Nevada Spanish-Language Ad Irks Clinton Campaign

Border

A union supporting Barack Obama is running a Spanish-language radio ad that slams Hillary Clinton over the Nevada lawsuit to bar the so-called “casino caucuses.”

A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the at-large caucuses to be held in nine hotels along the Las Vegas strip is permissible since internal party decisions are not under the court’s jurisdiction. Both the Nevada Democratic Party and Democratic National Committee last year signed off on the plan to give hotel employees the opportunity to go vote Saturday while they are at work.

A translation of the negative ad by labor group Unite Here says:

“Hillary Clinton does not respect our people. Hillary Clinton supporters went to court to prevent working people to vote this Saturday — that is an embarrassment.

“Hillary Clinton supporters want to prevent people from voting in their workplace on Saturday. This is unforgivable. Hillary Clinton is shameless. Hillary Clinton should not allow her friends to attack our people’s right to vote this Saturday. This is unforgivable; there’s no respect

“Sen. Obama is defending our right to vote. Sen. Obama wants our votes. He respects our votes, our community, and our people.”

The Clinton campaign is none too happy about the ad, particularly as the Clintons have repeatedly stated they had nothing to do with the lawsuit filed by the Nevada teachers union, whose leadership is tied to the Clinton camp.

Clinton campaign spokesman Phil Singer accused the Obama campaign of hypocrisy for attacking labor-backed ads in Iowa “but in Nevada, he’s looking the other way as they falsely attack his opponents.”

“Senator Obama apparently has no problem with groups running ads as long as they attack others. While that’s audacious, its certainly not hopeful,” Singer said.

On a conference call with reporters Wednesday, Hispanic labor leader and Clinton supporter Dolores Huerta called the ad “pathetic, and it’s sad and unfortunate that they have to stoop so low.”

Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton responded that it’s not the campaign’s ad, and “if the Clinton campaign has questions, they should contact the union that sponsored the ad.”

He goes on to say that “it takes some chutzpah” for the Clinton campaign to complain since it has been “repeatedly launching absolutely false attacks against Senator Obama. … The fact is their camp clearly would like to have workers’ voices silenced and they need to live with that unfortunate position.”

The Clinton’s are nothing but a bunch of hypocrits. Hillary talks out of one side of her mouth and Slick Willy is beginning to show the temper he had in the White House. Her accusatory remarks are a pant load! She fuels the false rumors about Obama then has her scapegoats give apologies. She needs to put a gag over Slick Willy. She’s the ‘establishment’ so why in the world would you want her back in the White House? No wonder the GOP want her to take the nomination…it would be clear sailing for them to reach the White House. Get real people! To those of you who are Hispanic, pleeease! She no more cares about your hispanic heritage than she cares about carrying tissue for her phony tears…(which not a drop was visable).
Hillary has been focusing ALL her campaigning to the minority groups as of late. She’s evil…untrustworthy…hypocritical…and most of all a crook! Investigate her….find out what she’s about. I can guarantee you won’t like what you read. To many skeletons in her closet!

VOTE OBAMA ‘08

I feel for Hillary on this one, but if the tables were turned she’d do the same thing. They signed off on this deal months ago, so now it’s just kinda funny. I don’t know why it’s so funny, but I could not read this article with a straight face. There are going to be lots of ups and downs in this campaign, and this is just the way the cookie crumbles this time. Does anyone else see the humor in this?

All Unions are great for is to open their loud mouths and spill unintelligent propeganda that super hard working immigrants have no choice but to follow. That is un-American and wrong. Unite

Anything that helps take down those 2 in the dirt, lying, deceiving, criminal, perverted, pieces of human debris is fine by me. They deserve each other. Obama, keep your cool and don’t get down in the mud with them, which is what they want you to do.

“Hillary Clinton does not respect our people.” - How can the Obama campaign stand by and do nothing as this union throws mud at a fellow candidate whom he claims to respect. It’s one thing to attack her on her positions and plans, but making baseless claims about her being a racist - unacceptable.

blah blah blah blah… no latino in his/her right mind will vote for obama, unless they are intimidated by their union as will happen here in NV… It pisses me off, that he uses SI SE PUEDE “YES WE CAN” as his own catch phrase.. he needs to stop evocking other powerful beings that are no longer among us, just to get votes… Cesar Chavez, would not approve….

While I do regret that Obama’s SUPPORTERS (Not the campaign itself,I might ad) has stooped to the level of the CLintons, I say The Clintons shouldn’t dish out BS that they can’t eat. The CLintons have done more mudslinging in this campaign than anyone else, the slick tactics that she has used ar so transparent. At least Obama isn’t being sneeky about it. He is bringing it to her.

The lawsuit REALLY WAS STUPID. And the CLintons PUBLICLY backed it. If they had a problem with it, they should have said something about it a lon time ago. I’ll bet my next paycheck that if the Culinary Union had backed Clinton, her supporters never would have filed a suit in the first place. Try to argue that you Clintonian supporters!!!
