ALBANY, N.Y. -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton praises the personal story of fellow Democrat David Paterson as he is sworn in as New York's first black governor.
"It is extraordinarily historic, but it is also a great moment of personal achievement for Gov. Paterson and I love the way he had his story connected with the story of New York," Clinton told The Associated Press.
The Democratic candidate for president was cheered when introduced but also heard shouts of "We want Obama!"
Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver quickly gaveled the house to order.
Paterson has campaigned for Clinton to help offset Sen. Barack Obama's gains in the black vote. Paterson is also a Clinton superdelegate. Both candidates are courting superdelegates who may decide the Democratic nominee.
