Ron Paul Stops in Bismarck, N.D., Before Super Tuesday
Long-shot Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul appeared before about 300 supporters Monday in Bismarck, N.D., calling the state “fertile ground” for his message.
“This is a small state, but you can send a big message,” Paul told the crowd gathered at the Bismarck Elks club, according to The Bismarck Tribune. “A message here for liberty will be heard around the country and around the world.
After the event, Paul said he sees winning the North Dakota caucuses as a real possibility, but that it’s not his only objective.
“Tomorrow, I think the goal is to come in first in North Dakota,” he told reporters. “But if we come in second that will be fine, because the enthusiasm will continue to build.”
Paul, who held a rally earlier Monday in Fargo, is the third presidential candidate to visit North Dakota. Former Republican candidate Rudy Giuliani visited last November and former Democratic candidate Dennis Kucinich visited last September.
Crowd members showed their enthusiasm for the candidate with cheers and signs such as one homemade model that read “legalize the Constitution.”
Eric Lutz, a 26-year-old online business owner who attended Monday’s rally, said he was first attracted to Paul because of these views on the Constitution and the nation’s economy.
“I agree with a lot of his views, and I came (to the rally today) because I wanted to learn more,” he said, according to the Tribune.

Independent polls have shown that Fox viewers know less about the state of the world and have a less accurate view of issues than patrons of any other news outlet. Just go to outfoxed.org to see. This is no joke, just look for yourself.
Tommy, you obviously don’t know anything about Ron Paul or North Dakota. You should check up on the facts before you making yourself look unintelligent.
Tommy, you’re exactly the kind of person most Americans want to see ousted from Washington. I bet you call them “flyover states” too. Get real.
Where’s North Dakota?
Who’s Ron Paul?
Both are irrelevant.
The flawed primary system is why Ron Paul isn’t doing better…
In my state of Florida, If you are an Independent (as half of registered voters are), you are NOT permitted to vote in primary elections. So, in my opinion as an independent the primary’s are a big joke, and have no real credibility. I have seen twice as many Ron Paul signs as any other candidates signs here in Florida and yet he got 2% in the primary here… I rest my case.
That’ll never happen, Craig. The Establishment is terrified of someone like Ron Paul. Murdoch knows which side of his bread is buttered.
Disgusting and a disgrace to the field of journalism.
You might have noted in your story that Ron Paul raised more money in North Dakota than McCain, Romney, or Huckabee, but that would take a few minutes research.
Of the four remaining Republicans, Ron Paul was also the leading fundraiser in Alaska, Montana, and Hawaii, and he was in the top 3 in all Super Tuesday states.
Why do you insist on calling Paul a “long-shot”? He has thousands upon thousands of supporters working tirelessly in grassroots campaigns. He’s raised millions of dollars via internet publicity and canvassing, and he’s a dedicated conservative with years of experience. It seems to me that the “long shots” like Giuliani got a lot more media coverage than Ron Paul–why is that?
Perhaps you should let the American people decide who’s a long shot and who isn’t.
Don’t forget the over 4,500 that turned out to see him Monday night at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The audience was only slightly heavy with twenty-somethings. Same message as in ND: Ron Paul is the one elected Federal office holder who fulfills his oath to uphold the US Constitution. He is the one man we can trust to defend our nation’s blood-stained heritage of personal liberty and freedom from oppressive government. He is the one candidate who would give total effort to balancing out the general welfare against the institutionalized bias in favor of big money in any form that has brought this country to its economic and military knees. If you do not perceive that truth yet, just wait a few more months.
Isn’t it great that there is at least one candidate who speaks straight to the American public about what they need to hear and provides a counterpoint to the mainstream pablum. Thank you, Ron Paul for trying to educate the public about the serious issues that the other candidates are ducking.
