Report: Rezko Raised Up to $250G for Obama’s Early Campaigns
Indicted Chicago businessman Tony Rezko raised up to a quarter-million dollars for Barack Obama during his early days in politics, Obama admitted in an interview with the Chicago Tribune published Friday on the newspaper’s Web site.
The Tribune reports that in the interview Obama portrayed Rezko as a bigger fundraiser for his early campaigns than previously thought. Obama said Rezko raised as much as $250,000 to support Obama’s first three campaigns for political office.
The real estate developer is currently on trial in a federal court in Chicago on political corruption charges. Rezko doesn’t deny his role as a high-powered money man for Democrats, but he has refuted prosecutors’ allegations that he tried to shake down companies that wanted to do business with the state.
Hillary Clinton’s campaign has criticized Obama repeatedly for his ties to Rezko. Obama told the Tribune that he erred in pursuing real estate transactions with Rezko while the developer was under grand jury investigation.
Obama said he made “a mistake in not seeing the potential conflicts of interest,” since Rezko was a contributor, but added that voters still should trust him as a presidential candidate because he wasn’t engaged in any wrongdoing.

Why distant now? Why not 20 years ago? I am Asian, in a year or less I will be naturalize American Citizen…. English is my third language and apologize in advance of incorrect grammar. I don’t know if I have the right to show my disappointment with Obama’s response regarding his pastor’s racist and hateful rehtoric against whites and this country as a whole. I felt outrage and deep anger. I thought church is a place where you could find spiritual guidance for tolerance and forgiveness. Watching the videos for 2 minute make me sick in my stomach…It’s hard to imagine that after 20 years of being exposed to this kind of preaching that Obama himself would not also harbor the same sentiment and hatred.
I understand some black sentiment during slavery but, it wasn’t enough that Pres. Lincoln died for it? What about the hundred and thousand whites died to set them free during the civil war?
USA is a melting pot and land of immigrant….the present generation had nothing to do with it. Bill Cosby is a decent man to listen to for reality! I have a long admired conservative Black like Condi Rice, Colin Powell, Thomas Clarence, Michael Steele, JC Watt and many more……..
Obama is a big question for me to handle this great nation! I love and proud of this country eversince I’ve known it when I was a kid back in Asia. If given a chance now I would vote for McCain, knowing I will wake up the following day with America still intact.
