that when it comes to white people that no such consideration is taken. It is considered morally good when white nations are destroyed demographically and socially and is called progressive. We all know who is behind it to, the same people who were ultimately behind communism, but are just too afraid to say. Admit it libs and La Razans, you are as racist as you claim Tom Tancredo to be, even moreso. Tom Tancredo is not calling for Mexicans to be deprived of their own country , which is Mexico, but you scum would sure like to see mainstream European Americans suffer. White Americans have a right not to be politically dispossed in the country their forefathers founded, and African American’s who were brought here as slaves have a right not to become even more of a minority in their own nation. A balkanization of America is what is the future of all this unchecked immigration, and that is good for no one.

Tom Tancredo’s stance on immigration was his strong point, but it was his only strong point. In every other way, Tancredo was very much in line with the Bush Administration and the neo-cons who don’t have the best interest of the country at heart. There is only one candidate in the entire election that really America first and that is Ron Paul. I hope some of you Tancredo supporters will take a minute to check out Dr Paul and realize that he is the true candidate for America. Dr Paul may not be as hardline as Tancredo on immigration. Dr Paul feels that a certain amount of immigrants and temporary workers with valuable skills can be good for America, but he is definitely agaist the mass flooding of our nation with unskilled workers who drain our coffers and not only drain our coffers, but weaken our social fabric. There are 300 million legal Americans in this nation, this is not a lightly populated, primarily rural country in need of a large labor force like was the case in the 19th and early 20th century. We simply cannot take on the amount of immigrants who would like to come to this country, it is just not feasable any longer. Our government estimates our population growth will double by the year 2100 under current trends. That is near 600 million people with the majority of that growth expected to come from unskilled immigration from the 3rd word or children born from 3rd world immigrants. That is a population bomb folks. You think these are getting bad now. You think our social services are strained now. You haven’t seen anything yet. America is not an idea that some of the traitors on our own shores have stated. The United States of America is the nation of the American people. We are not a revolving door for the worlds poor. We are not a meal ticket to those who want to come suckle off our wealth. I’m sorry to the poor in the 3rd world I really am, but you have your own countries, we cannot afford to take all of you. The third world must do more for its own people and stop using America as a pressure relief valve. It is ultimately up to the peoples of downtrodden nations to better their own nations.

Tancredo is a man who should be commended for his actions in bringing forth the issue of illegal immigration and its consequences to the forefront. My father is the grandson of scottish/german immigrants and my mother is a immigrant from Mexico. Using my dear mother as an example, she came to this country at the age of 19….legally. She has learned the language, done well (earned her B.A and an advanced degree) and is now a English teacher. My mother, who speaks Spanish and English Fluently (as do I), loves this country with all her heart and embraces the ideals of this nation. As she tells me “It is the values and ethics of this nation that made me come to this great country in the first place”. She integrated into the United States and is loyal to this nation. Whenever people ask her what she is, she tells them “I am an American, and thankful to be an American”. Even more so, my wife’s parents are Punjabi (Indian) immigrants and they love this country also. They are devoted to this nation and have raised their children, including my wife, to love the ideals and values of this nation. As my mother-in law told me, “This great nation has given us everything”. I honor my family for there strength and I am sad to see the depature of Tancredo. Hopefully the message of America stays strong, and the balkanization of america ends with immigrants looking honoring this great country, and not the former residence of a nation that they left behind. Value what you are given, and you shall be praised for being humble.

Good riddance. Tancredo is a racist and I bet most people who uncritically defend him are equally racist.

San Diego resident, since most responders agree with the sentiment that Tancredo is a racist, and nearly all of the remainders are apologetic defenses of his racism, that leaves you as the only poster with intelligent thought who is NOT echoing the popular sentiment. I see you value securing US borders and guarding against ILLEGAL immigration. No, wanting to secure borders does not make you racist. Sure, you very well *may* be racist, as I do not know you at all and can not make that judgement, but I honestly do not think you are racist. It seems your concern is unguarded borders and ILLEGAL immigration.

The racists are the ones who really want to stop Mexican immigration (legal or otherwise) altogether, fearing that racially mestizo Spanish-speaking immigrants are going to somehow “undermine the White Race” and the “Anglo culture”. It is clear from the context that Tancredo IS a racist (that seems to be his only concern). Same goes for Duncan Hunter. I do not see massive Mexican immigration in and of its itself as a threat to this nation, a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, one. I do grant however, that ILLEGAL immigration poses a serious security threat to the United States.

If you are truly concerned about border security and illegal immigration, I seriously suggest supporting Ron Paul. He is the only Republican candidate who opposes amnesty for illegal aliens (besides that fascist Duncan Hunter, who is probably going to drop out soon and certainly should). The “elite six” darlings of the liberal and neocon medias (Giuliani, Thompson, Romney, McCain, Huckabee) all support amnesty for illegal aliens. But unlike Tom Tankkkredo and Dunkkkan Hunter, Dr. Ron Paul is NO RACIST! Ron Paul wants the National Guard surveying US borders. He wants to end amnesty and welfare benefits for illegal immigrants. I think that he is a little weak on immigration reform as of now, but that is a later priority. The first is border security. Bottom line, Ron Paul is not anti-immigrant. He is just against illegal immigrants. As a side benefit of a competent border patrol (which need not involve a Great Wall of China type structure lined with machine-guns). This would not only discourage illegal immigration, but it would also DEFEND American land from drug traffickers and potential terrorists.

A sensible immigration policy should allow as many foreign immigrants in as possible, provided they enter in an orderly (and legal) fashion. The steps to solving this problem are guarding borders, removing incentives to immigrate illegally, and making LEGAL immigration easier. It is important, however, not to repeat the racist anti-immigration laws and policies in effect in late-19th century/early-20th century America.

Another concern is the apparent refusal of certain immigrant groups to assimilate or at least earn English. It is not right to strip people of their culture, however it is important for long-term residents to speak some minimum of the language to communicate and get by. Of course complaining about Spanish-language programming such as Telemundo is too far! (Would that racist Tancredo advocate canceling all the stations broadcasting in Polish, Urdu, Tagalog, and Korean, or just those broadcasting in Spanish?)

There are three possible solutions. The Fascist solution (no heart but no brain), the Liberal solution (big heart but no brain), and a Third Way (with a heart and a brain). The Fascist solution, no doubt endorsed by scum such as Mikkkael Savage, the Minutemen, and Tancredo, consists of FORCEFULLY ASSIMILATING all immigrants (or rather all immigrants of a specific subgroup, Mexican-Americans for instance), using state pressure to strip them of their culture and adhere to a strict conformity, or else deport them for failure to comply.

The Liberal solution, on the other extreme, is a kind and tolerant policy, but makes us all a dormat. It consists of opening the gates, but not requiring immigrants to speak the language or otherwise settle in. This policy, though noble in intention, causes endless problems stemming from groups unable to integrate and fully function within society. This is the policy of the Democrats, but also the neocon Republicans.

There is a sensible solution which is neither “fascist” nor “liberal” but might qualify as conservative or libertarian. This entails respectfully embracing foreigners, but giving them an incentive to learn some basic proficiency in the language, and to have some minimum of familiarity with the history of this country. How do we encourage immigrants to learn to understand, speak, read, and write English, and to take other steps towards integration, so as to better contribute to society? The answer is to use MARKET FORCES to pressure people of foreign origin to learn the language and participate in their new country. Such a technique requires neither authoritarian repressive measures and draconian penalties nor bending over backwards. This approach uses INCENTIVES rather than coercion.

It is actually a simple solution! Abolish affirmative action and reduce, minimize, or eliminate welfare for illegals or special welfare for immigrants. This would force immigrants to cooperate fully with society, without applying statist force-of-arms. Think about it. With significant cut backs on handouts, immigrants would have to find productive work. But to do that, they would have to learn some level of English required for such work and follow the laws. This would push immigrants toward pursuing some basic level of EDUCATION with which to advance in their work and life, and it would encourage them to integrate with their neighbors. Such economic motivators make coercion redundant. At the same time we can be a kind host while maintaining DIGNITY. This way, immigrants can keep their culture and identity and still communicate with and contribute to American society.

And that is Ron Paul’s stand. For more information on this subject, read Dr. Paul’s writings on the subject at http://www.ronpaul2008.com

So if you are concerned for the safety of American borders and wish to seek a mutually beneficial solution to the immigration crisis, there is only one sensible solution.

RON PAUL ‘08

Tancredo should stay in the race. There are probably many more planning to vote for him than he thinks. I hope America isn’t a country that only gives the chance to be President to those who have millions of dollars to run for the office.

Congressman Tancredo is NOT a racist but an American Patriot and one whose goal it was to get America to realize there is a problem.

Check out the link below and why the 2nd Tier candidates are being ignored and the tactics used. It is about Dr. Paul but it would work for any candidate that the MSM did not want to win.

We The People have spoken and will NOT let the LSM(LameStream Media) stop us from taking over our country and do NOT need them because we use the New Media, the internet.

Tancredo stay with us! Stay strong like French ‘anti’ leader JM Le Pen, now 78 but still going strong(er), lets reshape America patriotically together!

Looks like the whole 1% supporting Tancredo is here for role call. They just don’t get it, they and he represent the fringe. That’s what his poll numbers mean and that’s why he’s quitting.

Attention Tancredo apologists and supporters, 99% of Republicans don’t think like you do. Who’s really lacking insight here?

Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, John Kerry, Edward Kennedy, John Edwards & Hillary Clinton are all power mongers with lots of money. It’s difficult to grasp their potential for empathy of the black man on the street in Watts. Barack and Hillary both had educational opportunities most of us could but dream of. Be sure you check their voting records when making your decisions.

Giuliani worked with the Mexican Government on the Superhighway SEARCH 600-mile Trans Texas Corridor — by turning public roads over to private interests, good bye sovereignty, McCain openly desires open border, Fred Thompson voted to expand NAFTA, he’s a GLOBALIST, good bye American jobs. Huckabee “Governor Huckabee is known nationally as an illegal alien’s best friend!” read, Mike Huckabee’s Shamnesty for Illegal Aliens! Mitt Romney, on Immigration isn’t the man that he is attempting to present himself to be based on his past policies.

Duncan Hunter like Tom Tancredo is on the side of the American worker aligned with the average American against illegal immigration, he even believes English should be our official language-not true for ANY of the Dems.

Be very wary, see how everybody voted to help determine what might happen if elected.

The MAN is Congressman Tom Tancredo; he is a man of conviction and principal. I don’t believe he wanted the job but wants the best for America and Americans. Rather than parroting the hard-line blather look up Mr. Tancredo on the issues. Under his lead we would have retained American jobs. Tom was not a one-issue candidate but he is the one candidate that is honest enough to tell you that illegal immigration affects every other domestic issue. If you didn’t notice illegal immigration was the only issue that he was asked about which could be why you formed the one issue idea you have. Some of his other positions include:

Voted NO on permanent normalized trade relations with China. (Nov 2007)
Enforce trade & currency rules against China. (Oct 2007)
CAFTA should be about trade; get rid of immigration parts. (Oct 2007)
Don’t diminish sovereignty in hopes of influencing trade. (Sep 2007)
No NAFTA Superhighway from Canada to Mexico. (Sep 2007)
Strong immigration stance costs PAC and corporate support. (Jun 2006)
It’s racist to say integration needed to educate black kids. (Sep 2007)
Supports charter schools and voucher systems. (Sep 2007)
Welfare hurts family; families teach morals & discipline. (Sep 2007)
Voted YES on establishing nationwide AMBER alert system for missing kids. (Apr 2003)

Now that the Congressman will be leaving the presidential race look and see what a good man you poo-pooed.

Tancredo has been my hero for a number of years; one could always count on him to be truthful and not waffle. When he spoke it was with conviction and he has served the country admirably. I have consistently been disappointed at the low ratings he has received in the polls, when he is the very one that has been our spokesman on the damages that is occurring in this country by those who are here illegally, refusing to assimilate, and being a drain on our local and federal government. Those of you who want to believe Tom is a racist are simply lost, and that’s YOUR problem!
