I will not condemn nor prosecute this man for the comments of his pastor. I will say that maybe what he took from these messages is not the further proliferation of hate and racism which a lot of these commentators seem to believe… maybe he listened to views from a man that he respected and heard truth, which is definitely the core of the statements, and instead of looking for ways to be divisive, used these messages as fuel. The fuel for change. Maybe just maybe that is why he wants change so badly. I can say that I have sat in college courses with professors spewing ideologies that I do not agree with, but I enjoyed the presentations. I have had comments made to me that I felt were wrong at the core, I did not increase my hatred because of them, theses comments only made me want to become more socially active. I do not know what Barack Obama was thinking as he heard these words, but I know that he is a crafted enough Politian to understand their ramifications. I do not believe that Barak Obama woke up a few months ago and said I think I am going to run for president. He has known this and has worked towards this for a long long time. I believe that there is no way that Mr. Obama could have heard these statements previously and not know what they could do for him and his aspirations. There is obviously more that we do not know… and I am not sure that it is necessarily our business to know. I say this because if the country is willing to elect Bush and McCain and they OPENLY believe and attend services that have ministers that preach homosexuality is wrong… with the homosexual population as large as it is… The reality is that as long as someone can run the country well, end the recession ( …or rather the economic downturn), end the war responsibly, keep Korea and Iran from killing us all, and not do any worse than George Bush Jr., Cheney, Greenspan, and Rumsfeld…what more can you ask for?

I believe that Rev Wrights comments can be helpful if we use it as a stimulator. Let his words motivate us to look at the world through the eyes of the depressed and face racism head on and not try to use it as a means of widening the races snd condeming eveyone that knows the person. I agree with many of the things that were said and I disagee with others . We all hear things everyday that we don’t entirely agree with but we don’t have to separate ourselves from that person.That attitude may cause us to separate from ourselves because we change our own opinions after more information and thinking. We work with people and try to understand their thinking and perhaps offer a different perspective. This attitude would foster unity. If we separate ourselves from eveyone that says something that we don’t fully agree with, we will be some lonely isolated people.Let’s try to focus on the positive and develop an understanding attitude that is amenable to change.

Well, I just have to say this: If Obama didn’t agree with Mr. Wright’s statements, why didn’t he leave the church? I, for one, have been placed in this very situation, and I’ll tell you what I did: I found another church to attend. The pastor held beliefs that I knew were un-Biblical, and he was teaching those beliefs to the congregation. I could not, in good conscience, continue to sit and listen to the false teaching. So, I left, and I took my family with me.

It is not okay to judge a person’s soul, but you can definitely tell from a person’s works/actions where the heart really is…If Obama were truly as much a ‘Christian’ as he’d like the public to believe, there’s no way he would have sat under a teaching he believed to be false. His conscience wouldn’t have allowed it.

I am probably going to be critisized for my comments here; but i shall make them nevertheless. First of all, we are acting as though we are not a country still deeply divided by racisim and a country that was not founded by racist ideologies. What Rev Wright has said, as eyebrow raising as it is, is the truth from an African American’s perspective. We have indeed been a nation that thinks it is okay to degregate fellow humans, we have treated them (blacks) as beneath us. We have indeed imported guns that have killed our own people. We have allowed the importation of the drugs that kill thousands of Americans yearly. We are a nation deeply in trouble, people! We need to face this fact. However, having said that; i can safely say that i will not be voting for Barack in this presidential election. I was previously a supporter for Barack, as i feel that our great nation is in desperate need of change. But in light of these events, i don’t feel that my president should be linked to such remarks, as truthful or not as they may be. We will always be a country divided by racism; but the ugliness of these issues don’t need to be given the power of words. I would like to see my president change these issues by example; and i just don’t feel Barack has done that. I would have liiked to have seen him walk away from these statements instead of backing them. I suppose we are not as ready as we would like to be for change. And frankly, maybe i am speaking from a “typical white person’s menatlity” when i say that if and when i vote for an African American to be my president, he will not be linked to racism; The last thing we need right now is some extremist in the African community to divide this country further than it allready is. We need unity here not separation. And as much as i respect Wright’s opinions, i don’t believe that they create unity for anyone. Black or white. So i guess i am voting for hilary!!!

The most condeming thing I see here about Mr. Wright is his use of God’s name in vain no Minster who loved the Lord thy God with his whole heart would ever, ever use that word. This guy is sick .
You can not possibly set under this man’s preaching for 20 years and have no ideal he feels this way, come on. We do NOT need a person that missed that in chruch on Sundays to be in the White House ever.

There is nothing racist or anti-white about the reverends truthful words. They are said with passion but based on facts. Did we not bomb hiroshima? Is it racist to acknowledge that we did?!! Is it racist to criticize your country? No! It is wise and american to be aware of what your country has done and is doing, and share the facts with others. Our country is a terrorist country. The reverend is obviously opposed to the terror that has been manufactured in our own country and abroad. If you find yourself offended by reverend jeremiah wright’s words, you are scared of the truth.

What he said there is disagreeable and offensive to many, sure…but there is more to the man’s sermons and his character, and for you to misrepresent him in this manner tells us all we need to know about how little you respect the intelligence of your viewers and readers.

Well, this is certainly pertinent to the election. I know for a fact that, among every person I have ever met, none has ever said any statement I disagree with. So, if anyone I know said something, you can be sure that I believe it and abide by it and live my life around its precepts. Feel free to apply this to me as soon as you apply it to yourself and every public figure you know. Also, thank you for pointing out the mote in Wright’s eye, but actually you might have a little … something … right there … in your - no, no, up a little … yeah, you got it. It’s a plank. In your eye. Yeah, you got it. Most of it.

I can’t believe this man calls himself a reverend. Nor can I believe Obama was unaware of this wolf’s anti-Semitic, anti-American sentiments, and I believe this is a nail in his political coffin. Obama had a very close and personal relationship with the man he calls “Uncle” for 20, count them, 20 years. How many opportunities did the candidate have to secede from this racist church? Obama’s attempts to distance himself have come far too little, far too late. One must wonder, does Obama share his reverend’s militant sentiments? It is very fair indeed to question the candidate’s membership with this dubious organization. Beware smooth talkers who refuse to answer questions.

This whole thing is sickning. This man is without a doubt among the most racist in the country. Obama first said to Major on fox that he has never heard Wright say something contreversial while in the congregation, and then says contrary in his speech on race. Furthermore the media is comparing Wright to a pastor who McCain likes, who has called homosexuality an abomination, and the islamic sacrifices for Allah an anti-christ. Read islamic scripture and see that it portrays an antichrist calling of its followers if judged in a biblical manner. Not to mention bible scripture that calls homosexuality an abomination. So to compare a biblical preacher, and a racist reverend in ludacris. Furthermore, Obama never explained WHY he stayed in association with the church for so long. Well contrary to Wright’s suggestions that Obama knows what it is like to be a poor black boy in a single parent home unlike Hillary is rediculous. Obviously Hillary is neither a male, nor black. Obama is however, 50% white, 0% of african american decent, never poor… top schools from childhood to Harvard Law, a single WHITE parent with very influential WHITE grandparents. Check your statements rev. Wright. Furthermore, how can a man of the christian faith that believes in biblical values have the most liberal voting record in the senate. Sure, no christian is without sin, but voting on issues means standing up for or taking away from the content of God’s word when the voter professes a christian faith. I believe Obama was a member of the church for two reasons: 1)He had no ties to the “traditional” black community(Juan Williams, Black Male); 2)He needed church ties to denounce any questions about his Muslim father and Atheist mother. Non-christians do not care if their candidate is christian or not, while christians want a christian leader, so church association is a win win situation. I also was shocked to hear his personal views on the fact that welfare is what has crippled the black community making black males lazy, while his whole campaign has been run with the opposing liberal views. I agree with what he said in his speech on the issue, but what does he believe. Is he ever going to stand on one side of an issue, or is he going to dance on both sides an try to continue his role of being a people pleaser and attracting the ignorant voters in America. The truth hurts!

I wonder what he has said behind closed doors. I also wonder whether Senator Obama even believes in what Rev. Wright was saying. Everyone at some point in time has been made to feel sub human. I mean, your own race could do that to you. Degradation of human beings should not be made into a black vs white issue but should be dealt with as a human vs bigotry issue.
