Hillary will win nomination because of entrenched Democrats and white females over 35. She will lose the race for President because every other group will go against her.

So what if Obama sold drugs ? Alot of people have
done things , including me,
in their youth, that they are not proud of, but they have changed and now are a productive member of society, as I have. Judge someone for who they are not, not for the mistakes they did in their youth.

Judy Warmenen,

MLK and others were at the forefront of this Civil Rights battle in the 60's and it was individuals like him and others who made America see its injustices which led to LBJ help passing that legislation. If it were another president it would have been the same results and pressure. "You may never know what results come of your action, but if you do nothing there will be no result" Another quote by Gandhi infers that, similarly to the Civil rights movement, without the action of courageous individuals nothing would have been done. So yes politicians did help however, those same politicians would have done nothing if there hands weren't place in front of the proverbial justice of fire. God Bless America indeed. And let’s hope that America votes for Obama. Maybe then will we truly be one and united.

I like your Christ; I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ. - Gandhi said....

Judy Warmanen Says,

I will have to disagree on that point you made. LBJ was just the right person at the right time. It was those who were maimed and sprayed with hoses and lynched and beaten that led to the final passing of legislation that led to the Civil Rights Act. Gandhi once said that, I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

Henry,

You are correct. The US Senate didn’t feel that the “Commander and Chief” was guilty of perjury or obstruction of justice by lying while under oath or telling Monica Lewinski to lie too. In fact, the USMC holds a private to a higher standard then the US Congress does of the president. The Marine Corps expects integrity of their Marines (even the low ranking ones). At least his home state felt he’d reached a threshold of low moral standards, even for lawyers. It was his home state that disbarred him. Nothing serious, politicians lie all the time and we the average American “Joe Citizen” expect it. That’s why Bill Clinton is revered. Lie to me “Baby!”

President was acquitted!

President William Jefferson Clinton was facing two articles of impeachment, perjury and obstruction of justice.

This is NOT from a Clintonian. . . . . . . Just wanted to set the record straight.

Both Obama and Clinton are correct. It took Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks and others like them to draw attention to the civil rights issue, but nothing would have happened without the political process. It took people like Hubert Humphrey, Eleanor Roosevelt and, yes, Lyndon Johnson to bring the issue to the forefront and bring about needed legislation. As a veteran of my share of protest marches during the Vietnam Era, I can attest to the need for both grassroots action and political action. All of the protest marches in the world wouldn't have had any effect at all unless the powers that be had finally made up their minds to end the fiasco that was Vietnam.
If you look around today, you'll see how easy it is for a politician--in this case, the President--to use his power to prolong a war. We can protest all we want to, but unless Congress decides to say no to the President, we'll be in Iraq for the next 50 years.
So we should all be thankful to Martin Luther King and the other people who fought in the trenches to bring about civil rights in this country. But we should also be thankful to the politicians who decided to do the right thing and see to it that legislation was enacted to assure those rights.

I think the Obama's Campaign is trying to play both sides of the race card. There was simply nothing wrong about what Clinton said about Martin Luther King's efforts to get civil rights laws passed. "He led a movement" but movements do not pass laws. Hillary only spoke of thing that she has been speaking to minorities about for years, so why should her remarks be offensive now to a man who says his campaign should transend race issues? Apparently it hasn't because both John Edards and Kerry see Obama as the best representive for "Black People". These two men will do whatever they can to support Obama against Hillary and they are giving the Obama a reputation that he said he wanted to transend. Frankly speaking, I am a "Black woman and I will not support a political leader because of their race or gender. I am interested in their leadership abilities, ideas and proven exerience. Movements are only effective when laws are changed to support them, and movements are seldom effective without sacrifice. So is Mr. Obama sacrificing his race to support the "Change Movement"?

Yeah, Obama's plan was to play the "race card" in a majority white country and win the election over all of the white candidates. He's so crafty, he's a genius. LOL

Wow, I wonder why Hillary didn't think of it first considering the fact that she is the "experienced" one. LOL

If you don't want to vote for the guy because he's black, then don't vote for him, but to make up dumb excuses is as pointless as the Clintons.

Donna,

If you expect people to take you serious, get your terminology/facts correct. Bill Clinton was impeached. Impeachment is a court hearing…and his impeachment wasn’t for cheating on his wife, it was for lying while under oath! JFK was a little more discreet and somewhat sensible with his infidelity and as far as I know he didn’t lie under oath; whereas, Billy was lying and cheating on Hilary. Bill was in the middle of other allegations of extramarital affairs. He too showed extremely poor judgment.

Yes, you do judge a woman by WHAT her husband does to her. Billy humiliated her in front of the WORLD! Think about it, how far would you allow your spouse to abuse your marriage and you? Bill was already giving deposition for things he did as governor, as well he was fielding other accusation of infidelity. I guess the question is, “How far would allow your spouse to disgrace and abuse you.” While considering that ask yourself, “How does it feel to be the neighborhood joke?” or “How long would you allow your husband to make a fool out of you?” If you allow this activity to continue you either have no marriage or your judgment is suspect. I’d be willing to bet that you’d have a difficult time being taken seriously by people that know you. Remember people are judged by the things they do. In Hilary’s case what she had done is proven her judgment is poor. Remember she blamed George Bush for duping her about the Iraq War. When she should have verified the fact before she voted to send our children to war. This one action alone has proven she has poor judgment. Now after her husband has made a fool of her, George Bush has duped her. She wants to be PRESIDENT! Who will be the next man to dupe her? Osama ben laden, President Puti….????

I am grateful that we now have a candidate that is not radical and wants equality for ALL black and poor whites. Barak is a not going to get elected. I think a republican will get the nod for president. Take a look at the last 2 elections and the tactics republicans use. This country is neither ready nor willing to elect a Black man or a woman for president. To say that we have come very far from the Civil Rights era is an understatement. Just look at the economic status of blacks or the advances that women have made in the work force. I could give you statistics but the real truth of the matter is just taking a look around. The fact that white America is even thinking that Barak is a contender for president or Hillary does make a fascinating point of what can be and will eventually be. I think this race issue will always haunt America. It is embedded in our roots. The founders had slaves even Franklin slept with a slave and had children. There was a war fought over money that directly tied itself into slavery (Civil war). Then you had Jim Crow laws and segregation. Now that we are in a position to have someone from our heritage become the most powerful leader in the free world is uplifting. It’s not his time though. Now whites would like to believe that one should not vote for a black just because he's black? Well you have been doing this subconsciously since elections have been held in this democracy. Well the majority for the most part and not just towards blacks but women. Look at how many senators there are that are black and how many women as well. I will leave with these words that no one wants to address was a powerful a leader as Dr. King.

"Sitting at the table doesn't make you a diner, unless you eat some of what's on that plate. Being here in America doesn't make you an American. Being born here in America doesn't make you an American.

Time is on the side of the oppressed today, it's against the oppressor. Truth is on the side of the oppressed today, it's against the oppressor. You don't need anything else.

Usually when people are sad, they don't do anything. They just cry over their condition. But when they get angry, they bring about a change. "

- Malcolm X

Now that last quote is interesting. I think blacks now are angry and we want change and the only way we think we can get it is by electing someone who looks totally different than what we are used to a, Black man.....and then more to follow ( women or blacks) and it is those that follow who will make that change. Look at Dr. King and who came before him....Marcus Garvey, W. E. B Dubois and so on. God bless the world and our leaders. Not just America...we see where that got us Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush II....We aree still were we were 30 years ago. No economic power and no political power..change is inevitable. Whether you like it or not.

First of all,
As a black man, Robert Johnson is no friend of mine and pulls no weight with me. I feel BET has done more to harm black people than it ever has to help. BET has mishaped the black image and perverted the dreams of so many of our youth and I have Robert Johnson to thank for that. For Clinton to have Johnson's endorsement is fitting. It shows her lack of concern for black people and her willingness to stand beside anyone who will get her a vote. As far as I'm concerned the endorsement of Oprah Winfrey sings a far cry to Robert Johnson.

Lastly,
The comments of Hillary were uneducated and dillusional. Rev. King and the many other anonymous heroes in the Civil Rights Movement were called into action by the inaction in Washington. Washington never made a thing happen, hence the March on Washington. African-Americans simply refused to be ignored and it took two assassinations to get the CRA signed by LBJ. The Civil Rights act was signed with the blood of the activists, not the pen of the president.
