Paul, Hunter Force Leading GOP Candidates to Pay Attention

Border

While Congressmen Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter rank below the other Republican presidential candidates in national polls, they nonetheless hit on key issues for particular blocs and occasionally force the top tier to take notice.

The super-early, front-loaded primary calendar, combined with a mildly enthusiastic Republican base, has enabled these two boutique candidates to energize the field, said Mark Wrighton, politics professor at Millikin University in Illinois.

“We’re really sort of in uncharted territory here and we’re seeing some interesting things occur,” Wrighton said.

One of the unexpected, big moves in the race so far has been the catapult of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, from what was generally considered a darkhorse, second-tier position to frontrunner status in Iowa; he has become the most talked about Republican candidate in the field.

Paul has surprised everyone by attracting what many are saying is the largest grassroots movement since independent Ross Perot in 1992. The limited government, anti-war libertarian raised more than $19 million in the fourth quarter of 2007 and he has a legion of avid volunteers knocking door to door and blogging all over the country on his behalf.

While his chances for winning the nomination appear slim, Paul earned 9 percent of the vote in a Des Moines Register survey of likely Iowa Republican caucus-goers released Tuesday. An average of national polling puts him at 4.3 percent.

Meanwhile, Hunter may not have the the broad appeal of the current GOP frontrunners, but is certainly generating — and riding — the wave of Republican energy on issues like illegal immigration and border security.

Hunter, a California congressman, has forged his campaign on Republican anger at what he perceives is federal immobility on curbing illegal immigration, incentives that attract undocumented workers and their families here and so-called “sanctuary cities” that do not penalize or pursue illegal immigrants within their jurisdictions.

Hunter, who was chairman of the Armed Services Committee before Democrats took over the majority in the House of Representatives in 2007, is known primarily for successfully pushing through legislation for erecting a security fence along the U.S.-Mexican border. He’s been tough on the outsourcing of American business to foreigners and has been steadfast in this support of the war policy in Iraq.

But his star has been dimmed by the brighter, though in some ways, less purely conservative lights of the so-called “top tier.”

“I’ve known Duncan Hunter since 1980,” said John Gizzi, political editor of Human Events. “He’s one of the most decent people I know. He places ethics above everything else. He’s honorable to a fault.”

But with Hunter polling around 1 percent, Gizzi said the candidate might be looking toward other things.

“If there is a Republican president, (Hunter) would make an outstanding secretary of defense.”

Paul has not been so overshadowed. The 10-term congressman from Texas who was the Libertarian Party’s presidential candidate in 1988, has never enjoyed so much national notoriety and support as he does now, mostly because he is the only Republican candidate who has articulated opposition to the war, independence from the GOP machine and a strict constructionist view of the Constitution.

“He’s surprising a lot of people with the buzz he’s getting,” said Sean Evans, a professor of politics at Union University in Tennessee. “There’s a strong libertarian streak in the Republican Party and he’s speaking to that. He’s speaking to a certain demographic that no one has been able to.”

During the GOP debates Paul, 72, offered push-back against the other candidates, particularly on Iraq. Rudy Giuliani, the frontrunner in national polls, was able to make headlines off Paul when he scolded him for suggesting that it was U.S. policy that led to the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. But Paul didn’t back down and therein lies his appeal, said conservative political consultant Chuck Muth, also head of Citizen Outreach.

“He’s never worried about the Republican establishment, that’s for sure,” he said. “He means what he says. I think his personality has attracted so many people who may hadn’t heard of Ron Paul before this presidential campaign.”

I see that there is more defeatism from the GOP Leadership.

I love how all these “Ronald Reagan Conservatives” will buy into the Media Hype. The same media that will only show horrible stories from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Congressman Hunter lets his actions do his talking where the other candidates on both sides of the aisle are just making empty promises.

I will once again remind the American People that Ronald Reagan was not polling well in the 1980 Primaries and he went on to Win New Hampshire and then he went on to defeat the Democrats twice for the Presidency.

So my question for all Americans - Is it the Media who decides who the President of the United States is or is it still up to “We the People”?

Comment by Joe M

Ron Paul is not a “boutique” candidate. His message appeals to broad swaths of Americans and his support is being significantly underreported. He’s going to surprise a lot of pundits in the next week.

Comment by Beke Utecht

Let Ron Paul debate. Why are you afraid of him?

Comment by mike

Huck is in the lead in the polls only because his name is repeated over and over and over and over by the media each day. The general public who responds to the telephone polls (and unfortunately goes and pulls the lever) does not take the time to find out where the candidates actually stand or whether the things they are saying are true. They vote for who you tell them is most popular. That’s why it is so important that the media give fair time to all candidates without calling them “long shots” or saying their “chances for winning the nomination appear slim”. You are smart enough to know that the general public will not vote for someone they perceive to be a “long shot”. Please stop trying to influence the voters. Report the news, leave the biased commentary out.

Dear Mr. Murdoch,

I am perplexed at why someone in your employ would think it was a good idea to exclude Ron Paul. Are they trying to propel him to the top? Are they a secret admirer?

I realize Ron Paul doesn’t look very presidential, since he is rather small in stature and that he is not a polished public speaker. But he has surpassed both Giuliani and Thompson in some recent polls in Iowa.

I realize you have contributed much to our public discourse by providing a platform for conservative as well as liberal points of view on FOX. Won’t this really hurt the FOX News reputation of being fair and balanced, if the decision stands?

Comment by Jive Dadson

Fox has made a serious blunder by not inviting Ron Paul to the forum on Jan. 6. Fox’s scandalous partisanism has been apparent to Ron Paul supporters for many months. Now it is apparent to everyone. Fox would have done better to continue to invite him to stand on the side of the stage, give him 1/3 the time of the other candidates, and ask him disrespectful, loaded questions. Fox has underestimated the blowback. No one can give credence to claims that the decision was based on objective criteria. Paul out and Thompson in? It does not pass the sniff test.

Shame!

Comment by Allan

Hunter is the closest thing to a conservative in the race. It’s a shame that the media tries to ignore him so much of the time, but he will probably do better in the western states, later in the primaries, because he speaks more to the issues they see as important. For perspective, look at the laws passed in Arizona regarding illegal aliens.
Ron Paul is running as a republican because nobody takes the national platform of the libertarian party seriously. His support is from people who are disillusioned with both parties, who ALSO are against the war. That means mostly people who would normally vote democrat anyway. He can only help the republican party by staying in the race or running as a third party candidate. I would not be suprised to see him run as a Libertarian again, in spite of his denials, or to find that it was his plan all along. Obviously, the Libertarian party debate would have been “him against an empty studio,” so he had to do something.

Apparently, the 2 headed monster Fox created (Rudy\Fred) is all hype. Rudy continues to talk about 9/11, attacking Iran, and now he released his “4 point war strategy” he will call for a new military surge in Afghanistan, a change in the way America’s spies are promoted so that officers are rewarded for finding actionable intelligence and not just the number of agents they recruit, and a new war on Al Qaeda’s intricate network of Web sites, sites used both to communicate with its agents in the field and to recruit new jihadis.” Rudy offers nothing to Americans but War, debt and continued division. I have boycotted Fox News at home, and have called several of their sponsors to stress my disapproval. No more Outback Steakhouse, CDW, and my next car will not be replaced with another Mercury. I cant decide which is worse for America, Rudy Giuliani or Fox News.

We have a political chat room in Pal talk and were fortunate to have Duncan Hunter come and give an online interview. We are a conservative politics room, with todays’ comments and political scene I felt that I should say this up front!

Duncan Hunter was very impressive he was knowledgeable, informative and answered every question put to him, we support all conservative candidates, but he was by far the most impressive candidate in this silly circus season of politics. His record is outstanding his service unquestionable! We know that he fights overwhelming odds, but we stand behind him!

Comment by Madison Thacker

Zogby currently shows Ron Paul tied with Giuliani and Thompson at 8%, and 3 points behind McCain in Iowa, among likely Republican caucus voters. Another Zogby poll in November showed that Independents and Democrats represent 60% of Paul’s support nationwide. From the last paragraph of Zogby’s press release:

“Paul was the big winner among that universe of voters, winning 33%, compared to 19% for Giuliani, 15% for Romney, and 13% for Thompson.”

If this poll is at all reflective of Paul’s true support, and holds true in Iowa, then his real polling number in Iowa is closer to 20%, which would give him at least a 3rd place finish. After that, all the rules may change.

Comment by chris

Nobody likes Ron Paul because of his personality!!!

That is crazy—It is the message of freedom and liberty that convinces everyone to support him. I have yet to see someone read his positions, and understand why he stands where he does, and not be converted….only those that don’t understand his positions or haven’t dug for them don’t support him.

I can’t wait to see him at the FOX forum in NH. Oh- wait FOX didn’t invite him. I can’t wait for him to beat all the people FOX did invite then.

Ron Paul a “boutique” candidate. LOL @ Fox News.

Comment by Mark W

The “mainstream” candidates on both sides are just more of the same. Unfortunately, mainstream media is too. Choose hope over fear! Turn off your TV and research each prospect on the web. See who is consistent and honest. Look up voting records and previous stances. Have they changed with the political winds? Do they have record to look up? Don’t let media polls of registered voters, who happen to have a land line, influence your perspective, unless you want more of the same.

Excluding Ron Paul from the FOX debate makes a mockery of the slogan ‘fair and balanced’. It provides solid proof of bias and concious manipulation of the political process by FOX.

Comment by Urbanmom

You would think that after placing this article on it’s homepage Fox would have the GUTS to let both Paul and Hunter debate on Jan. 6th. I am so appalled at this “fair and balanced” news network. CNN is more balanced as of late.

FOX LET PAUL AND HUNTER DEBATE!!!!

Comment by Marc

Fox says “You Decide 08″ but you’ve already decided for us, right Fox? Excluding Ron Paul from your forum. Since your bus is too small, you should drop Thompson from it, he’s polling under Paul. Paul is polling 4th in Iowa AHEAD of RUDY and FRED yet you ignore him?

Comment by Craig Heaton

I’m very disappointed with the stand that FOX news is taking. It seems that Ron Paul has been getting more press coverage on NPR then on FOX, who alleges to be “fair and balanced”. My father and I, who are both supports of Ron Paul will no longer consider FOX as a reliable source of news or for that matter any other programming. It is clear that FOX is no different then any other media outlet…they skew the news and their media coverage to suit their own political beliefs. If you wish to prove you are fair, include Ron Paul in your political forum!

Fox News - you just ended my relationship with your station. I thought in American we were
free and our elections were free. It seems to me you are telling us who we can hear in debates
and who we cannot hear. So I no longer will listen to any of your figure heads. Iam a Lou
Dobbs girl and will change to an independent. We no longer live in a free America. Ron Paul
has every right to be in the debates and so does Duncan Hunter. You must want to destroy
our country along with the rest of the congress, senate, and president. It does not matter
which party is in office - they are both one in the same.

Fox finally writes a fairly balanced article on Ron Paul, sort of. It is the dead of winter, so perhaps hell has frozen over. I doubt that this piece will appease Paul’s supporters though, nor make up for the exclusion of their candidate from the upcoming Jan. 6 debate. Indeed, Fox has made a series blunder in that matter, one that further exposes the corporation to charges of partisanship and failed journalistic integrity. It is perhaps a little late to start to making up for that.

Dear Fox News:

I want to tell you how much I appreciate you giving Dr. Paul some positive representation here.
It’s very refreshing. Please keep it up.

Thank You,

Comment by Ticked in Texas...

I wouldn’t be suprised to discover someday that here in Texas Ron Paul helped broker a deal for the Leftista hate-mongors on that sweet little chunk of land close to the family home of our nation’s President in order to Harass/Haze/Intimidate the man’s family and the local citizens of Texas who live in the area. Such is the level of respect the radical leftistas have for people’s rights and people’s property. Ron Paul seems to support her positions along with Chavez/Catro/Ahmadatdad’s positions as well. And his Gore/Googly internet troll army of anti-American activists are always quick to spam anyone who supports America against those who wish us harm. On the other hand, Mr. HUNTER seems to be a very honorable sort. Hunter would be a decent choice for Pres, but Thompson/Romney would be my 1st pick. Just as long as the HuckaBeast/McCane coalition of religious Bigotry don’t succeed in Grand Wizarding Mr. Romney out of the Republican Party due to his membership in a religious organization which happens to be somewhat different thatn their own (although Mormons ARE every bit as Christian as any other Christian religion). Ron Paul? He should move to Canada/France where his views would make him le hero nationle..eh? Oui?

Comment by Have Republicans forgotten the definition of the word “conservative?”

Barry Goldwater, the father of the modern conservative movement and mentor to Ronald Reagan stated that “being a conservative in America traditionally meant that one holds a deep, abiding respect for the Constitution. We conservatives believe sincerely in the integrity of the Constitution. We treasure the freedoms that document protects…” He went on to say “I have little interest in streamlining government in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed their purpose, or that will impose an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is ‘needed’ before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible.”

The US has $9.0 trillion of debt and Ron Paul is the only candidate seriously talking about significantly reducing the size of the federal government. Both Goldwater and Reagan, like Ron Paul, believed in small government, reduced taxes and protection of liberty. In 10 terms in Congress Ron Paul has never voted to raise taxes, never approved an unbalanced budget, never voted for a restriction on gun ownership, he is pro–life, wants to return authority back to the states, protect our borders, protect US Sovereignty, get the US troops from under UN Command and back under the authority of Congress, eliminate entitlement programs, and wants to get the IRS out of American’s lives and the federal government out of regulating and taxing businesses into extinction. We would all be well served to pull out our primer The Conscience of the Conservative by Goldwater and refresh ourselves on the meaning of the word “conservative.” Remarkably, the definition is Ron Paul and his campaign is the Hope to Restore the Republic.

-Will Pitts

it’s not Paul’s personality, it’s his consistency and integrity. he is a conservative and a constitutionalist, unlike Rudy, Mitt, Mike, John and Fred.

Now that the serious part of the campaign is starting, it is appropriate to limit the debate to the serious candidates. I know this upsets supporters of the fringe candidates, but that is OK. Politics tend to be upsetting to those who get involved.

…as to my previous post that chunk of land referred to being Cindy ShiiteHand’s Communist Campground which the Jihadi/Leftistas utilized to launch their rabid hate-activist campaigns against America/Texans…

Comment by Terry Franklin

The appeal of the Ron Paul message is contagious for a very good reason. America is sick of what our government has become and he is the only candidate that has a message for real change. His support, as indicated in the polls, is grossly underestimated and I believe a surprise is in works come primary time.

Comment by JKforPAULwin2008

The cowards at FOX News spin it again. No mention of how they are excluding him even though the NH GOP has asked for all candidates to be present. Ron Paul has won more straw polls where actual people vote than any of the other Republican candidates. Is FOX mentioning that?Go to Youtube to see video of FOX news producers asking Ron Paul supporters to be left out of the videos. The people are speaking but Rupert Murdoch doesn’t like what we say, it doesn’t fit with his agenda of more war and more money for his coporation. American people be heard.

Comment by Dr MJM

Please do not exclude Ron Paul from the upcoming debate.

I believe he has more support than the polls reflect. The reason for my belief is that I think that I am not unusual, in the sense that:
* I have never voted for a Republican presidential candidate.
* I have never voted in a primary.
* I have never donated money to a presidential hopeful.
* I have never owned a land-line telephone and, therefore, I cannot be polled by phone.

However:
* If Ron Paul gets the Republican nomination, I will vote Republican in November.
* I plan to vote for Ron Paul in the Virginia primary.
* I donated money to Ron Paul.
* Many people in my generation can say the same.

So for all these reasons, I implore you: Let Ron Paul debate!

Comment by Bill Sandman

Those who support Conressman Duncan Hunter will not be silenced. We are not impressed by the fact that the republican front runners are now coming out in support of issues heretofore only mentioned by Duncan Hunter and we will not lose sight of the fact that the DNC has designated “Glassjaw” Huckabee the easiest republican to beat in the general election….

Comment by Jason

Duncan Hunter mentioned as someone “creating buzz”???? Bwahahahahahahahaha

What a joke, the guy has no money, no polls, and no grassroots support. With the exception of some talking heads and some neo-con writers, no one cares about this guy because there are 5 other, better funded, better known candidates saying the exact same thing.

I can’t wait for the Paul rally next door to your debate, when we have more people show up than you do. It will be embarrassing for Fox and the other candidates.

I love how you don’t think Paul has support when the guy raises 19.5 million in a quarter with an average of $50 donation. That means there are a lot of people out there who are dedicated enough to send money, do you seriously think that they arent going to vote or get their friends to vote?

Comment by Mike S.

With the exclusion of Paul and Hunter from the upcoming NH forum, Fox news is proving to be the most “honest” broker of democracy and elections this side of the Taliban. “You decide ‘08″? You ought to rename your electoral news section “WE decide ‘08″? Thanks for nothing, Fox News.

Comment by Dave Kirby

What’s really sad about all this campagn hubub, is the sudden explosion of great ideas on how to strengthen America and get back to traditional values that made us the great nation we are. Where were these ideas hidden for the last 4 years? Why do senators, governers, and other candidates take the public forum to tell us how they would bring America back to its senses? Why havent we heard these ideas in the news prior to a big election? I really cannot decide if the media was not interested in providing an ongoing forum or if the candidates wait until they become candidates just to get elected. We all need to think about voting in “NEW BLOOD” across the board and start with a brand new congress.

Comment by Ward Ciac

To the tune of Onward Christian Soldiers (permission hereby granted to sing at services):
Onward Christian soldiers, marching off to war, to Huckabee the victory, watch his poll numbers soar!
Lo the tide turns outward, lo the angels sing, Merry Christmas one and all, Huckabee’s christening!
Help the wayward Christian, those who sit the fence, bring them to the polling place, give them recompense!
Hark the canvass caller, hark the new debate, o’er the towns flies Huckabee, caucus in his gait.
Smote the heathen candidates, Huckabee is nigh, he will be the victor, power from on high.
Onward Christian Soldiers, marching off for thee, trumpets now resounding, President Huckabee!

I backed Hunter and Paul for some time, along with Tancredo. Tancredo was a dissapointment by not getting more than a few percentage points in the polls and then shocked everyone by suddenly endorsing pro-big business candidate Romney (who still will not answer what he’d do about the 38 million or so illegal aliens in the U.S.). Hunter for a long time touted his bulding the San Diego fence, only to see the Dems de-fund the 800 miles of fence with only a few miles of fence in AZ having been completed by DHS. He talked tough on Red China. However, he refused to criticize the anti-America policies of his boss and instead ballooned to the point where he resembled Huckabee before his weight loss. He also refused–til the very last debate of ‘07–to go after any of the top tier, and even then it was soft. When you’re down at 1%, you need to shake things up. He had plenty of chances and blew it. Supporters like me got ansy. But Hunter clearly didn’t want to offend any of the top tier.

By comparison, Ron Paul was/is the gadfly of the GOP. He clearly doesn’t belong in the GOP but rather the Libertarian Party. His opinions about one of our greatest Presidents (Lincoln) are revisionist and shocking and he’s been called “a kook” by those interviewing him on other networks. His blaming the U.S. for the 9/11 attacks (because we had bases in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere in the Middle East) cost him the Presidency. Even if some can explain away his wacked out comments on Lincoln, they can’t explain away those he made in the secind debate. At 8%, he certainly isn’t deserving of top tier status, no matter how much money he’s garnered. Besides the leftist radicals backing him, the “turn off” for many conservatives has been Paul’s constant use of the word “freedom” as if he invented the word. Another turn off has been his use of the term “laissez faire” in nearly every speech. This term/concept flies in the face of law and order Americans who want our laws enforced and criminals prosecuted to the full extent of the law. “Laissez faire” is giving marijuana and other illicit drugs to our kids and teens and not going after the drug dealers and smugglers. Laissez faire is not arresting and deporting illegal aliens, now numbering 38 million-plus. Laissez faire is allowing all kinds of other crime to run rampant, which is anarchy and which if not abated, will lead to civil unrest.

Thank You Faux News!
Another backfired ploy that pushes Ron Paul up in the web rankings.
I love Faux News. You’ve saved us untold millions of dollars on advertising in our quest to get Ron Paul elected.

No news network launches more fact finding searches of new Ron Paul supporters like Faux News.

The harder Faux News hits Ron Paul the better he does in campaign momentum.
I sure hope Faux News is still in business after Congressman Paul takes office in January ‘09 as our next president. Faux News strategy might just help Ron Paul become the most popular president in the history of America!

Give my regards to Chris Wallace and Sean Hannity. Tell them I love them both.

I sure hope Mike Huckabee doesn’t get to despondent when he falls off that really tall horse Faux News has fabricated for him with “virtual” poll results.
Hey who cares, Frank Luntz is making a ton of money (Rupert Murdoch’s that is)pumping the hot air at the controls behind the curtain… reminds me of the Great OZ.

Comment by David Bersch

In the most unusual race in recent memory, it seems foolish to exclude anyone from your debate. While a candidate in the single digits may not have much of chance at winning the first or next caucus, whoever does win could be enough of a disappointment to the electorate to raise the popularty of the lower candidates. A Ron Paul or Duncan Hunter may rise up in the polls after the defeat of a Romney, Guiliani or Huckabee. A major news source for Republicans can alter that outcome by denying the public the opportunity to hear those other voices in a toss-up year like this one. I hope Fox will rethink this decision.

Ron Paul is indeed a breath of fresh air with obvious wisdom that far exceeds that of the combined Republican and Democratic field of candidates. My only wish is that people would pull their head out of the sand and listen to him. Once one listens to Ron Paul you can’t help but to vote for him.
If you want to save this Nation from catastrophe by the Neocons, Elitists (Bankers, etc) you will vote for him. If you want to keep your freedom, peace, and prosperity, you will vote for him.
If you don’t then just blame yourself when it happens and don’t whine.

Look how angry the people get when you try and wake them from their coma. We have Ron Paul, who wishes to decimate the CIA militarist global empire and end this misery that supports resource theft and slave labor markets for corporations.

Who will the media make fun of? Who will the media smear?

What I find the saddest, is that Liberals and Progressives, who’ve I’ve worked side by side with in anti-war and human rights causes . . . will bleat like sheep, and parrot all the character assassinations the CIA plants in their corporate media lackey’s mouths. AKA..RACIST, Nut job…yada, yada…yada….

It will be liberals and progressives who will turn on the last greatest hope we have of saving our democracy and ending the brutal CIA run global corporate empire. After 9/11, when the Democrats were licking the boots of Bush and the neo-cons, there was one shining knight who stood tall against them. Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney demanded to know what happened to the $2.3 TRILLION Rumsfeld said the Pentagon “lost.” She demanded to know more about the connections between Bush and the Bin Laden family, and she demanded to know who ordered the mysterious war games to be held coincidentally on 9/11/2001, and why they were not called off when the attacks began.

For her courage her own Democratic Party leaders turned on her or turned away from her as the CIA controlled media hounds were unleashed upon her. This brave woman is now the Green Party Candidate, and if she garners the kind of support Ron Paul has, the CIA controlled media will turn on her again. And as before, the Democratic leadership will parrot the media’s attacks on her.

Suddenly, I wake up and can hardly believe that I ever knew these people in the first place. It’s like invasion of the body snatchers, and they are all screaming their alarms at Ron Paul, the one candidate who has not been replaced with the soul of a CIA militarist pod.

On NBC’s Meet the Press last week, Ron Paul shook the foundations of the illegal war mongering power structures of America. He’ll have hell to pay. His only hope is that the people he is standing up for, the average peace and justice loving American, will stand up for Ron Paul.

What is the ‘free press’ definition of ‘Boutique’ please? In the meantime I’d go to boutique news at globalresearch.ca for ‘true and presented unbias news information whereby the reader is not conjoled but encouraged to research.

Oh I almost forgot….
What’s not to like about Ron Paul’s platform? Freedom is popular.

Ron Paul = Restoration of Constitutionally Restrained Government, Sound Money, Individual Liberty, Increased Individual Prosperity, A Strong, Competent Homeland Security and Balanced Trade with other countries.

EVERY other candidate, whether Republican or Democrat - without exception = more debilitating, national debt, higher taxes, bigger government, loss of American soveignty to other world powers, addition loss of personal privacy and freedom, weakened immigration policy, weaker national security and bigger trade deficits.

People are noticing the difference - in spite of Faux News.

But don’t take my word for it. Prove it to yourself. Go to YouTube.com and just type any of these words into the search box ….
Guess who comes up first with millions of total views.
Amazing!
- Champion of the Constitution
- CNN
- ABC News
- Fox News (Faux)
- Hope For America
- Freedom
- Mad Money
- Glenn Beck
- Stop Dreaming
- Land of the Free
- Tea Party ‘07
- Grass-roots Sensation
- Morning Joe
- Tucker Carlson
- Meet The Press

Now tell me.. who needs who?

Ron Paul surely doesn’t need the media. They need him.

Duncan Hunter needs more exposure. He is a true conservative, veteran and has his finger on the pulse of this nation.

Ron Paul needs more exposure too. So his hate and disdain for this country will come to be realized by those who have been deceived by him.

Good going Fox!!

Fox News can fall off the planet. I deleted this channel from my TV.

Comment by Mark Belcher

Folks, I simply cannot believe that you can rightfully call yourself “Fair and Balanced” and exclude Duncan Hunter from the next debate. It is the opinion of myself and my listeners, ( AT THE Politics Cafe online radio show) that the media is only showing the most controversial candidates, and just so ythat they have a lot of fodder to attract viewers, to improve ratings. We believe that Duncan Huinter is being deliberatley excluded from the daily news simply because there is very little controversy surrounding him. There are very many Conservative commentators, such as Ann Coulter, who believe that Duncan Hunter is the best choice for President of the United States of America. Please, we are begging you, give the people a chance to hear what Duncan Hunter has to say, the future of this great country is in jeopardy with any other candidate. Thanks, Mark Belcher , Host of the Politics Cafe.

Just 40 years ago a coke or a cup of coffee costs 10 cents, a gallon of gas costs 30 cents, a new car costs $2,500 and a new house cost $25,000. Today a coke or cup of coffee is over $1.00, gas is $3.00, the new car cost is about $25,000 and the new single family house averages $250,000 or more. Over the last 40 years, prices for all these commodities have increased by a factor of about 10 times or more.

This means that in the last 40 years, the dollar has lost 90% of its purchasing power. Today you need $10.00 to pay for what you use to be able to buy for $1.00.

Why has the US $ lost 90% of its value? Because in the last 40 years the Federal Reserve has printed increasing amounts of paper money to fund excessive government spending for wars and welfare programs – and this paper money has no gold backing. The result has been constant inflation.

The US is on the brink of a financial catastrophe. The dollar is in freefall on foreign exchange markets and there are increasing signs that governments and investors around the world are looking for alternative currencies to use for investment vehicles. The US government is in debt to Foreign Governments a total of over 2.3 Trillion dollars and that borrowed money has been spent on wars and welfare (yes – that’s 2.3 TRILLION dollars). And these foreign governments are not all friends – almost $700 billion is owed to China and the Oil Exporting Countries in the Middle East.

Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate that is discussing this coming financial collapse and understands the incredible economic dangers we face.

I don’t understand why Duncan Hunter is only getting 1% of the vote nationally. I feel like he hits every issue right on the nose. I’m not a “reaganite” or a hardcore republican, but I really like Hunter. Why are there so few of us out there????

OK You can strike the words “turncoats like”,”flippant lawyers” and “opinionated cyphers” and the entire last sentence. Otherwise my comments represent my real thoughts..Hopefully this will be “moderate” enough.

Let Ron and Hunter debate!

Comment by Carol

All this in spite of persistent mainstream media efforts to ignore Dr. Paul.

Comment by Dr. G. Borders

Dr. Paul has more in fourth quarter donations from more donors than any other GOP candidate. He IS the TOP tier.

As for the polls, your OWN FOX online polls have him at number 1 on EVERY debate.

Quit marginalizing this candidate. Its bad for you, its bad for the nation, and its bad for the world.

Ron Paul’s message is individual Liberty, and this is something you (FOX) seem(s) to want to quash? Why? Liberty helps all involved in its message. It is healthy.

Let him debate, let him talk, liberty is a good thing and its a Republican thing.

Dr. Borders

Comment by Mark M (Story City Iowa)

We will caucus for Ron Paul tomorrow because his message resonates with us like no other politician has in years:
no foreign adventurism, end to supporting foreign dictators, end the war, constitutional rule of law, restore individual liberty and privacy, insist on limited government, balanced budgets, strengthen the dollar, restore free markets, reduce the role of government in agriculture, and respect for life. This is the most authentically American platform to come along in decades.
Add to that — he is not the Washington game player and slick operator that we are now seeing come out in the other candidates and in their ads. We hope he is allowed to debate on Fox. We are not crazies, we are not rabid. We are pursuing these American ideals.

Comment by Tim

Fox has the credibility of The Sun. Tabloid magazine with little truth.

Comment by Todd Twilley

What will Fox do when Ron Paul finishes third in Iowa and yet isn’t in the forum with candidates that finished below him on Jan. 6? Perceptions will not be good. Even non-Paul supporters are scratching their head on this one. Record-setting fund raising should not be ignored. When you consider pollsters only talk to those who voted in the last Republian primary/caucus, those you are talking to are the ones who voted for George W. Bush in the last primary. The last Republicans you’d expect to vote for Dr. Paul. There will be many surprises out of Iowa. Dr. Paul could doom the pollster/horserace story for all time. — A disgusted former journalist.

Comment by Al Green

have been a tue constitutionalist/conservative/some times Republican from the time of Goldwater, and have been losing faith in our system and the Republican party for many years.
I registered with the republican party this year fo the sole purpose of voting for Ron Paul in the primary.
My vote will not go to any of the other Republican candidates in the general election as ALL of those running are part of the political system that is ruining America.
Fox news, the news network I have come to depend on, has really missed the boat with Ron Paul, and has snubbed him and ridiculed his positions for years. He is the only candidate in either party that truely speaks for America and the American people, and Fox has missed the boat and it will translate into loss of listeners very shortly.
I have now lost faith in the fairness of Fox news and am searching for a fairer approach, more like Glenn Beck, from a competing news network.
Probably end up with internet blogs for the source of news, and begin to boycott the “Drive By Media” which Fox appears to have joined.

Scott,

Learn how to spell. Ron Paul is nothing, but a “Liberal in disguise”!!

Comment by Dana

remember that fox news is the enemy, who cares what they do, this war is on the ground, don’t get distracted by thier fake debates and polls, don’t worry about the little battles, concentrate on winning the war… knock on doors, talk in line at the grocery store, say vote for ron paul as you walk through the door of your bank and other small venues… say ron pauls name constantly, the product sells itself, people just need to know who he is

You’re going to need a bigger bus.

I can not believe that Fox is going to exclude Ron Paul from the debates .
My family, friends and I all support Ron Paul. I for one will not be buying anything from any of the sponsers of this debate if Ron Paul is not going to be included in the debates.

I agree the powers that be are all afraid to let him be heard, as he has a powerful message that all of us have been waiting for,

This story is incorrect and should be pulled.
Ron Paul has won several polls including world polls, straw polls, aol polls bloody heck he won your own poll for the national debate how can you continue to lie to your viewers. I suggest the law of the land revoke all your licenses and do internal audit and investigation. You have brought this upon yourselves by continuing your treasonness acts. I ask all American Lawyers to ban together to take legal action immediately. Stand up for your rights America!!!!!!

I guess we will see if the American public can overcome FOXaganda and the rest of the media’s oblivious comments like “political insurgent”, etc. Im surprised they just don’t come out and call him a terrorist.

Comment by Cory Newton

Hunter is the best candidate for the GOP. Period. Hunter and Paul are being left out of the debate because the media would rather select the nominee’s instead of the people. If you have name recognition and are good at running 60 second soundbite ads that do not do justice to the issues, the sheeepeople will flock to you. And when polled by the media will spit up what they “know” and “think” and “feel’.

I know Duncan Hunter, is the best candidate I’ve ever seen run. I will continue to donate and support to him.

Comment by Paul Furlong

Without Ron Paul to keep them honest, this years election is just another mud wrestling contest playing to the lowest common denominator. If he can get on the ballet, even better to keep educating the masses to their own constitution. If Dr. Paul could somehow get elected, he may just make a better world for our children and grandchildren.

Thanks, Paul Furlong
