Report: Rezko Raised Up to $250G for Obama’s Early Campaigns

Border

Indicted Chicago businessman Tony Rezko raised up to a quarter-million dollars for Barack Obama during his early days in politics, Obama admitted in an interview with the Chicago Tribune published Friday on the newspaper’s Web site.

The Tribune reports that in the interview Obama portrayed Rezko as a bigger fundraiser for his early campaigns than previously thought. Obama said Rezko raised as much as $250,000 to support Obama’s first three campaigns for political office.

The real estate developer is currently on trial in a federal court in Chicago on political corruption charges. Rezko doesn’t deny his role as a high-powered money man for Democrats, but he has refuted prosecutors’ allegations that he tried to shake down companies that wanted to do business with the state.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign has criticized Obama repeatedly for his ties to Rezko. Obama told the Tribune that he erred in pursuing real estate transactions with Rezko while the developer was under grand jury investigation.

Obama said he made “a mistake in not seeing the potential conflicts of interest,” since Rezko was a contributor, but added that voters still should trust him as a presidential candidate because he wasn’t engaged in any wrongdoing.

Hello, Where is Oprah Winfrey now? Does she still think Obama is brilliant, how bright is she supporting a rasist?

The perfect facade is beginning to show a few serious cracks. A little deception here and there shouldn’t matter…should it?

The sum of money Obama has received from Rezko is ever growing. Back in January, after Clinton attacked him concerning Rezko, he gave some $70.000 to charity. On the 29th of January, he gave another $70.000, (http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/wireStory?id=4212623) so that all in all, he acknowlegded that Rezko and his family gave Obama at least $150.000.

Back in January, Obama’s spokesman Bill Burton claimed that:

“By refunding these donations [the above mentioned $150.000], the campaign has returned ANY and ALL funds that could be REASONABLY [my emphasis] credited to Mr. Rezko’s political support.”

Now we learn that $250.000 is closer to the truth. You would expect them to come up with the right numbers earlier, given the fact that they revised their books more than twice to come up with the innitial $150.000. I wonder how much more money will pop up during the trial.

Let’s face it, Obama is a liar and he is deep in the pockets of shady businessmen. Just see his house deal and the way he described Rezko’s role from hardly talked about it to “I went there with Rezko and asked him about his oppinion.”

Comment by Let him fade

BO is dishonest and it is coming through with overwhelming clarity. Just let him fade into the distance as an “almost-was”. I am angry that he destroyed the democratic party and has seriously harmed HIllary’s chances of becoming the next president. He needs to just go away.

Now the truth is starting to come out. More and more lies are being uncovered. What a shame this is all coming out this late in the race.

This chaos is nothing more than the result of a moronic and phony “celebration of diversity” that plagues democrats. Any other candidate would have been castigated long before Obama has been.

Comment by CLINTON HAS NO CLEAN HANDS!

could someone please get me another tub of popcorn…. watching the Democrat Party implosion has turned out to be the most fun i have had in many many years. If anyone saw Obama on FoxNews last night, you got a chance to see a man who is finally scared that he has been busted. The Limbaugh Effect in full swing here folks! If Hillary was out of the race already, all of this Obama Skeleton Show would have stayed tucked away in his Chicago closet while the campaigns began to focus on issues. With Hillary still in it, you can count on more and more Obama dirt to be uncovered, and more and more Hillary showing her unpresidential side. God i love this!
