Obama Ranked Most Liberal Senator in 2007
Barack Obama ranked as the most liberal senator of 2007, according to newly released National Journal ratings.
National Journal has tabulated the rankings of U.S. senators and representatives based on their votes for the last 27 years, and found that in 2007 both Obama and his rival for the Democratic presidential nomination Hillary Clinton shifted to the left in the run-up to the primaries.
Obama went from being the 10th-most-liberal senator in 2006 to the front of the line, while Clinton went from being the 32nd-most-liberal senator to the 16th-most-liberal last year.
Despite the bitterness pervading the campaign between Clinton and Obama, National Journal pointed out the two have very similar voting records. The year-in-review showed the two differed on just 10 of the 267 measure they both voted on.
The article said the two candidates were like “fraternal policy twins,” demonstrating only slight differences.
National Journal wrote that the two senators supported most measures to withdraw troops from Iraq and comprehensive immigration reform, and that they voted similarly when it came to health care, education, energy and other issues.
In response, Obama spokesman Bill Burton dismissed the use of labels like conservative and liberal.
“Only in Washington can you get falsely attacked for being like Reagan one week and labeled the most liberal the next,” he said. “The tendency of Washington to apply a misleading label to every person and idea is just one of the many things we need to change about how things operate inside the Beltway.

Are you completely out of your mind? You think you can talk about God and Jesus? If you are Christian then you don’t truly believe a child is innocent, because all of God’s children are born with sin. Secondly, fetuses actually fit the definition of a parasite; they are an organism in another one and they benefit by injuring their host. Do you like parasites? That’s not to say I’m for getting rid of said parasite, I’m just not going to accept the idea that it is completely innocent. A bridge also hasn’t collapsed since the last one did in Minnesota, does that mean they’re doing a better job of taking care of roads? Of course not. Lack of a terrorist attack isn’t simply because the president is doing a better job at taking care of this country. NOT ALL DEMOCRATS ARE PRO-CHOICE! Barrack is not Muslim and even if he were, that should not be a problem. You speak of WWII and how Jews would be unhappy if we didn’t fight in WWII yet you suggest that there is something wrong with people being Muslim; has WWII taught you nothing. Not everyone in this country is Christian, so I don’t care if Jesus is Pro-Life in a national election. God is not Pro-Life, he flooded the world which I’m sure included pregnant women with fetuses. Get a brain, ABORTION is killing innocent babies, who have every right to live as much as anyone else has because GOD is the giver of all life! People who die in war, sign up and enlist to serve in the military, knowing that they could very well go to war at any time. It’s their choice to voluntarily enlist to serve.
