You want a glimpse into Huckabee's character? Just look at the fact that he is going on SNL. The content and language of that show is absolutely awful. You wouldn't find Mitt Romney anywhere near that show because it goes against everything wholesome and decent that Romney stands for. Huckabee's moral and religious rantings are just that - talk. He does not back that up with his actions. He should be ashamed.

What I see.
What I see when I look at our field of Presidential Candidates in light of current world events and leaders.
On the Democrat side of the isle I see two very different Candidates with very similar views for our country.
One is Senator Clinton. In Senator Clinton’s campaign I see nothing but strife, contention, in-fighting and a struggle to get a consensus to make a decision. How can we rely on a leader who can’t even keep unity in her own ranks?
The other is Senator Obama. In Senator Obama’s campaign I see a sensational speaker who rides the tide of emotionalism. When times were not favorable we see his campaign withdrawn, subdued and searching for presence of mind. We know the demands of the Presidency are far greater than any campaign. There will be many times where unpopular decisions need to be made under challenging circumstances and we need a leader who can handle the stress with the presence of mind to make those decisions. We need more than emotions. We need substance.

On the Republican side of the isle I see two very different Candidates with very different views for our country.
The first is John McCain. In Senator McCain I see a great hero who struggles to maintain his composure. I see a Candidate who has shown time and again how he loses his presence of mind and temper over little things that are out of his control. I see a Candidate who could lead us to premature preemptive action when delicate diplomacy is required. I see a Candidate who will make a tense situation worse. I see a Candidate who needs a staff to manage him. How can we have a President who struggles to handle the little things and think he will somehow be different facing Vladmir Putin or Ahmadenajad?
Last but not Least is Mike Huckabee. In Gov. Huckabee I see man who has faced the ridicule, scorn and contempt of the Republican establishment, the Media and fellow religious leaders and remained unflappable. I see a man who did not cower, wilt or fade in spite of overwhelming odds. In Mike Huckabee I see a man who keeps his presence of mind in all situations. In Mike Huckabee I see a man who brings levity to tense and challenging situations. In Mike Huckabee I see hope. In Mike Huckabee I see a future with sealed borders! In Mike Huckabee I see a future with the largest military power in the world! In Mike Huckabee I see a future with Fair trade! In Mike Huckabee I see a future with the Fair Tax!
In Mike Huckabee I see a President with a vision for our Country!
In Mike Huckabee I see a President who will stand strong with conviction for our Principles! That’s What I See.

This nation, as never before is standing at the cross roads of determining who we will be.
Will we be a nation that doesn't know what we believe or stand for? Have we allowed everything we are to go by the wayside so that we don't even know who we are anymore? Will we go the way of our international brothers? It is apparent to me in reading these blogs that we have alot of anti-Christian; anti-American bias in this Country. If we continue down that path, we will get what we have already started to see. Our school children being murdered; our heritage being stripped away; government taking control.
It is time to change! It is time to take a stance for what is right and moral and good!

You say this is just an election! I beg to differ with you!
This is a stand for our survival as the God-directed; God-protected Country that we are! Without God's direct guidance and hand of protection on this Country we are without hope. We will become the secular progressive country that the movement has intended us to be.

It is time to awake America! Vote for the only candidate at this point that believes in the America that we have come to know and love...

Here's something I found about those poor Mormon people that the HuckUhBigots hate so very very much :( :

So Brigham Young said such and such back in the late 1800s, back when your good ol’ white Baptists were out with their pastors lynching blacks and murdering abolitionist Mormons. Just about everybody considered blacks to be the “seed of Cain” back then and white Southern Baptists used that as a justification for slavery and abuse, but the Mormons of the time opposed slavery and were murdered over it. Mormons also allowed blacks to be baptized and to join their church (What about the white Southern Baptists? They were too busy r@ping and murdering blacks to help them save their souls…).
You also misrepresent the context of whites mixing their seed with blacks. Brigham Young was referring to white men r@ping black women like animals, as was done by white Southern Baptists. The punishment for a Mormon to follow such practices was “death on the spot” or spiritual death or basically excommunication from the church for forsaking their covenants by committing a serious sexual sin by forcing themselves on a black woman outside of marriage as was commonly practiced by white Southern Baptists.
There are plenty of black Mormons in urban areas. Utah didn’t have a large black population in the 1970s and therefore did not have many black members in that area. There was, however, a large population of Latino Mormons in Utah at the time, so enough with regards to racism in Utah (Do you want to compare Utah to Arkansas with regards to racism at any given point in time?). Furthermore, Africa has been one of the most successful places for conversion into the LDS Church and retention of faithful converts, and many black African Mormons existed in West Africa before 1978. There are also more Spanish-speaking than English-speaking Mormons and more Mormons residing outside than inside the United States. Many of the very first Mormon missionaries and Apostles were sent to preach to Native Americans and Polynesians, and there are whole tribes and nations of them who are largely Mormon to this day. Almost all of the worlds languages are spoken as a second language in Salt Lake City, Utah due to young Mormons learning the languages of the nations that they are sent to by the Church.
Mormon doctrine is very clear on racism:
“For none of these iniquities come of the Lord; for he doeth that which is good among the children of men; and he doeth nothing save it be plain unto the children of men; and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile.” (Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 26:33)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good grief… all those people that know so much about ‘Mormons’ need to go to lds.org or mormon.org and learn the truth about the faith … with all the different churches in the world today I would never pretend to know the differences in doctrine between them all until I studied the different sects in depth.
And FYI, I do believe that one of the main causes of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint (Mormon) peoples being run out of the ’slave state’ Missouri (by mostly ‘good CHRISTIAN PEOPLE’ I might add) is because “he Mormons were against slavery and favored immigration of free blacks.” The Mormons proved to be a threat to the slave-state of MO.
lol .. you can see how that would have been a little problem and the ‘Mormons’ paid with the loss of their homes and their lives in some cases. The rest is history - the Mormon Trail of Tears (their exodus to Utah) as the Indians referred to it.
The Mormons, can for the most part, be counted on to be a people of integrity, high standards and excellent work ethics. People need to stop slamming them out of ignorance.
I wonder what Gladys Knight would have to say, or Thurl Baily or Alex Boye or any of the other hundreds of thousands of black members of the LDS church all over the world.
I wonder what the millions of latino members around the world would say about how “racist” this church is.
The fact is, there are more members of the LDS church outside of the U.S. than inside, of all races and ethnic backgrounds, in dozens of countries, on all continents, and in over 100 languages.
And since you’re so into quotes, here’s a modern one for you:
President Gordon B. Hinckley:
“The true gospel of Jesus Christ never led to bigotry. It never led to self-righteousness. It never led to arrogance. The true gospel of Jesus Christ leads to brotherhood, to friendship, to appreciation of others, to respect and kindness and love”
a as christian, southern baptist, and conservative, there is no way i can support huckabee. He has lied, he does not practice what he preaches and he’s getting as bad as bill clinton wanting to be the “center of attention”. Not only is he a spoiler, I believe he is spoiled.
No where in our Constitution does it say a man or woman’s religious beliefs is a reason for one not to run or be elected.
My Bible says “Judge not lest ye be judged” Huckabee has judged romney’s belief and attacked his personal character. That to me is unchristian.
Huckabee has also coveted what Romney has - his wealth. Well if Huckabee wants Romney’s money, huckabee should get out and get a real job and stop taking money from the people. Maybe he should learn to invest more wisely than being envious of what others have.
Bible also says thou shalt not bear false witness (LIE) and let me tell you Huckabee and McCain both LIED about Romney’s record and positions on
I look at huckabee and see a pharisee or sadducee a false prophet beating his chest saying look at me i’m your man. I see a very self-centered, egotistical man who lied about how he lost his weight. He didn’t lose it by dieting, he had a gastric bypass.
I don’t like the fact huckabee fired the individual who wanted to bring charges against huckabee’s son for taking a stray dog, stoning and then hanging it. He covered up his son’s crime. It is a crime to torture an animal.
I don’t like Huckabee’s attacks on beliefs. Look at what those statements have done. He has offended not only the mormon folks, but the Jewish faith, and catholics.
We are not electing a “pastor in chief”, but a president. There are a lot of people in this country who are not Christians. You cannot turn the White House into a Church. That is a violation of the Constitution.
You don’t bring people to Jesus by condemning what other people believe. You have to show by action why you believe in Jesus Christ.

The below comment I discovered on this board bears repeating as it's SO very appropriate:

Comment by 666 Mark of THE HYUCKUHBEAST!!!
February 22nd, 2008 at 2:19 pm

“It’s not about ego,” Huckabee told reporters at a Little Rock hotel. The former Arkansas governor said he still wanted to deliver his message about issues important to him, such as opposition to those ‘evil Mormons’, and a revised anti-Mormon hate literature & book signing/lecturing tour.”

We know Mike. We know. Don’t go away mad, just go away.

a as christian, southern baptist, and conservative, there is no way i can support huckabee.
——————————

“It’s not about ego,” Huckabee told reporters at a Little Rock hotel. The former Arkansas governor said he still wanted to deliver his message about issues important to him, such as opposition to those ‘evil Mormons’, and a revised anti-Mormon hate literature & book signing/lecturing tour.”

True Mr. Vanilla Ice ...... we have bickered about situations that are irrelevant now and quarreled religious prospective that hasn't pruduced any fruit but hurt feelings. I regret the pain that has been inflicted by misunderstandings between Romney supporters and Huckabee supporters. There are those that would like to keep the two camps off balance. I say two camps because Romney supporters still love Romney as there first choice and there is nothing wrong with that at all. In fact it shows those supporters weren't fakes but genuine in their commentment for which Huckabee supporters can greatly appreciate. Unfortunately Romney and Huckabee aren't still in the race. Now its McCane and Huckabee......I wish it were Romney instead of McCane. He like the majority of Huckabee supporters was our backup plan. Romney and Huckabee mirrored themselves more closly then any of the other Republican candidates. Both governors, both strong family, both border control, both right to life, both strong defence and both wanted sweeping changes to our monatary system to correct our economy.

I apologize to all of you Romney folks and hope that we can unite in our efforts to see the values that matter most to us are represented in the Republican party. These blogs will no doubt have plants to try and keep fires stired but they are not our friends that do such things.
I will continue to endorse Huckabee but be sure if it was Romney standing alone and Huckabee had made the decession to withdraw I would be standing with Romney as long as he fought on carrying the values of our countrymen no matter how remote his chances were. As long as there is a chance there remains hope. What say you????

Dean,

Thanks for your honest and thoughtful reply.

As a Huck supporter (as much as one can be after losing in my state primary!) I feel that you may be overstating your case to us, thereby suffering the wrath of many of my nastier counterparts. Huck does have flaws, and it is good for you to point them out, but it is totally apparent that you are capable of making your point without lowering yourself to the position of the others on this board.

I tend to think it is necessary to interact with people outside of my immediate circle in order to influence others for the better. I don't go to the bar with my friend who struggles with drunkenness, but I do hang out with him in other contexts. I think politics are a bit like this. It is immensely challenging to associate with others and not "be associated" with them in others minds. This is what Jesus, your Lord and mine, faced when he spent time with the tax collectors, harlots, Pharisees, and his own disciples. Each group (except for the harlots, funny enough) at one time or another criticized or questioned Jesus for spending time with the other.

Huckabee is no doubt a fellow follower of Jesus and he shares the challenge that all the rest of us do of being "in the world, but not of it." He also bears the additional burden of doing so with reporters following his and his wife's every move.

I like the fact that you are looking at the whole and not just one event out of context when you come to your political conclusions. However, in your argumentation, you choose the same route as your opponents when you pick one issue as a proof that Huckabee is an unqualified candidate. I sense that you can do better.

I hope to see more of your posts on other articles and get to know your more cogent, less hot-tempered, thoughts on the matters of the day.

Sincerely,

MissionManShane

To evangelicals (whatever that is supposed to mean):

I believe that the majority of [evangelicals] are good people who go about their lives trying to follow the gospel. Perhaps I am naive in this belief, perhaps not. I believe (and hope) that the ultra-zealous and bigoted faction among you/us are only a loud, vocal, obnoxious sliver of a minority. The vast silent majority are probably [basically] good people.

I am a Mormon, and I know that most Mormons fit this description as well. People are people, meaning that there are going to be small groups in any faction which do not represent the whole, just as there are times and decisions in each of our individual lives which we would not like to define us, if we had our choice.

Evangelicals and Mormons have so much in common politically, that we are doing each other a great disservice when we bicker. We are making ourselves a minority instead of working for a common socially conservative agenda. We both believe in Jesus Christ-- I know I am going to get flamed for that, but we do-- and it is a fact that both of us by-in-large center our political views, especially social-political views, around his teachings.

Mike Huckabee does not ideally represent the majority of evangelicals in every category, I don't believe (such as government spending and taxing). Mitt Romney does not ideally represent what Mormons typically support in every department either (such as the oft-cited abortion and gay-rights flipping). Huckabee did say some things which offended the Mormon faith, and then he apologized for the remarks. Was the apology sincere? I suppose only God knows. And then, of course, Mitt Romney is unapologetically wealthy, which may be a negative to some out there.

Anyway, I just hope that whatever differences we may have had about candidates this season doesn't harm us in the long run by dividing us on trifling concerns. We really need each others social-conservative alliance.

To Cris Z - I keep hearing the same things from the Huck supporter playbook. Mitt the quitter, Mitt the rich man, Mitt the Liberal, Mitt the Flip-flopper. On the flip side (no pun intended) we have Huck the honest man, Huck the decent man, Huck the only "true" conservative, Huck the only true christian.

Are you to arrogant to believe that some conservatives (we're not good enough to be called a true conservative though) actually voted for Romney? Huck was too arrogant and now I think all the Huck supporters are too "good" for the rest of the conservative base of the party.

If Huck really wanted to win this thing he should have got Romneys support. All Huck could do was call Romney a quitter. Boy I bet Huck sure wishes he had Romneys 250 delegates right now. I sure don't like McCain, but Huck and his supporters aren't winning me over on this board with their arrogance.

Mike Huckabee is only an embarrassment to the liberal/moderate RINOs that are killing the Republican party, and the media who are reporting how they want the election process to go.

S. Brown: You made a mistake. The clearest example of a narcissistic, conceited political hack is McCain himself. He more resembles Bill Clinton, than Mike Huckabee ever did.

Some say Huckabee has already lost the nomination. Well sir 1191 has not been obtained yet.
By the way I can tell you for cerrtain that Romney,Thompson, and Rudy, have lost without a doubt. Huckabee is holding to a hope but a live Tiger is much more fierce then dead lions.

None of us knows what tomorrow brings. The other candidates withdrew while only
Huckabee stands. Against the partial media Huckabee stands, against those that would tear down our country's values and standards Huckabee stands, against those that would retreat behind propaganda and lies Huckabee stands, against a illegal and biased tax system Huckabee stands, against socialized goverment Huckabee stands, against those that would contemplate harm against our nation Huckabee stands.

If he can stand against all these odds and challenges with nothing more then hope, determination, and the belief we can join together and bring back the honor our founding fathers invisioned for our nation ---- well sir, I'm compelled to stand too!!

Some of the anti-Christian posts on this page are so ridiculous. Huckabee had the courage to state his beliefs whereas Clinton and Obama have no detectable sign of where they plan to take this nation except into Socialism.

I am not a wealthy person, never have been and never will be but even I can see that taking from those who have worked hard to acquire wealth should be penalized for that effort. We don't allow bank robbers to walk free because they see nothing wrong with taking what is not theirs. I think this nation is losing the ability to see the difference between what is right and what is wrong. Say what you will about the Christian faith -upon which all of our laws are based-but without those tennets of right and wrong our nation would be even more chaotic. What does the anti-Christian world offer us? Not much-except their view of fairness in taking from one group and giving to another. While those who sit in high places pull our strings and tell us how to live. It is long past time for those of us who feel that a Harvard education-another liberal/socialist institution-is automatically qualified to lead us. I know plumbers that are more common sense oriented than Obama.

I think the money changers need to be thrown out of washington. Say no to more frivilous pork barrel spending. We need to be more fiscaly responsible. The Constitution needs to be respected and any interpritation of it for selfish gain is unconstitutional, and by the way I agree in separation of church and state. But only when it becomes an issue of selfishness, any abuse opperated upon with a deceitful heart is wrong period.

But only when it becomes an issue of selfishness, any abuse opperated upon with a deceitful heart is wrong period.

To all my former huck supporter colleagues I have seen the light and am switching my support to Ron Paul because:

1- Ron Paul is the only true underdog now. Huck taught us when campaigning against Romney "it doesn't matter the size of the dog in the fight, what matters is the size of the fight in the dog". Huck has more delegates than Ron Paul. Ron Paul is still in so the size of the fight in Ron is bigger than Huck now.

2 - Huck taught us to believe in miracles. For Ron Paul to win now would be the greatest miracle ever.

3 - Ron Paul is not a quitter. Huck said "I don't take kindly to quitters".
