Ferraro Defends Remarks About Obama as ‘Statement of Fact’ After She Leaves Clinton Team
Former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro, who is stepping down from Hillary Clinton’s finance team after telling a California newspaper that Barack Obama has been aided politically by his race, said Wednesday evening that the remarks were nothing more than a “statement of fact.”
Ferraro told FOX News she’s leaving her unpaid post on the Clinton finance committee because she doesn’t want the flap to become a campaign distraction, but blamed the fallout on Obama’s operatives.
“Somebody must have seen this (article) and said, ‘Wow, this is really something — we go after Ferraro, we go after Clinton,” Ferraro said in an interview Wednesday night on FOX News’ “Hannity & Colmes. “They made this a divisive issue, not me.”
Ferraro, who also is a FOX News contributor, she said she was simply exercising her First Amendment rights: “It was a statement of fact — nothing more, nothing less.”
Word of Ferraro’s departure spread Wednesday afternoon following calls from Obama’s team to restore civility by not letting the debate devolve into race-based arguments.
Speaking to reporters in Chicago, Obama said he didn’t think the comments were racist, but he did call them “ridiculous” and “wrong-headed.”
“The notion that it is a great advantage to me to be an African American named Barack Obama and pursue the presidency, I think, is not a view that has been commonly shared by the general public,”Obama said.
Ferraro notified Clinton by letter that she would no longer serve on Clinton’s finance committee as “Honorary New York Leadership Council Chair.” She wrote that the Obama campaign “is attacking me to hurt you.”
Clinton Communications Director Howard Wolfson said Ferraro made the decision on her own to leave the campaign post.
And Clinton reiterated Wednesday evening during a forum in Washington, D.C., with the Black Press of America that Ferraro was not speaking for her.
“I said yesterday that I rejected what she said, and I certainly do repudiate it, and I regret deeply that it was said,” Clinton said. “Obviously she doesn’t speak for the campaign, or any of my positions, and she has resigned from being a member of my very large finance committee.”
A sign that she acknowledges some race-based comments have soured voters, Clinton also apologized at the Washington forum for comments made by Bill Clinton after Obama won the South Carolina primary. The former president said Jesse Jackson also won South Carolina when he ran for president in 1984 and 1988, a comment many viewed as belittling Obama’s success.
“I want to put that in context. You know I am sorry if anyone was offended. It was certainly not meant in any way to be offensive,” Hillary Clinton said. “We can be proud of both Jesse Jackson and Senator Obama.”
Clinton said she wants the campaign to stick to the issues, but added “we don’t control what is said by everyone who supports us.”
She brought up the resignation last week of Obama’s foreign policy adviser Samantha Power, who left the campaign after calling Clinton a “monster” in an interview with a Scottish newspaper.
The latest controversy began when the national media picked up on comments Ferraro made in an interview last week with the Daily Breeze newspaper in Torrance, Calif.: “If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”
She accused the media of being “sexist” toward Clinton.
Ferraro was unrepentant about her comments. She said she has a 40-year history of opposing all kinds of discrimination and that she was speaking from a historical context, noting that she would not have been chosen as Walter Mondale’s running mate in 1984 if she had been a man.
“I’m sorry, I said nothing negative,” she told FOX News earlier Wednesday. “I care about the black vote in this country. I really don’t think this is right that they should attack me as racist.”
Former Maryland Lieutenant Gov. Michael Steele, who is black, said that Ferraro’s comments are true, and the fact she can’t speak them “goes to the heart and ugliness of racism.” He said Obama’s candidacy is not diminished by her words, but an oversensitivity is harming debate in America.
“It just speaks to the fact that race, no matter how you slice and dice it,” is all too present in people’s minds, he said.
FOX News’ Aaron Bruns and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
And these are the people we want running our country? Racists, rule breakers, liars, cheaters.
The only thing that will ever fix politics is term limits. The people of this country should make this a ballot item for 2008.
I’m not surprised…she needs to step down after her comments. One more problem for Hillary and her campaign!
Gee THIS will make me want to vote for Hillary….NOT. Quit spending time reading about the two chihuahuas and vote for the BIG DOG John McCain! Let’s not waste our time let us vote for a legitimate Presidential candidate.
She did not ahve to appologize and quit, perfect! Now she can speak forherself and she is telling the exact truth! John Edwards, Howard Dean, John kerry all those guys never got any attention from the media and did not get a chance to go that far, He is getting all this attention because he is simply who he is! Good for her!!!
I wonder if Ferraro thinks that the new Governor Paterson of New York is “thanking his lucky stars that he is black” because obviously that is why he is in his new position? LOL! I bet Tiger Woods is also thinking the same thing.
Goodbye and good riddance, you old Klan hag! Take your deep-seated racist philosophies with you and may you both dry up and blow away!!!
Who? She’s still around? Why is she speaking to anyone?
It’s great fun watching the left eat itself. The nomination process has become a race to see which “victim class” member can garner more votes based on race or gender.
Ferarro broke the rule the left created.
She had the nerve to speak the truth. So she’s out.
Now they can get back to talking about non-quantifiable concepts like “hope” and “change”, and who can surrender faster in Iraq.
Ha ha!
ABOUT TIME. How long has the race issue been hiding in her nature?
I suspect that it was more Hillary’s doing that Ferraro step down. It seems more and more that Hillary is operating in a reactive posture and not as a front runner. This could be the beginning of the end for team Clinton with all the bad press and low delegate/super delegate count.
It is the right thing to do…and if the tables were turned Clinton would expect and or demand the same from the Obama camp.
Goodby.
Wow..they are turning on each other in the party in which it’s usually anything goes. The lesson here…cheat, lie, steal..no problem. Call out a brother…all hell breaks loose. Portends bad stuff in the future for this country like the inevitable race wars.
Clinton is ignorant.
The wrong person is dropping out of this mess!!!!!!!!
Good, Ferraro needs to go. I am tired of all the name calling. No one voting this year wants to listen to this crap.
Canidates and their staff need to work on letting us know what and why we should vote for them.
This may be one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen. If her comments were stated as suggested in the story above, they are not racist or even racially charged. They are merely an observation, regardless of whether or not they are true. Furthermore, more than anything they were an indictment of the media, not of Obama or his race.
tit for tat - “Hillary’s a Monster” and Barack… is black” At this rate, there won’t be any staff of either candidate to survive to the convention
ferraro spoke the truth but in this politically correct culture, the truth is not wanted. i am proud of her for saying what she did and for sticking to her guns. obama is where he is (in the south certainly and i am a southerner) because and only because of the black vote, period. he is a racial candidate. end of paragraph.
I think Ferraro is a huge racist like most democrats. She should not disparage Barry like that. All the Clintons are closet racists and they are now exposed to the world. She should be brought up on charges of promoting hate crimes.
I’m not sure if I understand why she stepped down. Is there any disagreement over the facts that she stated? If Barack Hussein Obama from Illinois were actually a white 1 term senator named John David Smith from Ohio, is there any chance that he would even be in the running? I think not…
This is the inevitable outcome. While I agree with her comment that Obama is getting most of his attention due to his race, it’s not something she should have said.
Where do you think the term “politically correct” came from? Politics will never be about the real truth and always about what people want to hear. That’s a big part of the reason most Politicians don’t seem to do a very good job once they get elected.
Ms. Ferraro resigned because it is polittically incorrect to state the truth.
Some day, there will be total equality for all and no favorable treatment for any candidate regardless of color/gender.
Sorry, folks, we aren’t there yet. We are too afraid of the “card” being played.
geraldine ferraro does not have a racist bone in her thoughts thank you for speaking up . obama is no john kenddy and wont get my votecome nov.
It’s about time…the Clinton machine is despicable…
As she should, great move to remove her after making those ridiculous remarks. Stick to the issues; Ferraro who looks like an aging frog should be ashmed of herself.
Too bad she’s not taking Hillary with her…
I think this is a travesty. In part, Ferraro is right….Obama IS making a name for himself because he is the first African American man to run for the Democratic nomination for president, as is Hilary Clinton, who is making a name for herself as female who is running, and a former first lady. Ms. Ferraro was simply stating the obvious, which as usual, has been labeled as being a racist comment. That unfortunately is the sad state of our country. Everyone is so sensitive to race, religion, etc., comments that every statement made is misconstrued as being a racially motivated comment. I think this country is going to hell in a hand basket. He IS making a name for himself because he is black….but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Neither is being female. They both are making history and it is sad that everyone immediately jumps on these types of comments and screams bigotry. What a travesty!!! And how riciulous. Besides, what happened to free speach? Anytime someone makes a comment, they are immediately slammed, and I thought EVERYONE had the right to free speach. I am all for Ferraro, and I think she did absolutely nothing wrong!!!
Good move, her statements were way out of line and revealed the true way democrats view minorities. As a block vote that has to be catered to during election years to keep them voting in lock step with the Dems, but never give them any real power within the party.
“Former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro is stepping down from Hillary Clinton’s finance team after remarks she made to a California newspaper suggested Barack Obama is getting favorable treatment in the media because he’s black.”
Is it true?
Geraldine Ferraro’s remarks seem like true statements!
If everything that is said is taken as racist about Obama, and
Everyone takes offense, How is he going to govern if he is President?
You can’t say his middle name, you can’t say that his family is muslim
(which his father and grandfather were), and you can’t mention the fact
That he is black! You also can’t mention that he has no experience.
He actually chose to run as black, as he is Half white!
If he is truly for all people, he could have run as multiracial.
If you are a realist like Geraldine Ferrarro, and giving a speech on History,
What was she supposed to do Lie? Face it, Hillary wouldn’t be where she is
If she was not a woman either. Its our history.
What can the History book say to describe this election then?

As much as I can not stand Ferraro, (I always refered to her as the mouth that roared).
She is right on the money with this. I don’t like Hilary either, but this is getting scary. Ferraro should not quit. Pretty bad when you call out the truth and get nailed for it.
The identity politics — the third rail of democratic politics. How many Clinton campaign surrogates will fall trying to point out the favorable treatment of Obama by the press? Of course a few Obama people are making their mark by calling Hillary a monster too.
How sad. She speaks a truth that real intellects consider and pabalumated pundits are clueless.
If Obama were not black he would not be getting the votes he is. Period. Ferraro was ahead of the curve in 84 and still there. Kudo’s to her. Bad on her party. Brainless twits.
Glad she is leaving. Now all we need is to have Hilliary and Congressmen King of Iowa resign
It’s okay for her to say (about herself) that she was chosen because she was a woman but God help anyone that criticizes Obama or (gasp) mentions race. Talk about the elephant in the room
She needs to step down.
She also needs to apologize to Obama, the middle class and poor people of this country, who have every right, regardless of race, to vote for whom they wish to vote for without feeling degraded.
We have reached an incredibly interesting paradox here in this raise. We have “evolved” to the point that a woman and an African-American male, can run for the office of President. For some reason we have not fully evolved to the point where we can speak those openly secret thoughts so many people have. Barak Obama is indeed black. Hillary Clinton is indeed a woman. Every pre-election, and election day exit poll talks about how each candidate is doing among - you guessed it blacks and women, but to say the outcome had anything to do with their race or gender is reprehensible? Isn’t the media in love with the once horrific thought of a black man in the White House?
Just look at the treatment of big city mayors - Coleman Young, Harrold Washington, and Wilson Good - by the media. Offenses that would have chased any white mayor from office, were dealt with as minor quirks or misunderstandings.
I am a red state guy, but I do agree that Hillary is getting the short end of the stick. Politically, that makes me happy. As a reasonable thinking person, it just shows that we have not quite “evolved” to where we need to be in this country.
Where is a short leash when you need one?
She should quit, statements like that are unwarranted and unjustified. The media doesnt favor blacks in other realms. Is it logical to assume that a man of color could only beat HClinton if he recvd some token favor? How small and bigoted of her. Whay cant he be favored because hes honest, smarter and people just like him because hes genuine? Is that so hard to believe Gerri? You need to step out of your small mindedness
One of these days, someone has to have the proverbial “balls” to say “screw you, I’m not apologizing for a damn thing…I’m not resigning…what I said was absolutley true and if you don’t like it, too freaking bad. You don’t have the “right” not to be offended…take your politically correct bullsh** and put it where the sun don’t shine.”
What’s so amazing about all these politicians and their advisors is how completely blind and out of touch they are. If a politician had the balls to talk like this, they could ride the wave of the general public’s approval all the way to the Whitehouse. People are desperate for someone who just tells it like it is and let’s the chips fall where they may. Today’s politicians in both parties are absolute cowards.
This is absurd! If you will excuse the pun, everyone wants to ignore the elephant in the room (and I don’t mean John McCain). Race is an issue. Her remarks were not racist. They merely set forth a fact!
I would say something, but I would be asked to step down too.
Roy
It’s a shame when when the truth is off limits. How far is political correctness going to go? First it was Barack (No middle name) Obama and now this.
I think this was planned by the Clinton campaign all along. Ferraro was sacrificed to attack Obama and promptly resigned, to protect Hillary Clinton. The Clintons are very careful planners. They would not have anyone in their campaign make any statement like what Ferraro made without purpose.
What she said was partially true. We live in a country that still feels morally responsible for the oppresion of many African Americans. The media has seemed reluctant at time to attack Obama, and much more willing to criticize the likes of John Mccain. While this may be true, its more the liberal vias that many news casters and editors feel, and their opionon that they must help “guide” America leads to them unfavorably being biased towards Obama
she didn’t have to step down. That’s not what she meant but this Obama followers gave it a different meaning. She is a very decent woman and has done a lot about civil rights, etc. Those people who’s giving it a dirty meaning should be ashamed of themselves.
It’s a damn shame! I must be living in another country. My United States had free speech. What Ms. Ferraro said was true. Obama has been given a free ride. He keeps talking of hope and how he’s going to change things, but never has he given any concrete plans on which the voter could look at. I was never a supporter of Ms. Ferraro, but now she is a victim of the “New Culture”.
she is so right about obama. good for her. she says what everyone is saying and thinking. good you ferraro. i am so proud of you. hate it that they got rid of you for speaking the truth.
I hope that this decision was her own and she was not forced to resign. I agree completely with what she said in its entirety.
Geraldine is 100% correct in her assessment. Obama is a less than steller, neophyte politician who were it not for his gift of speech and the fact that he is black, would not only be a cintender for the Presidency but would not even be a US Senator. All of this talk about racisim is ridiculous…this is reverse racism…he shouldn’t even be in the picture
It’s gotten to the point where race must never be discussed…that’s just sad. The problem by labeling someone a racist when they are clearly NOT a racist (Ferraro) is dangerous, because then it lessens the true meaning of the term, and allows the real racists less scrutiny. It’s sad.
This is just wrong! She merely stated the TRUTH!! IF HE WERE A WHITE MAN, WITH THE LITTLE EXPERIENCE THAT HE HAS, HE WOULD NOT BE IN THIS POSITION, PERIOD!!! If the truth hurts then to bad. He has done nothing except bash the war and every thing that our country is doing to promote democracy. Unfurtunately there are a lot of people who would love for us to surrender and admit defeat. I have lost several friends here and have myself had a truck blown up from under me. I am now here on my second deployment. THIS IS WAR!!! WE MUST FINISH THE JOB! Get it through your heads. Obama merely has a good speech and a great way with words. I am from IL and I can say he has not done any thing for the majority of the state, south of Cook County. Unless it gets headlines neither of our Senators are doing any thing. i am not a Clinton supporter but I believe that people must face facts, especially when they are TRUE!!!
Good riddance re: Geraldine Ferraro. Memo to the Clinton campaign…stop the race-baiting…all of it.
I am so sick of this sensitivity political correctness crap. She did not say anything racist — only what others have not had the conviction to say. I suppose this means that if we question anything about Obama we are racially motivated. Haven’t we had enough of the Jesse Jackson’s and “Big” Al Sharpton’s of the world? I am no Hillary fan, but enough! VOTE REPUBLICAN! Leaving the Democratic party 4 years ago was the best thing morally, culturally, and philosophically I could do. Yes there are crooks on both sides (Paxton, Foley, Spitzer, etc.), but the boundaries of decency and morality are leaving this country.
Now Obama is playing the bully just like Hillary. So much for his message of change. All politicians are the same; you can’t trust any of them. If their lips are moving their lying!
I think it’s a shame she stepped down. We can’t seem to say anything these days without it being missinterpreted. She clearly said it was not a “racist” statement. How can what she said be a personal attack on Mr. Obama? This race is about “race” and “gender.” DUHHHH!!! Look at the polls….look at racial split between votes. It’s crystal clear. I am a woman of color….I know what this is about and instead of skirting the issue….Mr. Obama should embrace what this campaign race is about and run with it. On the other hand…it seems he wants to use the “race” card in everything people say…and than say…”it’s not about race”.
HMMMM??
The Clinton campaign needs to stop its slice and dice politics. Their campaign is fiercely engaged in divising the party and, thus, at any cost. Clinton is willing to say and do at any cost of winning, and without any regard to her opponent. I can guarantee you that not too long before the Pennsylvania primary, you will see Clinton resurface again with the same kind of attacks, whether it be racial or gender. This is an attempt on her part to try to drive away white folks from Obama. This is a tactic and a strategy by Clinton and her campaign. That’s why you will see it resurface again. But, the american people are smarter than that, and sooner or later, they will see her malicious scheme and will NOT go for it.
I can’t believe that she caved to the Obama Terrorist camp. If Obama Bin Ladin can’t take what she said, wait until the Republicans get him. They are going to have a field day with this cry baby!!!!
I am not a fan of Ferraro but I am shocked that she stepped down.
Great!!!!!
The Dems are implodeing and will soon go from bad to worse!!! I guess I wonder how Husean Obama can dictate to everybody what they can say and what they can’t. Are all the republicans and dems afraid of this guy???
Ok, when are we going to stop the race card? Why can’t the new Governor of New York be a man who has been selected to be the New York Governor instead of the “First African American man to be New York’s Governor. As long as we let the media play the race card we will have the race card.
I am sorry Geraldine Ferraro stepped down! Not bad from a Conservative Republican who is sick of every time we open our mouths we are racist!
it is good to see members of the democrat party fall victim to their own nonsensical rules of what you can and cannot say about a minority. whenever a republican had said anything remotely offensive in the past, Ms. Ferraro was the first person to ask for their resignation. now the chickens have come home to roost.
This is ridiculous! I’m no fan of Clinton’s or Ferraro’s, but what we have here is positively Stalinist. I guess it’s just not cool to point out what we all see and know. Check out Mona Charen’s column on RealClearPolitics.com to find out more about who this Obama person really is.
She said the truth. Now it didn’t really need pointing out but she did speak the truth. You better believe people walk on eggshells when a minority is involved. I speak not as a racist but as an observer who works with a vast group of nationalities.
Wow with all the events going on. This is turning in to a hell of a messy fight.Well I say fight fire with fire. This is a crucial time in our liife. Its all or nothing .HILLARY GO Time to show a woman knows how to fight,Like the song by Ted Nugent its CAT SCRATCH FEVER
This is exactly why the media has stayed away from race in the campaign. Now, anybody who even mentions that Obama IS black will probably have to be fired. This is one of the reasons that there are still many rifts between blacks and whites. The whites feel that if they say anything about blacks AT ALL that they’ll immediately be branded as racists and black haters and pushers of stereotypes. Whites have to tiptoe around any black issue at all. This is ridiculous.
Honestly, he ends up getting favorable treatment from the media. Not because he’s black but because they’re terrified to mention it out loud.
I wish that Bill Cosby would come along and support Geraldine. Mr. Cosby speaks out loud what many (including whites) feel about blacks who don’t get an education and try to help themselves instead of waiting for the goverment to do everything for them and even he is sometimes hated for it.
idiots
One should never be required to genuflect at the altar of political correctness, or surrender to the liberal thought and speech police for telling the truth.
She may step down from the campaign and give this battle to the enemies of free speech, but I hope she will continue to proudly assert her right to speak the truth and ultimtely win the war against censorship.
Too bad Geraldine caved — while I disagree with her substantively, ultimately Obama played the race-card here in calling her comment “slice and dice politics.” Ferraro simply stated a what she believes is a truism whether or not it is in fact a truism. She’s entiltled to her opinion. By silencing her with the accusation of “slice and dice politics” (meaning racism in this case and under these facts and circumstances), it is Obama, ironically and hypocritically, who has slyly and subtlely played the race card in the quise of “rising above” race politics. What a shame — Obama definitely is not what he purports to be — he has shown race politics is his game and he is a sly one at it. A protege of Bill’s perhaps?
Isn’t it humbling to watch the Democrats, the party who “never divides, but always unites”, fall apart while throwing racial remarks then trying to put the race card back in its’ pocket… This is the hypocrisy, which we have known for decades was just below the surface of their arrogance. I’ll take McCain over this anytime…
Why is the race-card being played when its a black person. You have two large media cases where Blacks shot or killed two white girls. Where is the Rev Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to side with the parents / victims of these white family’s. I think its a crock they “the blacks” keep playing the race game I hope they all go to hell.
I HAVE WATCHED G.FERRAOR FOR YEARS. SHE HAS NEVER BEEN RACIST!!! I AM A REPUBLICAN AND THINK WHAT SHE SAID WAS HONEST. OBAMA HAS TURNED THIS INTO A RACIAL MATTER!!!! HE IS A UNKNOWN. HE AND HIS PEOPLE ARE PLAYING THE RACE CARD!! IF HE BECOMES PRES. IT WILL GET A LOT WORSE.
There was a warning to the church in the first century: “If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.” Gal. 5:15 This is true in all walks of life–even politics. These Democrats are about to do just that.
What’s so Racist about what she said?
FOX News confirmed Tuesday that Ferraro, who has been a fundraiser for Clinton, is being investigated the DNC & The FBI on reports of money laundering and paying a high amount for a “hit-it and quit-it” romp with a couple of gay black male hookers.
Maybe Obama needs to quit HIS crying and playing the race game. Most of America is sooooo
over that routine.
Unbelievable, its a fact that Obama doing as well as he is because of his color. Whats wrong with stating that? Its important to talk about that because some people seem far to focused on his color and less focused on what really matter.. his qualifications! Its far to easy now days to be crticized about comments towards blacks.. especially if your white.
Another triumph for those who take offense at every little thing. Ferraro was correct in claiming that what she stated was merely fact and not racist. Ninety percent of blacks voted for Obama in Mississippi. Does anyone on God’s green earth believe that Obama would have gotten 90% of the black vote against Hillary if he were white? Instead of cowering and resigning Ferraro should just stand up and say, “Shut the hell up!”
Thank you for stepping down for the good of the Democratic Party. Please keep in mind that this nation is no longer inhabative by one ethnic group of people. Our nation is diverse with beautiful cultures other than your own. May this wake up call be a lesson for you.
Obama 2008
Mrs. Ferarro’s comments were hardly racist. She simply pointed out the truth, which is that if Senator Obama were any White Democrat with the same qualifications the contest would have been long over. Simply put the junior Senator from Illinois has no serious qualifications other than having reached the age of 35 years and being a natural born citizen of the United States which are the minimum requirements spelled out in the US Constitution.
The press should be asking Senator Obama why he is qualified to be president instead of oogling the crowds gathered to hear his oratory. If the press is truly the 4th branch of government as they often portray themselves, they should do their due dilgence and take a serious look at a man who has done nothing to prepare himself to lead this country, let alone the free world. Mrs. Ferraro sees this and points it out. Her comments were as usual taken out of context and used to portray her as racist because she is not an Obama supporter.
God Bless you Geraldine….
Sincerely
a poor conservative republican….
She should not have left for telling it like it is……
So much for freedom of speech……………
I think it is a pity when the truth is so inconvenient the people are raked over the coals for saying it. This is disgraceful. Gerry Ferraro spoke the truth. I am sorry if it hurts, but it is the truth. The press is so scared that they might be accused of racial bias that they don’t even bother to ask Obama a difficult question. This whole thing is a farce and Obama is laughing at all of us and taking advantage of race to steal the Democratic nomination.
This is getting stupid. The PC thought police are running amok!! When a person can’t say what they think, even when it is obvious, there is something wrong. If you are campaigning against Hillary, I am sure she is a monster!! Obama is black. Does ANYBODY really think he would have the attention or position he has if he were a white kid with big ears??
Get real. (Which won’t happen)
I am very disappointed that Ms. Ferraro is stepping down from the Clinton campaign. What she said was the truth. The Obama campaign is always playing the race card ! Black people are voting for Obama because he is black not because of his vast experience! Come on wake up!!
As much as I dislike Ferraro she was actually right. Obama plays the race card so skillfully nobody can accuse him of it. Hillary has tried similar tactics but is not smooth enough. Not as much teflon as Bill, I guess.
she said it like it is why should she resign
Figures. Whether she’s right or wrong, certainly there is evidence for her opinion. It’s not an open and shut case against. Vast proportions of black voters have voted for Obama, and many have said, more or less, that they’re doing so because he’ll be the first black president. That’s certainly evidence of a pattern, at least superficially. And certainly, it’s debatable isn’t it? Nope. All debate has now been closed and any inferences of such rebuked–without comment.
She hung in there for a day, and I’m proud of her for doing so. I also happen to agree with her on one point: Obama’s credentials, laid on some dopey white guy, would get that white guy no where. He has virtually -no experience- on any level. I repeatedly hear him say “When I was a community organizer…”
What is that? Is that an actual job? This guy isn’t prepared to be the CEO of a big company, let alone to run the US executive branch. I am better prepared to run the US than Obama, seriously. I have never had a job as a ‘community organizer,’ and I’m proud of this fact. I’ve actually had real jobs that contribute to causes greater than the color of my skin.
Gerry stated a fact. But, once again, team Obambi has successfully cried fowl. They did it to Bill Clinton prior to South Carolina, and now this…… How odd, that nobody dare say anything negative toward Obambi, cause its turned into a race issue. Shame on you! Gerry got it right.
Clinton/ Bayh 2008 !
It’s already starting down the path that everyone feared. Because Obama is black, every debatable argument that may have a hinge of race involved will be even more taboo then it has alreday become. With Obama’s experience, or lack there of, Ferraro has a great point. If he were a white politician from Chicago, would he be getting the same buzz? I mean, what exactly does Obama have to bring to the table other then his “Change we can believe in” slogan? Mr. Obama, with all due respect, what IS that change?? I STILL have yet to hear you say what that would be. Just merely bringing troops home from Iraq doesn’t cut it. The Iraq war isn’t 100% of our nations problems. Domestically, we need help as well. And if your going to refuse to answer those questions, it raises our question to whether you are fit to be our leader. On top of that, I agree with Geraldine.
This whole campaing has me sick I am a republican but it seems like everyone is bad mouthiong the other one. What a terrable example we are showing our children and our grandchildren not to mention the rest of the world. I heard what Geraldine said yesterday I honestly believe that Americans are far beyond the racist card I do not see that as a question in this day and age. Do I belive that the media favors individual canidates absolutly but because he is black I don’t think so.
Simply amazing. The Billary campaign continues to get away with their flagrant self imposed degenerate run for for the white house. What will it take for america to see that these two are absolutely nothing but pompous self righteous bigots that only wish for more power to reign in the american people under their control. They must NOT be allowed to gain any more control of leadership that they already have. AMERICA, FOR GODS SACK, JUST LOOK AT THEIR RECORD AND THEN VOTE OBAMA.
Who cares…?
She is right and everyone know this, including Barack Hussien Obama. I would not trust Obama leading a PTA committee. He is getting special treatment and everyone know that also. If he is elected President, our enemies will take advantage from his lack of leadership and experience.
