Nevada Spanish-Language Ad Irks Clinton Campaign

Border

A union supporting Barack Obama is running a Spanish-language radio ad that slams Hillary Clinton over the Nevada lawsuit to bar the so-called “casino caucuses.”

A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the at-large caucuses to be held in nine hotels along the Las Vegas strip is permissible since internal party decisions are not under the court’s jurisdiction. Both the Nevada Democratic Party and Democratic National Committee last year signed off on the plan to give hotel employees the opportunity to go vote Saturday while they are at work.

A translation of the negative ad by labor group Unite Here says:

“Hillary Clinton does not respect our people. Hillary Clinton supporters went to court to prevent working people to vote this Saturday — that is an embarrassment.

“Hillary Clinton supporters want to prevent people from voting in their workplace on Saturday. This is unforgivable. Hillary Clinton is shameless. Hillary Clinton should not allow her friends to attack our people’s right to vote this Saturday. This is unforgivable; there’s no respect

“Sen. Obama is defending our right to vote. Sen. Obama wants our votes. He respects our votes, our community, and our people.”

The Clinton campaign is none too happy about the ad, particularly as the Clintons have repeatedly stated they had nothing to do with the lawsuit filed by the Nevada teachers union, whose leadership is tied to the Clinton camp.

Clinton campaign spokesman Phil Singer accused the Obama campaign of hypocrisy for attacking labor-backed ads in Iowa “but in Nevada, he’s looking the other way as they falsely attack his opponents.”

“Senator Obama apparently has no problem with groups running ads as long as they attack others. While that’s audacious, its certainly not hopeful,” Singer said.

On a conference call with reporters Wednesday, Hispanic labor leader and Clinton supporter Dolores Huerta called the ad “pathetic, and it’s sad and unfortunate that they have to stoop so low.”

Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton responded that it’s not the campaign’s ad, and “if the Clinton campaign has questions, they should contact the union that sponsored the ad.”

He goes on to say that “it takes some chutzpah” for the Clinton campaign to complain since it has been “repeatedly launching absolutely false attacks against Senator Obama. … The fact is their camp clearly would like to have workers’ voices silenced and they need to live with that unfortunate position.”

Is the candidates’ name, middle name or last name a factor to decide our vote?????

Eric,

Concerning your comment about posters not being able to write a coherent sentence.
Where the heck did you come up with “demonstratably”???

Did you, perhaps, mean “demonstrably”??

Please tell me you haven’t been taking speaking lessons from Bush!!!

And to the person who so cleverly identifies him/herself as “Obama is Muslim”: What a smart little thing you are!! So it’s HIS fault if his parents name him “Hussein”?? And, even though he’s a Christian, goes to a Christian church, etc, he’s automatically a ‘Muslim” because his name is Hussein?? So, if your name is, say, “Mark”, that automatically makes you a “Christian”??

Such a clever little twit you are!

Hey, Eric…
Concerning your complaint that many posters can’t write coherently: What the heck does “demonstratably” mean?

Perhaps you meant, “demonstrably”??

You’re not taking lessons from Bush, are you?

His middle name is “Hussein”. What christian names their kid “Hussein”. I’m voting for Hillary because she’s not a boogie-muslim.

The good thing about a democracy is that everyone can give his or her own opinion….and the best thing is that the majority decides….so, lets the time says who’s right…and who’s not…

I’m pretty sure that, as americans, we don’t want to see children without fathers, or mothers, or both…we don’t want to send back people who has everything here….kids, furniture, friends, cars, houses, JOB…and their only “sin”, was have came here “illegally”….

I agree 100% that, hispanics (not just mexicans, as some people refer a Hispanic person), and everybody else from other country have to learn the language….that’s true…i don’t have any against it….

Some people just talk and make comments but they don’t really know whats going on….its impossible send back MILLIONS of “illegals”…..so, instead of make those comments…we have to find the REAL way to, let this people become “legal”, improve the ways of how people from other countries can come legally, if the country need them, and then “close” the border…

We have to keep in mind that this people HAVE A JOB….so, that means the country needs them…and most of them are keeping their jobs for long time….so, that means something.

America is a melting pot of cultures, we all know that. But this multicultural nation functions so smoothely because of the English language. It isn’t asking immigrants much to enter our nation legally and learn the english language. All this crap about Europeans being immigrants too isnt a strong argument supporting illegals. My ancestors came from Germany, they came legally and guess what? THEY LEARNED ENGLISH. Without English-only laws America will not function to its true potential and the selfish Mexicans who are too proud and stubborn to assimilate will tear this nation apart and be the downfall of a world power.

I have to say to Mexican- American: You say we have to give the illegals who are here a chance because….why? I have no problem with Mexicans- I have a problem with illegals. Any nationality. The problem with the illegal Mexicans is they all have the NERVE to demand we give them rights to our country, our social security, everything that we have worked hard for being LEGAL citizens of this country. As far as speaking Spanish- learn our language. The language spoken in America is ENGLISH and you better damn well know that if I was going to move to another country I would A) Do it the right way ( LEGALLY) B) Learn the language and C) not have the stupidity to EXPECT that country to give me handouts because I WANT them. Is that too much to ask? We all come from immigrants- but if you can’t do it legally, work and pay into the system like the rest of us, then you are not worthy of being here. You just can’t justify the demands your illegal countrymen have demanded of our country. How DARE they. Like they DESERVE it. And if you’re going to tango with me- get your English right- then I’ll listen.

United States of America is a different country, it’s not like any other country in the world…this country is special….and americans are special…why???…because America has been built with people from everywhere….there’s not a culture…we don’t have an “US” culture…we have a mix of cultures from Europe, Africa, Asia and Hispanic America….this country has a compromise with others countries…moral, economic, etc….U.S. is the poor countries’ big brother…so..with comments like the made by AMERICAN KID, this people just show their indifference….their kind of hate…

I’m pretty sure that most people don’t think like you, american kid, and i’m glad. Keep in mind that in one point of the history…people came “illegally” here….or what, people in the “Mayflower” (i hope you know what was the mayflower) came with work permit???? i don’t think so….

It’s true…everybody has to respect the rules and laws in the country where they are….but this is different….they just came “illegally”….but they came to work…and they are finding jobs..that means that there are jobs for them….they pay taxes on evert purchase they make….unless they get paid in cash…they are paying federal n state taxes on their paycheck, paying for the social security, and they never will can claim that money for their “retirement”…they are buying cars, trucks, houses…they are helping the economy…I totally agree with the fact, that, if they are stealing, killing, etc. they have to be deported.

Some european countries have that “issue” too (France, U.K. Spain)…but what they do, in Spain, for example, is, after a year of been “illegal”, if they don’t have any felony…or any charge, they receive a work permit. In matters like that, and how they solve them, it’s why the European Union it’s becoming so strong. They are solving immigration issues (by accepting the “good” workers, and sending back the gangs members, thieves), they solved the babyboomer problem, the commercial trades issues, health issues, economy issues….We have to learn that from them….and use it here.

By the way American Kid…..there’s 1000’s of American seniors living “illegally” in Mexico, Costa Rica and other countries….just because they can’t afford a DECENT end of life here…

What we have now is a “lesser of two evils,” for president. Clinton has lied in everything she has said; no one seems to have noted that she really has NO experience in running anything (except Whitewater, destroying files, and stealing from the White House when Bill’s term was over).

Obama is nice (I guess), and young, but what are his positions, really? Does anyone know?

As for McCain, he is NOT conservative. He and his phony lopsided grin and that arms in the air thing…what is that all about? And, he is not “my friend,” as he calls everyone. No matter who gets into office, you can count on socialism.

For the first time in my life, I am considering not voting at all. I hate that. No matter what we do, we will not get a good president, and you all know the people of Iraq, Iran, etc are just thrilled about it.

I predict that, after the election, we will have another terrorist attack here, and it might even trump 9/11. I pray I am wrong, but I sincerely believe that.

And as far as all the talk about illegals, no matter what heritage, please just go home. We are paying for your healthcare, you are costing us our own country, which we were proud of a long time ago. But if you insist on staying, SPEAK ENGLISH! I promise if I am in your country I will speak (or attempt to speak) your language! (I lived in San Diego 15 miles from the border, and despite its perfect weather, the political climate is HORRIBLE.
