Huckabee to Make Guest Spot on First SNL Since Writers’ Strike
Saturday Night Live’s first show since the writer’s strike forced it from the air 16 weeks ago will feature Mike Huckabee in a guest appearance, FOX News learned Wednesday.
The former Arkansas governor is not expected to host this weekend’s SNL — that job is reserved for “30 Rock” star and former cast cast member Tina Fey.
But a spot on the NBC sketch comedy show will at least give him some extra time in the limelight as rival John McCain works to close him out in the GOP race. Democratic candidate Barack Obama appeared as himself during the show’s last episode before the strike, on Nov. 3, 2007.
Huckabee has been a favorite of the late night comedy circuit since he launched his underdog bid.
Conan O’Brien, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert even staged a mock feud on their shows in early February over who “made” Huckabee.
FOX News’ Serafin Gomez contributed to this report.

Boy! You people who speak against Huckabee simply because he is a man of faith. Where are you when Obama’s minister spews Black Power as a religion. He Obama’s minister was swiftly pulled off to retirement when his Black Bill Of Rights was published. But, for many years Obama and his family attended his sermons that reeked of anti-white speech.
Why do you have the double standard? Can not a man express his value system without you criticising him? Just because you have no religion gives you no right to say the things you do against those who do.
Why do you carefully avoid discussions of Islamic extremists? I am fearful for this country’s moral decline and sense of fair play.
Hi Kay - do you really think Huck has a chance without the majority of the Mitt supporters? Your comment about it being a “sound decision” doesn’t give any reasons.
Huck even said in the some of the debates that Mitt Romney had said in the past that “Mike would make a fine president”
Huck was in battle mode for HIS portion of the conservative vote. When the opportunity arose for him to make a play for the rest of it, he fell flat.
Huck can only play the underdog role and was not ready to make a deal to give him a real chance.
Anya-You seem like a very bitter, hateful person. There is nothing wrong with having strong beliefs and standing up for what you believe is right. It would be hypocritical for him to deny his faith. As a conservative Republican, married mother of three kids, Huckabee would be my choice. I am not an ultra-religious person, but I believe that faith in God is paramount to this country being a decent place for our children to grow up. I live in Texas and illegal immigration is a huge problem and is changing our way of life down here. I want a strong Christian candidate that understands the problems that we face and that will not disgrace the country with immoral behavior. In my opinion, Hillary stands for whatever she needs to at the moment to get the nomination, Obama is filling people up with pipe dreams. Where is all the money going to come from to fund all these wonderful ideas? It will come from hard-working people like my husband and I. We work hard to support ourselves and our children, I feel like all Americans should be responsible for their own welfare. If single women would not go out and have all these children that are not going to have a father figure in their lives or adequate support, maybe this world would be a better place. The breakdown in the families in this country is the root of the problem. Liberal ideology takes away personal responsibility and enables people to become dependent on social welfare. I will vote for McCain, not because I want to, but because the alternative is something I don’t want to contemplate.
Huckabee said he’s not a quitter. I can’t argue with that, but a more complete and accurate statement by him would have been,
“I’m not a quitter, I’m just an idiot.”
The Word of God says,God Raises up Kings(Presidents) and takes down kings. Who ever wins is placed in office only so that God can accomplish what he needs to at that time. As citizens of the kingdom of GOD we must consult God on who he chooses. God can do any thing. We would love to have Huckabee, however who knows if God may choose Obama or McCain and change them during the process. Christians must be intuned with God.
Response to Comment by Gammy on Mike Huckabee. Separation of church and state does not mean a government official can not go to church or preach for that matter. Separation of church and state is not even in the Constitution. Thomas Jefferson wrote a letter ragarding separation of church and state to keep a church like the church of England from running the government. He did not state that a person’s “religious” beliefs and expression should be separate from our government, thus freedom of speech and religion which are part of our constitution. Have your facts straight before making comments.
Huck IS a joke. Finally he’s where he should be, Saturday Night Live.
To Vanilla Ice,
Why would Mike Huckabee want Mitt Romney’s support? He made a sound decision not seeking Mr. Romney’s support.
Huckabee is a candidate in a true American tradition as coming from nowhere, with little money and no party support, to be within one heart beat of the Rep nomination. But for Thompson in SC, Huckabee would have won, and McCain lost. It amazes me that the Huckabee campaign, built on ideas (clearly it must be, for it to have advanced as far, with the handicapps noted) has not been treated as the true story of this campaign (of course if he werre Ralph Nader, or Ross Perot, it would be, but as a conservative, it is not). It is a truly American success story, and proves that ideas, more than money, or name recognition, can still excite the electorate. Go Mike, onto TX. Keep McCain in the Right. Wtihout Huck, McCain would be running around espousing every global warming and amnesty agenda he could latch onto. With Huckabe,, he has to stay to the right.
Yep. I’m not surprised that the Huckster is going on SNL. After all, he has proven himself to be a real media whore. What surprises me is that he hasn’t shown up yet on Let’s Make a Deal. I do suspect that he is presently negotiating to be on next season’s Survivor. After all, that would give him week after week after week of media exposure, and media whores are addicted to that–at least until the other members of his tribe get fed up with his sanctimonious, holier than thou attitude, and give him the boot–sort of like the American people did in the primaries.
The Huckster should go back and study his Bible, so that he can figure out that Jesus spread the word of LOVE, not exclusion, yet born-again Christians denigrate all other Christian believers. It’s sort of like the Sunni’s and Shi-ites; they are all Muslims, but they hate each other and think others are not the true followers of Mohammad. Sort of makes one wonder if anyone who is ultra-religious has a clue as to what a belief in God should be about….
