President Mike Gravel… appoints Ron Paul Secretary of the Treasury… yeah now we’re talking.

I was a Libertarian-turned-Republican to vote for Paul in the primary, I would vote for him over the other three clowns, but the LP nominates a candidate at their convention, by a vote of the real rank-and-file. I’m not sure that Gravel is gonna impress a lot of them. In ‘04 they passed up Aaron Russo (The Rose, Trading Places, America: FTF) for Badnarik. Gravel supporters would have to infiltrate the convention like Paul’s are trying to… Actually, that sounds much more possible in the LP.

I’m still hoping to see Paul on the ballot, but I would vote for Gravel.

A Paul/Gravel contest for nomination from Libertarian party might actually attract enough interest to propel the views of Libertarianism and inevitably Ron Paul with maybe a Gravel running partner into a race which could conceivably garner more interest than the lackluster circus act on center stage now.

Were Mike Gravel and Ron Paul to get together, they would be a formidable force in the bid for President/VP.

Here’s a scenario: the economy falls off the cliff in the summer; the people go to the polls in November, and elect neither a Republican or a Democrat, but a Libertarian!

Stranger things have happened in the history of American politics.

I’d much rather be a Libertarian than a Democrat as well. Something about personal freedom and minimal government is always appealing.
