‘Phony’ Romney Given ‘Anti-Endorsement’ by New Hampshire Newspaper
MILFORD, N.H. — The Concord Monitor broke with political tradition Sunday, telling readers in the state with the first presidential primary why they should not vote for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney instead of whom they should support. In a scathing anti-endorsement that called Romney a “disquieting figure,” the New Hampshire newspaper’s editorial board said he looks and acts like a presidential contender but “surely must be stopped” because he lacks the core philosophical beliefs to be a trustworthy president.
In particular, the newspaper noted the former Massachusetts governor’s change of heart on such issues as abortion rights, stem-cell research and access to emergency contraception, as well as on signing an anti-tax pledge.
“When New Hampshire partisans are asked to defend the state’s first-in-the-nation primary, we talk about our ability to see the candidates up close, ask tough questions and see through the baloney. If a candidate is a phony, we assure ourselves and the rest of the world, we’ll know it,” the newspaper said. “Mitt Romney is such a candidate. New Hampshire Republicans and independents must vote no.”
Romney’s campaign sloughed off the criticism and instead pointed to his endorsement Sunday by the Sioux City Journal in Iowa, the state whose Jan. 3 caucuses kick off the presidential nominating process. Romney also has been stumping hard in New Hampshire ahead of its Jan. 8 primary, including stops here and in two other communities on Sunday.
“The Monitor’s editorial board is regarded as a liberal one on many issues, so it is not surprising that they would criticize Governor Romney for his conservative views and platform,” said Romney spokesman Kevin Madden. “Governor Romney has taken firm positions that are at odds with the board’s support for driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants, their position against school choice and their advocacy for taking `Under God’ out of the Pledge of Allegiance. The governor happens to disagree with the editorial board on all those issues.”
In its endorsement, the Iowa newspaper said: “Romney combines an outsider’s new face with a proven track record of success as an executive in both the private and public sectors. …Personally, he is engaging, even charming, he has shown an ability to reach across partisan divides, and he is passionate on the campaign trail. In terms of leadership qualities, he possesses ‘it,’ and the importance of ‘it’ should not be diminished.”
yep! he’s completely phoney. its obvious. he even claims watching his dad support the civil rights movement at a time when his religion was against it. complete hogwash. he would be a scary candidate in the general election.
Of course a liberal paper would come out against Mitt Romney. He is the canidate that looks the best when compared to the scandals of democratic counterpart especially if its Clinton. This paper fears Romney. Although I really like Guliani this scandals in the lives of guliani or hucklebee would leave voters feeling like we get more of the same no matter who we choose. And to say Mitt Romney “lacks the core philosophical beliefs to be a trustworthy president” they must mean because Mitt Romney doesnt follow through on his campaign promises he has only fufilled 100 of the 100 made, oh wait thats all of them. Maybe they mean because he doesn’t believe in Marriage as seen by his family life, umm well that cant be it either his family is the model of virtue and values. I know, they must have meant this friend of his that tells how his daughter was missing so he called Romney. Mitt Romney shut down his huge business for 3-4 days bused all of his employees out to new york. set up a grid of the city and working with the police distrubuted fliers to the city and searched out and found Romney’s friend’s missing daughter. Yeah thats one untrustworthy canidate, with absolutely no philosophical beliefs.
my goodness, adam, you are right on the money! i could not have expressed it more accurately. i don’t believe everything i read or hear, but i do believe in Mitt. in swedish Mitt is an expression of personal ownership, ie. the word,’ mine’, and so it is with Romney. he is mine…my candidate. i think, without knowing him personally, believe him to be the most trustworthy candidate that is currently running for their party’s nomination on either side!
Preach On Brother Romney!
What in the world is the Concord Monitor scared of? Mitt Romney is not claiming to be the perfect person with a perfect tract record in politics. In fact, he is running on his ability to get the big jobs done under the heaviest of scrutiny possible. He brought trust and glory back into the olympics in 2002. In doing so, he also in some ways helped a nation experience something great during a difficult and painful time. Yes, he should be credited with leading in the front one of the most remarkable international olympics ever. He runs on business savy and experience, which should encourage voters who think soley from their pocketbooks. His changes in politics demonstrate that a real person with a real conscience can realize that he is wrong on issues and can change. If you are looking for a man who is 100% consistent in making sure his political slate is unchanging, than Romney is not your man. He faced heavy scrutiny with his positive political changes on issues of abortion, and stem cell research, ect. He matured in his political thoughts and actions and when he was actually faced with tough decisions that would affect the outcomes of life, he broke with the politically convienient thought of the state he was governing and stood up for life! This was probably political suicide if he wanted to remain governer under the same pretences that he ran for. However, a greater leader and champion of issues such as life was born. A champion who cares deeply about the constitution and preserving the american way of life, liberty and the pursuit of hapiness. Mitt can not be everything to everyone. But he will work hard to ensure that everyone in this country is safe, secure, and can breathe freely the air of liberty to learn, grow, and overcome those things that would get in our way of being a truly great nation. He was able to learn and to grow. It is crazy that we are critisizing that. My hope is that we can look within and search our hearts and use our heads to choose a leader that is not afraid to change when he knows he is wrong in his heart. Mitt is taking a stand for life. And I stand with Mitt, and hope that he will take his humility and his confidence with him to the White House in January 2009.
The only thing phony about this is the Concord Monitor. They’re such a left-leaning bag of yellow journalism that any thinking American should support Romney, who is, in my opinion, the best candidate running in this election, and perhaps the most qualified running in the past century. Of course they’re afraid of Romney–when Donna Brazil, Gore’s campaign manager for the 2000 election, was asked a few years ago who Democrats feared most in this election cycle for president, her immediate answer was Romney. So it isn’t surprising the Concord Monitor would break tradition and come out with this anti-endorsement. They’re just a shill for the liberal Democratic cause and any thinking American knows it.
Yea - Romney will get the nomination.
If you are an American , and if you are a Republican voter/conscience voter, and a Christian then you have become a prey for the Democrats to silence them from mentioning Jesus Christ even at Christmas. Most major stores have no mention of Christmas or songs with the word Christmas in them; but they want Christians to shell out their Christmas money so that their till will overflow with “Christ-mas Money.” Liberals and the media wish that Christians would just die or go away;… “Christians” will multiply all the more and will be here forever, so get over it! Christians are not to agree with wrong/evil. Christians … Democrat or Republican love all mankind,…but hate the errors that many of the Republican and Democrats commit in their district, to their self and to this Nation. Halloween and witches are fine with the liberals but not Thanksgiving and Christmas and and not to mention The Holy Scriptures! Liberals consider GOD/Jehovah/Jesus a problem. Well all I have to say is that you fully taken it up with GOD/Jesus/Jehovah. You server whoever and whatever you will;…you have that right to do so. Christians deserves the same freedom as you to serve their known JEVOAH/LORD GOD/ALMIGHTY/JESUS CHRIST.
Again we have news media stepping out of their proper role of reporting news. I don’t believe newspapers or broadcast stations shoule endorse or oppose any candidates. All I want is the facts!
The second to last paragraph should have been the first or second paragraph and the we would have understood the article better instead of waiting to get there. What else would you expect from such a liberal group>
The NH newspaper hit the bull eyes on this article. Phony Mitt Romney needs to be stopped. Americans can tell a real plastic phony when they see one. He Flip Flops on issues constantly, he’s constantly throwing stones at other candidates and he’s more worried about himself than the American citizens.
Look up in the dictionary a “stuffy phony filthy rich beaurcratic red tape politican” and you’ll see Mitt Romney’s picture by the definition. The first thing he wants to do if he was elected president is post that big picture of himself in the oval office.
If you think Katrina was bad in getting financial aid, just imagine how much worse Mitt Romney will make it. He won’t go out and see the Katrina victims and rush to get them financial aid, he will send his lawyers out to the Katrina victims. Then they will type of rems of red tape beaurcratic non-sense contracts that take 3 years to sign and 7 different places in the state to be signed. Mitt Romney is sooooo full of red tape and beaurcratic non-sense, it would take America back 50 years if he was elected.
The Concord, NH newspaper got it right . Romney is a terrible candidate who would be ripped to
shreds in a general election . does anyone think military veterans would vote for this egomaniac
when he says none of his sons have served in the U.S. Military but they are serving their country by helping him get elected President of the United States . His ‘ genius ‘ is better suited
to selling used cars and being a spokeman for The Men’s Wearhouse .
Again we see why news in print is losing ground. The Concord Monitor, a prime example of opinion trying to be made into fact via the liberal press. Anything or anybody that has to do with a religous belief that guides their life is a threat to this small but vocal group of secular progressive zelots. If you disagree with them or change an opinion differing from their’s this article is what you get.
Thank Kolob for free speech. If the Monitor was liberal, they’d be endorsing Romney. This guys a North Eastern fraud right down to his undies.
So “Slick Hillary” gets a pass…After she’s vacillated on every single issue?
Estes Baxter
This is just another attempt by an ultra-liberal publication to trash the man they know is easily their biggest obstacle to the presidency. It’s amazing how this article has been picked up by the DNC/Liberal main stream press as if it’s GOSPEL!
Mitt Romney is far from being a phony and is a great family man of upstanding integrity and achievements. As governor of Taxachusetts, he had to deal with a legislature/senate that is 85% controlled by socialist liberals and did a very admirable job. Just the fact that he got elected governor in such a far left state says a LOT about Mitt Romney. As far as the “flip-flopper” label…well, those of you out there who have never changed their views on anything, please raise your hands.
I lived in MA while he was governor and I can attest to his quality leadership.
Has anyone noticed that the DNC hasn’t put out ANYTHING negative about Gomer Huckabee? Why do you think that is? He certainly has a LOT of dirt/baggage in his record. As AR governor, he was soft on ILLEGAL immigration, raised taxes, freed hundreds of criminals, etc.
When I didn’t know better, I was a democrat, believed in recycling to save the planet, abortion, etc. Now that I’ve “grown up”, I realize how utterly STUPID everything liberal truly is. Anyone foolish enough to buy into the trashing of Mitt Romney deserves what they get and will definitely get what they deserve if he isn’t the next president.
Mitt Romney
The Monitor is not trying to state fact- endorsements are by definition ‘opinion’ and that’s why their normally found on the op-ed pages. If anyone is confusing opinion with fact it is the evangelicals, who put forth the Bible as literal truth, rather than inspirational parable. When the Founders of this nation codified the separation of church and state in our Constitution, it was out of a deep appreciation of the dangers of mixing politics and religion, and was an effort to ensure that politics is untainted by religion and remains secular, as it should. Politics is about the fairest and best governance of the greates number of us earthbound individuals through earthly law. Religion is for nourishment of the spirit and saving souls. When did people forget the difference? Signed, Liberal Zealot
My previous message should end with “Go Mitt Romney”…I can assure you I’m NOT Mitt Romney!
Let the people vote their own mind and the newspapers kept out of the primary!!! Report the news but don’t tall us us who no to vote for!!!
I hope the people of NH are smart then when the newspaer report think they are. if so we are in big trouble!!
How disingenerous. If they were bothered about politicians changing positions, they should of been wriiting this editioral for every Presidential Election about most of the Democratic Canidates and should of wrote this one about Hillery Clinton instead of Mitt Romney this time around. I started paying attention to Presidential Elections starting with Ford and Carter, and I thought I was a Democrate at that time when I graduated from college. Once I started listening. the Democrates always say what they think the electorite want to hear, not what they believe, and will change what they say as needed.
Slick Huck is a product of the most corrupt institution in America today, America’s liberal wolfpack press. The wolfpack has provided 10’s of millions of “in-kind” contributions to Slick Huck’s campaign through their own air time……WHY? The wolfpack wants anyone but Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney scares the Demcrats and their close corrupt pals in our liberal wolfpack press to death. You even had an American newspaper “Concord” go out of its way yesterday to “attack” Mitt Romney in a “first of its kind” ANTI-ENDORSEMENT. This is really sad indeed and truly shows how desparate the corrupt liberals that make up 90% of the MSM wolfpack are………..Mitt Romney will go on to win in Iowa and New Hampshire and be the GOP nominee fro president because he is by far the most qualified candidate with a “record” of accomplishments. All Americans should watch our liberal wolfpack press in the next couple weeks as they intensify their efforts to smear, lie, and distortion “information” on Mitt Romney. Kind of reminds us all of Germany 1938 doesn’t it? Where am I wrong?
I never take the Concord Monitor seriously, the paper dose not serve the whole state. The Union Leader is the only state wide paper. I would expect the Concord area and its liberal population ( many transplants from Mass) would take the paper as gospel. Remember we must measure apples with apples not the Concord Monitor.
It’s funny in a way how liberals love and accept all views EXCEPT the ones that oppose them!
What makes this news paper think they are smater than the American people. These guys are
are fools to think this will influence the voters. In fact this could have the opposite effect. We can figure this out for ourselves thank you. Print the news, don’t make it up.
His father was a limo-liberal and so is he. His father devistated the state of Michigan with liberal tax and spend policies and MITT did the same for Mass. I don’t trust him.
No news agency whether it be newspaper, tv or radio has the right to suggest how people should vote.
They should print proven facts only and let the voters decide.
Concord Monitor goes too far, seems to be more a religious decision than political
Sure sounds like vengeance to me. What the Concord Monitor board is saying is that someone should never change their mind or alter the original opinion even when more information is learned. That change makes a person a phony? Maybe those same Concord Monitor board members should run for president since they obviously have never had a change of heart on anything.
Mitt Romney has more integrity than ANY candidate running. IF he changes his mind, it is due to diligent thought on the matter. The board must have there head somewhere else that on the election.
And there are many in the media that will argue they are objective…..bulls*().
If the paper claims to expose when a “candidate is a phoney” - then where is their alarm on Hillary Clinton?? Clinton (actually both Bill and Hill) are experts in the phoney department. This is just more convenient reporting from the liberal media. I’m not a Romney fan, but this report is the usual garbage.
How can a newspaper use the sentence “looks and acts like a presidential contender but ’surely must be stopped’” because the candidate “lacks the core philosophical beliefs to be a trustworthy president” and NOT be talking about Hilary Rodham Clinton? That describes her well, except that her flip-flop list is much, much longer.
I’m okay with Romney’s beliefs changing as he watched how abortion has brought about destructive tendencies in our society (when a woman does it twice in one year, it is only a form of birth control to her, and not the heartbreaking, tough choice Whoopie would have you believe). It is when politicians change their beliefs based on political winds and particular far-left advocacy groups, rather than determining what is best for our country as a whole, and remaining steadfast even when decisions seem unpopular, that they demonstrate no core beliefs. I agree wholeheartedly, that type of person must be stopped.
He is kind, honest, tough, fair, successful, and a true leader. I support Mitt Romney for President.
OUR ELECTION LAWS ARE FLAWED..WHEN A MAN RUNS FOR OFFICE, WE DO NOT KNOW IF HE IS LYING TO US..IF HE DOES A TURNAROUNF ONCE IN OFFICE, WE NEED AN EFFECTIVE WAY OF REMOVING HIM…ITS TOO BAD MOSTLY LAWYERS RUN FOR OFFICE, WE ALL KNOW WHAT LIARS THEY ARE..
Newspapers endorsements are as valuable as the paper they are written on. Besides if someone has to make their decision based upon what a newspsper says, they’ll vote only for a Democrat anyhow. At least those of us who investigate on our own will have the confidence to vote for who WE decide, not some elitest rag monger who posits their agenda and doesn’t report real news.
Wether I vote for Romney or not, is irrelevant when it comes to a paper and it’s editorial board who seeks to undermine the very foundation in which this country was created. “Under God” belongs in the Pledge and these Atheistic Socialists are the ones that need to be removed, though they hide in the propaganda engine that facilitates their personal agenda. Bah Humbug to New Hampshire and their irrelevant News Paper
Thank you for your thoughts, I will make up my own mind. I enjoy reading all the commentary but don’t trust the media because of the spin they place on everything to suit their agenda, they harm our country. The whole election leaves a lot to be desired their isn’t anyone of substance to choose from, it has been a while since we have someone of substance run. If a candidate says it is blue and the media screams it is green, I automatically assume it must be red. What is considered news these days is ridiculous, we have the Bill and Hil show, the religious/political debate, He said this but he meant that, he used a cross to send them a message….give me a break. Beam me up, PLEASE this is all sickening.
THANK YOU. Finally someone (organization) willing to stand up and tell it like it is. Of all the candidates running he is undoubtedly the most disingenuous. Also, I do not care what he or his campaign says, if he were to be elected the villains lurking in Salt Lake City would infiltrate every branch of our government. I cannot stress enough the dire and disastrous consequences of such and administration.
Thank goodness we have people with Journalism Degrees that can tell us how to think.
I bet this paper supports Ms. Clinton though. A person, who with her husband, form the most powerful mafia since Al Capone. They also cannot tell the truth.
Why am I not surprised!!! You folks are too liberal for your own, the state’s and nations good!
Up to now I have been very much undecided. To see someone with some solid common sense positions (all contrary to liberal media) just show how close to right (double pun for those who need to be told) he really might be.
Editorials are opinion oriented, not news oriented. You can say whatever you want. Romney’s campaign’s response that it was no surprise that the liberal paper was attacking his conservative platform doesn’t address the fact that they were attacking his changing of positions. Maybe they were attacking him because they are liberal, but Romney fails to address their main point - that he’s switching his stance on important issues.
What the Concord Monitor says should be taken wiyh a grain of salt. They are nothing but a liberal rag. They have an Immigration and Homosexual Agenda all their own. It would be interesting to know how many on their staff are gay.
Mitt Romney is way above any of those on their staff. They want to knock down a good American which is what Governor Romney is.
Just pray that the truth is exposed on every candidate and issue regardless of how the chips fall. Then let the people decide. Everyone and every issue has shortcomings and dirt, lets see who has the most damaging. Lets see who is most noble and trustworthy. That is what the media is supposed to be doing insted of taking sides and hiding information from the public. Some media outlets should be required to register as political parties in and of themselves!
Gregg
The war in America is between Conservatives and Liberals. If you have not figured out by now that Liberal Newspapers hate Christian Conservatives more than America’s true enemies, then the “Free America” is was born in to is lost.
Let me get this straight: In a country where Bill Clinton was president for 8 years, and in a campaign where his wife is running, *Romney* presents an unprecedented threat (to the world!) because HE “lacks the core philosophical beliefs to be a trustworthy president”?
Even to those who knew the press was biased, this is absolutely staggering. May there be more of it, because it is a moment of absolute capitulation, and the clarity can only help at this time. Who can read that argument, from an agency that was and is for Clinton, and respond with anything but guffaws?
We all know liberalism is a sickness.
Obviously this newspaper’s editors disagree with Mr. Romney on the issues, that is why they are attacking him. They give no substance to their arguments. This is very unprofessional for a newspaper. Shut up and report the facts, thank you very much.
This comment by the Concord Monitor is not surprising as more and more newspapers and other media outlets are exhibiting their clear bias. The fact is they, the editorial boards, are operating more like Political Action Committees than reporters.
It is interesting that this particular editoral board feels that they are more perceptive than the rest of the American population, as exhibited by their comment “we talk about our ability to see the candidates up close, ask tough questions and see through the baloney. If a candidate is a phony, we assure ourselves and the rest of the world, we’ll know it.”
I, for one, question the editorial board’s trustworthiness and definitely question their philosophical framework. They should close their “front” of honest news reporting and go to work as the Political Action Committee they are for a candidate in line with their perpective such as Hillary Clinton.
*What makes this news paper think they are smater than the American people.*
For starters, newspaper is one word. It’s called a compound word. Second, this newspaper is “smater” - or “smarter” as most people pronounce it - than you. Finally, you should finish questions with a question mark “?”. See? Good.
Thanks for commenting.
Right on Bud! Right on.
Anytime an entity such as a newspaper takes such a strong stance in any one direction, regardless of the direction, it generally triggers two thought processes in my mind:
1. There is obviously someone within the ownership of the paper who is usng the media asset to further his/her own personal beliefs, thereby discounting the credibility of the entire media asset.
2. It immediately causes me to feel defensive for whomever the target of the abuse of power is; in this case, Mitt Romney.
I have lived in New Hampshire for 17 years and consider myself able to make my own informed decisions. While I have not selected a conservative candidate, this un-natural act for a news-reporting-mechanism cause me to give Mr. Romney an increased level of my emotional support as I never tolerate bullies in any area of my life, and it would appear The Monitor is attempting to bully someone, which is unacceptable behavior.
Shame on you Monitor.
If the The Concord Monitor in NH is against Romney, that gives me a pretty good reason to vote for him in SC.
Bud,
Here’s the thing. This is editorial content, which is opinion. Opinion doesn’t always have to be factual, although that helps. Media outlets of all types influence voters, whether you want to believe it or not. If something is heard often enough, it tends to have the ring of truth it (look at Michael Jackson’s troubles). If the editorial staff wants to put this in their paper, then that’s their perogative, and frankly, I’m glad they have the guts to do so.
The Concord Monitor should stay out of politics and and stick to something they know, that is, if there is anything they do know.
It’s clear they are scared witless about a Republican that will have the ability to not only capture the Republican vote, but also the Independent and a significant share of the Democratic vote.
Mitt Rommey is no Reagon, but it is quite possible he could develop into something even better!
Why? (doing the famous Owen Wilson hand moves…) because you are afraid of a Mormon? Because he actually has morals, and married only once? Like Bud said… Print news, don’t make it up.
I couldn’t agree more. Mitt Romney’s ‘logic’ for how he has changed his positions is tortured. He is obviously pandering to get elected. John McCain offers at least a genuine alternative, Huckabee seems like an honest guy (but probably not ready), and Guliani would bring his ‘good & bad’ habits to the table. All three of these men are more straightforward than Mitt Romney.
Oh, please don’t waste your vote on Ron Paul. The rhetoric sounds nice, but this man has now idea how to run a country of 300 million with the largest and arguably most complicated economy in the history of the world.
This is actually a “plus” for the Romney campaign. Hooray!
Well if Mitt, “lacks the core philosophical beliefs to be a trustworthy president”. does that mean the folks in NH should vote for HC who has “NO” core beliefs?
I am a Romney supporter and will never be deterred because of negitive editorials. Editors do not and will not speak for me…
I am a devout Catholic and will not let his Mormanism make a difference to me… I believe him to be a good businessman and a faithful follower of what he believes whether it is to his wife, family or country. I think that we need that type of individual in the oval office.
Another “Liberal Rag”, tearing down a conservative Republican. They are missing the real phony politician by overlooking Hillary’s claim to be supporting the troops. Her eight years in the White House were spent degrading and dumbing down the Military. To-day she supports them. Phony Phony Phony.
The Concord Monitor will drive conservatives to Governor Romney.
President Reagan signed the most liberal pro-abortion bill while governor of California. President Reagan later had the courage to changed his mind and became strongly pro-life.
Governor Romney too had the courage to recognize when he was wrong. I applaud him and hope others on the editorial board of the Concord Monitor will follow his example.
Governor Romney will do well standing up to attacks by this and other liberal newspapers. He is a man of strong beliefs. Their anti-endorsement is proof of Governor Romney’s conservative platform. One that deserves support by all conservatives, regardless of party.
THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD BEAT MITT IS CONDI AND SHE ISN’T RUNNING—is she?!
When a left wind news rag slams a republican, it makes me want to consider voting for that candidate - even more. It is an indorsement in my view… I’ll take it under consideration.
Barely a day goes by that I do not develop more contempt for the news media as biased, bigoted and power hungry. This is one more nail in an already sealed coffin. Who cares what they think.
Once again the elite liberal establishment thinks they know more than us common folk. It is this type of pyschobable nanny-state mental which is leading to the end for many of the old liberal guard bastions of print and media.
Interesting to read this article alongside the one on CNN.com. Both are missing several points, but together the reader can get the whole picture.
Truly reprehesible piece of garbage. It’s nothing more that a “hit job” from a liberal rag of a newspaper. Those of us who have met Mitt Romney know better. Why not focus on any or all of the Socialist, Wave the White Flag, Tax Proponent Democratic candidates. They are the ones who should and will be stopped. We are on to you Concord Monitor.
The Concord Monitor is a fine example of what newspapers are NOT supposed to be. When they cross the line from unbiased reporting to unbridled gossip, partisan bad-mouthing, and political agenda-setting, they become the type of publication deemed a rag. New Hampshire deserves better.
I’m from NH and still not sure who I will vote for but I do know the Concord Monitor calling its self a newspaper is JOKE!! Anyone who has ever read the paper knows they just wasted 50 cents! Also, what presidential candidate hasn’t changed their stance on numerous issues over the years?
Jack
I have never counted on a news media endorsement or non-endorsement in choosing who I vote for. They are going to endorse the politicians that meet their agenda, always have and always will. It is just a free campaign speech.
If a news media wants to really to be creditable they should tell the public the true facts, about the candidate’s record and platform and let the reader, viewer or listener decide.
Where is New Hampshire?
Liberals are like animals, when backed in a corner they attack. This is just another example of “Doth protest to much”, They can not win or beat you on policy so they act like a school yard full of children. Merry Christmas and may God Bless you and everyone in this audience.
what more would you expect from a left rag like the Concord Monitor…..most people with an “I-Q” higher than thier body temperature do not pay attention to it although it does make good bird cage liner
What a stupid paper in New Hampshire.
Romney is the only legitimate candidate. We, the American public, are taking “applications” so to speak for a president. When one looks at the resumes of all candidates, there is clearly only one choice for work experience and past job performance. I personally don’t want another politician in office, I want someone who can get things done and knows what to do and how to do it. If a resume were required, Romney would be the only qualified candidate.
As we get older, our views and opinions change with our age. Everyone has experienced this. The only thing a focus on his changing views is for is to take the focus off of the race and try to make a non issue an issue.
If the American people want a truly qualified candidate and not a politician, Romney is clearly the choice. I personally, don’t want another politician. They can’t seem to do anything but talk.
This editorial board must all be from Massachusesetts. I am afraid that when the Taxachusetts liberal people moved to New Hampshire, they did it to try to change the core values that this state has always adhered to. if we begin to give into this rhetoric we will soon be annexed and become North Massachusetts. Believe it or not we can judge for ourselves what values the candidates offer.
It is hard to believe that a paper, even one of questionable repute, would resort to this sort of negative writing. I hope that your circulation soon matches your class which is zero.
A newspaper staff that endorses infanticide is in no position to cast dispersions on even Mitt Romney. A core philosophical morality that accepts “emergency contraception” is not a mistake. Understanding that one’s views were wrong in the first place and need be changed is not a fault. Accepting that one was wrong and making right choices is not a lack of character. A man that is willing to reflect on his views is not disquieting. A man that can change the things he finds in himself that do not reflect the morality he embraces is not a phony. I myself do not prefer Mr. Romney as a candidate but I can respect him.
The government should shut down this newspaper today and revoke their licenses. Their job is to report the news, not to make remarks about who not to vote for. I have no intention on voting for Mr. Romney but this nonsense with the newspapers in this country has gone way to far.
Mark
Tucson, AZ
This just shows how much the left is afraid of Romney being the Republican nominee. Other candidates have issues that are far worse than these.
I have to agree with Bud Thibodaux. Journalist need to stick with the facts. The American people are not interested in their opinions and are smart enough to figure things out on their own. What a display of arrogance by the Concord Monitor.
Mitt Romney is a brilliant example of what a president should be. As a newspaper you should stick to news…NEWS…as a people we will make up our own mind thank you very much.
Specking about phonies! Let me enlighten the most un-American region in this country NH, VT, MA, and NY, none of you pathetic morons and news papers will ever influence me or the rest of the decent people of this county how to vote. It’s time for you people to get a clue. You can all start by passing some legislation to protect children from the sick people who tend to reside in your states and appoint some judges how won’t let them go free.
This newspaper convinced me that Romney is the BEST candidate. Their bias is typical of New England liberals who moved from New York, retired and have nothing else to do. The American people have stopped reading newspapers anyway.
A Mitt Romney win and another disgraced papers fall is going to be all the sweeter. Print the news and send your opinions to the enquirer
Of course a liberal paper that supports drivers license for illegal aliens and wants to take “Under God” out of the pledge of allegiance wants to stop a conservative candidate like MItt Romney. It’s also not surprising to see them criticize MItt for changing positions on key issues. I think anyone man who says “I believe in the faith of my fathers and if it hurts my candidacy than so be it.” has proven that he’ll stand up for what he believes. That’s what Mitt said to the world less than a month ago in Texas. He may be trusted. We may not believe the same as he does, but let’s allow him the same privilege we want for ourselves—to believe what we believe. He’s proven that he is a person of integrity. I think it’s great that his personal family life is so stable. America can use more of that sort of example. Let’s support this.
