Rambo v. Walker, Texas Ranger: Stallone Backs McCain Against Norris’ Huckabee

Talk about tough opponents.

After Mike Huckabee enlisted action star Chuck Norris to watch his back on the rough-and-tumble campaign trail, John McCain is tag-teaming with Rocky himself.

Sylvester Stallone told FOX News that he’s supporting the Arizona senator for the 2008 presidential nomination — McCain, a former Vietnam POW, is the real Rambo, Stallone seemed to reason.

“I like McCain a lot,” Stallone said in an interview that aired Thursday. “Things may change along the way, but there’s something about matching the character with the script, and right now the script is being written and reality is pretty brutal and hard edge and like a rough action film, you need somebody who’s been in that to deal with it.”

So who’s badder?

Though both tough-guy surrogates may be better suited for a cage match than a press gaggle, Norris has blended into civilian society, standing tall with Huckabee at rallies and accompanying him in post-debate “spin rooms” to set the media straight about what they just saw.

Stallone apparently has not been recruited for any campaign appearances … yet.

The Texas Ranger’s campaign ad with Huckabee late last year did wonders for the former Arkansas governor’s Web site traffic, with lines like “My plan to secure the border … Chuck Norris” and “There’s no chin behind Chuck Norris’ beard. Only another fist.”

Stallone/McCain versus Norris/Huckabee could the ultimate ultimate fighting contest of this election year. McCain, alerted to the surprise Stallone endorsement, said as a result, he’s prepared for the next brutal round on the campaign trail.

“I’m going to Philadelphia and run up the steps … I’m ready,” he told FOX News.

Campaigning later in West Palm Beach, McCain told reporters, jokingly: “Look out Chuck Norris, Sylvester’s comin’ after you. He’s comin’ after you and he’s going to get you. You better run! Chuck, you can run but you can’t hide!”

This is all great fun, but we are in the process of selecting a President of United States, not an academy award winner. Actor endorsements are meaningless to an older voter like me at age 60, but may have some sway with younger voters. Fortunately, they don’t vote in large numbers.

For all voters, please be distrustful of candidates who want celebrities to tell you to vote for them….the celeb is only for show, and will not hold a cabinet position or help run the country. This is an election for President, not a reality show to pick an Idol fav to get a record contract.

We need a strong military and with John McCain we have a strong leader.
surrendering in Iraq is the wrong thing to do’ When Bill Clinton was President he closed down many Military bases. It is because of the Clinton Administration that Al Qaeda is so strong.
Barack Obama’s Pastor in Chicago has ties to Louis Farrakhan The Nation of Islam under the leadership of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and he is the catalyst for the growth and development of Islam in America. .. Please yell from the roof tops that a vote for Barack Obama is a very very danderous thing. We are a war with the Islamic extremists.

Norris was right about McCain - He IS too old!!! I don’t mean to be unkind but he is too dull as well! In this year’s election which is all about REAL CHANGE do the republicans REALLY want to run a guy who would literally be the OLDEST man EVER elected to a first term as President?!! Besides all that He has been a fixture in Washington for nearly 30 YEARS!!!!

I like Stallone. HOWEVER, he is not the guy I would want to lead the country (nor is Chuck Norris). ..

I’m enjoy the comments posted, and agree w/that Mitt Romney is the best republican candidate.

Hopefully, the American people will look at the candidate when they vote. :-)

This is absolutely hilarious! Of course we all know it has nothing to do with politics but adds a little fun and color to the primary! Perhaps they could have a “showdown” and the winners candidate becomes president! LOL I am a fan of Norris and Stallone and it has absolutely nothing to do with who I choose to vote for in this election. John McCain is my man and my decision has absolutely nothing to do with how any celebrity or anybody else chooses to vote! He is the best man for the job and that is why he gets my support and my vote. I am a daughter, mother, grandmother and retired RN that loves my country with all my heart and am hereby announcing my support for the honorable officer and gentleman, John McCain!!!!

I don’t have anything against Sly but he’s probably not the best “action figure” to tag with McCain given his porn flick and use of steroids. Nope, Chuck Norris wins hands down.

Let’s not get too excited about celeb’s endorsing candidates , let us look to the candidates and to the ideas they promote and things they have done I like vets , but not vets that don’t
stand firm on defending our conservative ideas( aborting a baby is not a right) supreme court decisions made by activist liberals should not stand and if that means appointing conservative judges then so be it ! I am REPUBLICAN and proud to be an AMERICAN no matter who is
President. I will never vote for anyone only for party affiliation especially if they are not
True to that party! Sorry John McCain, I like any Conservative in this fight better(Rudy is like McCain). So Right Wing Conservatives please do your homework B-4 you Vote.

God Bless America !
