Bob Barr Weighing Presidential Run

Former Republican Georgia Rep. Bob Barr is considering a run for president on the Libertarian Party ticket.
Barr told FOX News on Tuesday that he should know in the next few days whether he is going to go for it.
If he does decide to make an announcement in the next few days, Barr said it “would not be in either Washington or Atlanta.“
Another source todl FOX News that the announcement should happen this weekend, probably on April 5. That is the day Barr is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the Heartland Libertarian Conference in Kansas City, Mo.
Barr, who joined the Libertarian Party after leaving Congress in 2003, is looking to attract conservatives who are unhappy with the choice of John McCain as the expected Republican presidential nominee. McCain and Barr are at odds primarily over the role of U.S troops in Iraq, although both agree that tough interrogation methods should not be permitted.
FITNews, who was first to report the possible presidential bid, wrote that Barr will receive the endorsement of Texas Republican Rep. Ron Paul, a GOP presidential candidate who is still technically in the race but has not suggested he would throw his support to McCain. McCain and Paul, who ran on the Libertarian Party presidential ticket in 1988, also are at odds primarily over the role of U.S. troops in Iraq.
Barr, who represented Georgia’s 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House from 1995-2003 and served as a House manager during impeachment proceedings against former President Bill Clinton, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution last week that he identifies closely with Paul’s outlook.
“Ron Paul tapped into a great deal of that dissatisfaction and that awareness. Unfortunately, working through the Republican party structure, it became impossible for him to really move forward with his movement. But we have to have ….a rallying point out there to harness that energy, that freedom in this election cycle,” he said.

No!
what a way to split up the gop!
we won’t win against the dems if bob barr tries to “save the day.”
I’m a conservative who certainly does not agree with John McCain on every issue, but I sure as heck am smart enough not to throw away my vote by supporting Bob Barr. All that would mean is an easier pathway for Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton to slither their way into the White House, which would be disastrous for our country. Ralph Nader hurt Democrats in 2000, and I won’t help Bob Barr do the same this time to the GOP.
VOTE JOHN McCAIN in 2008!
Well, well, well, finally a breath of fresh air! Thank you Mr. Barr.
he’s got my vote!!
He’s about as important as Ron Paul to the presidential race. Both have the cowardice of liberals when it comes the war. People like them put this country at risk.
Give it a rest Bob.
I might support this guy instead of Obama.
Great man for the job.
Understands the Second Amendment and doesn’t have Paul’s whiny voice.
would make a good VP too.
Ego trip.
Yea Baby!
Now it gets interesting.
since Barr joined the ACLU !!!! no vote from me.
This will give the election to Obama.
Mr. Barr, please don’t bother to turn this into your circus by trying to run….stay out!
Great, another idiot to divide the party endorsed by no other then the last idiot.
Gosh, these guys are imbued with such a sense of self-importance. Barr says Ron Paul has tapped into the bedrock of conservative dissatisfaction. I guess that means Barr is going to fight hard for those same 14 delegates. Good luck and may the biggest fool win!
I do not want either Bob Barr or Ron Paul to run for president at this time. I do not believe they can win.
I think they might bring about a Democratic win. That is the worst of all possible outcomes. There will be another presidential race in four years. McCain probably will not want to run at that time. Then Bob Barr and Ron Paul can run. NOT NOW.
Why mess up the Republican opportunity that the Democrats have made by offering two - TWO - unelectable candidates and then permitting them to dog-fight each other until all hope for either of them to be elected is lost.
Bob and Ron, just bide your time. You still have time.
Be honest now, do you really want to hand the election over to the Dems? The Republicans have it at this point.
Just what is needed, another arrogant attorney trying to upset the chance that we, Republicans, have to keep the worse of the worse individuals selected to represent the Democratic party.
Bob Barr is slime.
Oh… and why is is Barr is no longer in Congress? Oh yeah that’s right… WE DON’T CARE!! And with all due respect to Congressman Paul and his followers… neither he nor they were Republicans anyway. I’d rather them vote for Barr than go crazy and vote for Obama.
If Republicans and all other “Thinking” Conservatives want to see Hillary or Obama choosing the Judges who have lifetime appointments on the Bench……. then go ahead and support ANYONE BUT John McCain.
However, if you want to take off the tunnel vision glasses and realize that there are FAR MORE than single pet issues at stake in this election…. you will see that McCain is far from the “lesser of 3 evils”. John McCain is by FAR the superior choice!!
Obama for 8 years. Hillary for 8 years. Or McCain for 4 years.
ANY thinking conservative will choose McCain.
Idiot is the only word you can use for those two. So I guess to prove a point, they would rather have the twit Obama or the communist Clinton to win. If those two do what they are planning, I hope they are kicked so far out of politics, they can never return!!
How stupid, why would Fox even show this? He is a no body looking for publicity, just that simple!
ANY Republican but McCain.
It’s about time we got a libertarian voice in our government.
Even though he is a fellow Texan, I have to say Paul is looking more like a joke every day. And as far as I am concerned Barr is just as bad.
I have been saying from the beginning that the only way for us to lose this election is for some idiot on the far right to jump in as a third-party candidate and mess everything up. As a Republican and a conservative, there are certainly some issues on which I disagree with John McCain. However, I also understand the reality of politics and that a third-party candidate, however “conservative” he claims to be, will only lead to a Democrat president. So the choice is ours–do we vote for someone we agree with 60% of the time (McCain) and win, or vote for someone we MIGHT agree with 80% of the time (Barr) thereby resulting in someone we agree with 0% of the time (Obama or Hillary) being elected? At some point, Republicans will have to learn a lesson (Perot 92, Perot 96 both resulting in a Clinton in office) and get behind one person for the good of the country. If it’s the beginning of the second quarter, first and ten and you are on your own 15 yard line, do you go for a Hail Mary? Of course not! You hand the ball off and pick up 3 or 4 yards, gradually marching down the field until you reach your goal. I sure hope Barr thinks twice about this and realizes that the good of the country outweighs his ego. Besides, how can we expect our president top be taken seriously by foreign leaders if he is sporting a motorcycle cop mustache like that?
Idiots. I have two words for Barr and Paul: Ross Perot. Two more: President Obama. What part of stay the hell out of the race do these cretins not understand? That’s all we need is some kook to hand another election to the Dems, though they so desparately don’t deserve it. Are there enough Conservative-leaning voters stupid enough to vote for a Barr-Paul ticket? I hope not. That is how the first Clinton got in, and he turned out to be a Bozo who destroyed the dignity of the office, squandered the Reagan/Bush economic boom, and almost destroyed a lot of other things we might ought to keep around (like the US military). Yes, the “King of the Peace Dividend,” a typical Liberal Democrat dreamer in a world of reality, was put into office because H. Ross Perot ran. Twice. It bears saying one more time about Barr/Paul: they’re IDIOTS.
Finally, a real conservative running for president! Barr in ‘08 - All the way!
I can not believe you people. You put down the one that truly care’s and love’s America.I’m not talking about Bill .Hillary has a heart and want’s to help us, We ask for here to run for President last time .She is not a liar like some other’s.She doesn’t control the Internet like some are taking bad new’s off before we see it.But we =the people have saved copy’s.Like in Rezko trail before Easter, some seen the court for the day what was said and who was charged.Get OFF HILLARY’S BACK..You have it all wrong. She is good no bad tie’s with bad people. She is for all people. If you vote for Obama you can thank your self for them taking over America,so all is to do bend over and kiss your as_ go by.VOTE FOR HILLARY..
Realy proud of a conservative who would attempt to take votes from Mc Cain to help Obama or Clinton.
Pull your head in!!!
Haven’t you ever seen a wind sock at the airport, it follows the wind, so, why would you expect anything different from Booze Bottle Barr, as he sings, go me the way to show home. Wonder how much the Clinton’s coffers are contributing in windfall to this useless wind sock. Maybe this will be his legacy, “look grand kids, I almost did something in my life what ever it was I was doing at that time.” His nickname should be “flip a coin.” Ron Paul doesn’t have a clue either. It is obvious he is a bad/vindictive loser.
This is not the year of the 3rd party candidate. He’s got no chance except to tilt the scales from one person or another.
A mischief player.
Conservative Republicans wont be voting for him, but some liberal libertarians who otherwise might vote Obama-nation might vote for him.
Conservatives will stay home if they can’t support McLame. If Obama_Nation and sHillary weren’t so deplorable I’d vote for Ronald Reagan’s Dead Corpse.
Unfortunately, in this election we don’t have that luxury.
I’ll be using my vote to support the candidate that can most likely defeat the deplorable poverty promoting and Al-Qaida sympathizing democrat.
That person will not be Bob Barr.
I would think that Barr was losing his mind had I not seen ample proof that he lost it several years ago. I guess if you go far enough to the right you really can wind up on the left.
The Libertarians have been going nowhere since they surfaced. And good thing, too.
This will be a disaster for our country, for with a third party conservative in the race, so many unthinking republicans will vote for Barr (who cannot possibly win) that McCain may very well lose the election. Obama is not just a liberal.. he is a Marxist… a collectivist… a commie fergodssake! The four years he is in charge with a democrat congress will bring horrific changes in our freedoms that may never go away.
Do Libertarians really want to lose the freedoms we still have? Barr’s entry will accomplish just that! What a selfish egotistical thing to do… sacrificing our America to socialists just so he can make his point.
I agree with Libertarians about 90%, and I’d happily vote for one IF he ever had a chance to win. But in 2008 we need to AVOID a socialist president, and Barr will act only as a spoiler to assure the commies take over.
My wife and I are not satisfied at all with Senator McCain, but if Bob Barr runs a separate campaign there is no way he can win the election and it will take votes from McCain and Obama will become President. Although McCain is not the best, he would be better than any Democrat in some ways, such as, his prosecution of the war against terror, the likelihood that he would nominate more conservative judges for the Supreme Court and other judge positions and he would not be for any kind of national health care.
While we’re at it….. At the last minute, lets put Ronald McDonald and Mickey Mouse on the ticket.
If someone from Georgia was going to run, why not at the very least Zell Miller?? I know he’s a Dem, but a very intellegent Dem at that.
Bad news for the GOP, but then again, Nader’s run, should anyone in the civilized world notice it, could also hurt the DEMS. May end up being a 4-way race.
Yap This guy’ll get 5% of the vote and Barrack Obama will beat McCain by a slim margin and the US will have another Jimmey Carter for President.
More candidates equals more ideas. More ideas equals better averages that a practicle one will emerge. More practicle ideas emerging equals more implementation. More implementation equals more change.
The only possible reason for Ron Paul and/or Bob Barr to enter the race is that they have a strong desire to see Clinton or Obama as President.
Bob’s changes of being elected are zero. Perhaps he will run because he considers it a matter of principle. If so, then he is putting himself before the people of this country. According to the article, he wants to pull support away from McCain.
I don’t particularly care for McCain. I think he’s a terrible choice for Republicans, but he would be infinitely better than either of the two Democratic candidates.
Finally, a real choice in this election!
I was all set to stay home Nov. 2, if Bob Barr runs for President I will vote! Finally a candidate I can trust.
Barb
Speak up America…. Show this country that we are tired of having the 2 parties keep us at each other throats, just so they can stay in power. If each of you who say you are sick and tired of this and that would stand up and “Throw your vote away” Like the 2 parties say. Then we can finally see real change. Not just lip service. They scare you into voting for what they want you to believe, the lesser of 2 evils. I will throw my vote away this November as they say, because we need to fix this system. Step up America, Stop complaining… Vote for real change. Vote Libertarian
I am a Republican from Georgia and when Bob Barr was also a Republican I supported him and his conservative views. However, since he left congress he is not the same person. The first evicence that he had lost his conservative views was when he went to work for the ACLU. That was clear evidence that he was no longer the conservative he wanted us to believe.
If he is considering running for President to give conservatives a person to support he has lost a perspective as to who he is and what conservatives believe.
Tom Dye, Georgia
Barr’s run will only serve to give the election to the Democrats. Bah humbug!!!!!
At last an alternative to the stupidity of the other three.
Wow… maybe I will have a candidate to vote for in November after all.
I know Bob Barr. I was in the Republican Party with him when he thought he was a Republican. He thought he was a Christian and he certainly was a zealot. I do not want him as my President.
In 1999, during the impeachment trial of President Clinton, Hustler Magazine publisher Larry Flynt offered money to anyone who could provide evidence that a prominent Republican had engaged in an extramarital affair. According to the American Journalism Review, “Barr was one of 13 House Republicans chosen to act as prosecutors in Clinton’s Senate trial. Barr, Flynt’s investigators found, was guilty of king-size hypocrisy: An outspoken foe of abortion, the Georgia lawmaker had acquiesced to his then-wife having an abortion in 1983. And he had invoked a legal privilege during his 1985 divorce proceeding so he could refuse to answer questions on whether he’d cheated on his second wife with the woman who is now his third.” Wikipedia.
Bob should just stay home and let the Republican Party run McCain for President while the Democrats eat their young between SlickHill and WrightObama.
While I admire Bob Barr for his past effort as a conservative Pub, I
strongly would urge him to NOT make a presidential run , which will
only further fragment our Republican party, thus possibly ensuring
a Demo win in Nov……………..that’s not our nation needs.
Barr and Paul — sounds like a winning team to me. There is hope America — another party entering this race may be what we have all been hoping and praying for. God Bless America and lets get our wonderful troops home.
While I agree mostly with Libertarian ideas, I think it would be stupid to run at this point because it would surely hand the White House to a Democrat. At least McCain would be closer to the Libertarian position than Clinton/Obama.
All I can say is a dumb move on his part. If he doesn’t like McCain then vote Hillary or Obama. The least he could do is take a side that has a chance at the presidency. What a cry baby!!!
Ron Paul needs a check-up from the neck-up because he is a LIBERAL Democrat in the wrong party as a republican. Georgia Rep. Bob Barr is yet another Liberal Democrat who was in the wrong party as a Republican.
Why don’t these politicians just do the job they have been put there by the people to do. Instead they do what ever they want and break the rules instead of the following the constitution.
This can be nothing more than an effort to exercise an old grudge. He is not a conservitive or republican if he wants to step in muddy the waters. He knows he doesn’t have a prayers chance in Hell of getting off the ground and all he can do with his effort is help elect a democrat
just like the “banty rooster” Perot did. He should shut up and let his sleeping dog SLEEP.
Despite his high sounding rhetoric, Bob Barr knows perfectly well that if he were to go forward with this, it would lead to the election of Barak Obama. Maybe this is a tactic to keep McCain from lurching too far leftward and then sometime in October urge his followers to vote McCain.
As a member of the Christian right, I could get behind a conservative who decided to run a third party campaign that focused on fighting abortion, opposing the gay agenda, promoting school choice, and insisting on the presentation of evidences against Darwinism.
Our coalition known as the Republican party need not splinter when our side does not get its way in the primary process. I hope conservatives treat the Barr/Paul fringe the way the Left seems to be treating Ralph Nader. Ignore him.
Barr makes Obama and Hillary look like conservatives. Who is behind this and how much is Barr being paid to throw this election?
I would like to hear how he feels about deportation of the illegals and would he close the borders? would he not give amns. to the masses that are here now?
The Democrats have to deal with Nader pulling from their base and now the Republicans will have to deal with Barr pulling from their base. Hopefully, the effect of these two known losers will net itself out. Some people will do anything for publicity and to get their 15 minutes of fame.
In both cases, it’s simply a waste of time, money, and energy. I hope that the American public is in no way funding these ‘campaigns’.
If Mr. Barr or Mr. Paul put their names on the ticket in the National Campaign for President, they will ensure only one thing… There will be a Democrat in the White House. They have NO chance of being elected & will only ensure the Democrats will.
Barr should not run, he will split the conservative vote, and we will end up with an obamanation.
Ron Paul endorsement? Bob Barr? Ridiculous.
Ross Perot anyone? Now is not the time for party spoilers. Lets get through this election and we can go as far right as we want to after!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the love of God!! enough is enough.. This has to be the worst primary that i can ever remember, and now this joker wants to jump in. By the way Fox? Why dont you ask the question on your blog ” do you think Obama is hurting the democratic race by staying in?” The polls showed both parties getting 22% saying that each party should drop out, but yet the media continues to trash Hillary. Get Obama the hell out of there.
What an opportunist! This person knows he has zero chances of becoming president, and good chances of taking away votes that would have gone to John McCain, thus increasing the chances that a Democrat will be our next president.
Great!, that’s just great. Split the vote and get a Democrat in the Whitehouse. What is wrong with these guys? Now that McCain has a great chance at winning, they want to screw it up by splitting the ticket. I think Ron Paul and Bob Bar are closet Democrats!!!!!!!!!!!
I supposed Barr is wanting a Democrat to win the election? Why else would you begin a stunt like this?
Stay out of this Bob! I’m not happy with Mccain as the Republican nominee either, but consider the alternative. You’re not going to win. Redirecting Conservative votes is handing the election to the left! Mccain may be a luke warm choice at best, but Clinton or Obama would be a disaster. Stay home, donate some money to Johnny boy’s campaign and let’s at least pretend. Otherwise, it’s higher taxes for everyone!
Bob Barr won’t take nearly as many votes from McCain as Nader will from Obama/Clinton. The Democratic divide will create tons of unhappy liberals who will identify with Nader’s platform much more than any McCain voter could identify with Barr’s.
At last there’s something I can believe in…
Run, Bob, Run!
Too late for this cycle,Bob.
If you start now,you may be ready for 2012 cycle.
Lest youbecome another Ross Perot.
Bob Barr has some great ideas and works hard to keep the government out of our lives as much as possible. As others have said, he doesn’t stand a chance of winning, only of taking votes away from McCain. I wish he would work with McCain to modify McCain’s stances and pull in the unhappy conservatives that will follow Barr. The Republican Party would be much stronger if it would listen to the people that Barr represents. There are more of us than the “leaders” realize.
Smart, real smart! Take votes away from someone who could actually win. Might as well give it to the Dems.
and who made Bob Barr a promise to his advantage — Hilary or Nobama?
I still think if Newt got in this last September we would be in good shape and McCain was my LAST choice but he is now the only hope for saving the nation from the far left! Old lesson: Win from the middle and govern from the Right! Bob Barr could serve as a good tool for a McCain administration but for him to run is to stand in the corner alone and a waist of good time and talent.
Maybe Barr wants to be Obama’s VP, because if he runs, he will only be trying to get Obama elected. We understand you and your whacko buddy Ron Paul don’t agree with the war in Iraq, Bob, buy how do you feel about the rest of the liberal agenda? If you’re all for socialism, go for it! Otherwise, STAY HOME AND VOTE McCAIN!!
Is this an April fools joke???????? If not it ought ot be!!!!!
I am from Texas and don’t care what Ron Paul has to say about the elections. He had his time in the spotlight during the primaries. I am tired of politicians doing things for the betterment of themselves instead of the country. Ron Paul and Barr will not effect the elections like Nader does, so they are only doing this for their own gratification.
Growing old is manditory, growing up is optional.
Rep. Barr’s decision to run for President is not a wise decision. A third party run has never been successful. The only one that came close was Teddy Roosevelt in the Bull Moose party. For a third party to be successful, it has to take roots in each state and elect people to state and federal positions before you can hope to be successful in running for the top job. Should by some miracle, Barr would win, his effectiveness as President would be zero simply because he would have no support from within Congress. It would be the Dems and GOP against the Lib.
I for one would like to see a third party take a strong hold in every state, but you don’t do that by running for the top job. I like Barr probably more than McCain, but I have to be realistic and so does Barr. Also, Barr is not well known. Who is he? What has he done? He is an unknown. Look at Richardson who was running for President who was by far the best candidate of all the lot and he did not make a showing because he was not a celebrity. People did not know who he was and he was not willing to prostitute himself to the political gods. He is a man of intergity, something Americans no longer appreciate.
Barr, forget running for the President and run for Senate as a Lib and see how far you get.
If republicans are so worried about Barr stealing votes why dosent McCain drop out of the race and throw his support behind Barr. That will ensure a republican.
Bob Barr for President? Campaign Could Change Georgia’s Political Landscape Forever
Atlanta Georgia: With the news that former Republican Congressman Bob Barr may be considering seeking the Libertarian Party nomination for president of the United States, Georgia Libertarians see the potential for historic change in Georgia politics.
As a “third party”, Libertarians must follow tough ballot access laws which are considered some of the most restrictive in the nation.
In the 1980’s the Libertarian Party of Georgia (LPGa) gained statewide ballot access by garnering the required 1% of registered voters and has maintained access by exceeding the 1% vote requirement. However, in order to run local and district races, candidates are still required to petition for ballot access. This petitioning process is considered to be unfair and prohibitive. No third party candidate has ever successfully met the requirement since it became law in 1943.
Georgia law also says that in order to be a “Political Party” rather than a “Political Body” it must receive 20 percent of the votes in a gubernatorial or presidential race. By receiving the 20 percent this will mean Libertarians will have full ballot access and be able to participate in the primary election process.
How does Bob Barr affect this issue?
With Bob Barr’s name recognition in Georgia and a strong political network, he could theoretically receive the 20 percent of the votes needed to allow the Libertarian Party to gain full ballot access and run local candidates; leveling the playing field.
James Bell, communications director for LPGa., said a Barr presidential bid would propel the Libertarian Party to the forefront of a national public debate about taxation and personal freedom.
“The Republicans are holding their noses over the apparent nomination of John McCain and we see the potential that many fiscal conservative and civil libertarians will just ship and vote Libertarian in 2008”, Bell said.
“There is great deal [of] dissatisfaction with the candidates for the two major parties, particularly among conservatives, but also a great deal of Internet and other support for a candidate like Ron Paul who advocates libertarian and true conservative principles,” said Mr. Barr, who is now a Libertarian. – Washington Times
To suggest that the main (only major) difference between Rep. Barr (also Dr. Paul) and Senator McCain is the war in Iraq is a gross oversimplification at best. Their fiscal conservatism, desire for limited federal government, and constitutional ideals is what sets Rep Barr and Dr. Paul apart from the rest. Good luck to Rep Barr.
Let’s see now. If real conservatives don’t vote, we end up with a socialist-tyrant - Hillary, or the Marxist - Obama. If real conservatives join in with the GOP, we end up with the socialist, back-stabbing McCain, who really loves the Democrat platform more than conservatism. So, it doesn’t matter if the conservatives don’t vote for McCain, because no matter what we’ll end up with a liberal in the White House.
Therefore, I will vote for a REAL conservative. I am done with the GOP’s pre-programmed liberals in GOP clothing. Bob Barr has been a proven conservative, and it will take a strong conservative with a strong message to straighten this country out. I’m going to look hard at Bob Barr with the Libertarians and the possibility of Alan Keyes with the Constitution Party.
The rest of you that are so loyal to the GOP Tories go ahead and vote for your socialist McCain.
Earned Votes.
For all of those who say he will pull votes from McCain you must remember one thing. A candidate has to earn your vote. It is not simply given away. Just like Nadar earned votes that Gore did not get. As a conservative I do not agree with John McCain simply jumping across the isle. Therefore my choice was to not even vote at all. Thus ever Republican candidate senate/house would not have received a vote. With Barr possibly running some may now get a vote.
The Republican Party has chosen its running mate. John McCain is the best choice. I am a conservative Christian, but I recognize that another conservative candidate will only split the vote and hand the election to Obama or Clinton. Stop being so legalistic and support the best man for the job - John McCain. We have had a conservative president in the white house for 8 years and we continue to have abortion as well as a strong gay marriage movement. One man cannot change these two evils, but over time, with the right person in the White House, judicial appointments will change our country.
I think it’s great to have a Libertarian running. I also think too many people don’t know what Libertarians stand for. And it’s not about political jockying for position - it’s about voting based on principle. Our two partry system stinks as it is now. (And I wonder how many of the above comments came from Democrates?)
It is too late for Bob Barr to get into this race. It will only hurt the John McCain’s chance to win. I am a conservative and will not vote for Bob Barr simply because it is more of a ploy to pull votes from Republicans.
Maybe next time, Bob.
Say what you will, this is still a free country, at least for now.
With Freedom comes Responsibility.
Too many are looking for the freedoms without the responsibility of owning the consequences of their choices.
If you don’t stand for something, you WILL fall for anything. (Right along with the rest of this country who is looking for politicians and goverment to take care of them)
I hate all the candidates. Why does it seem like now days we always have to pick the lesser of 2 evils. I hate to say it but maybe this country needs someone like Obama to tear it into ruin so people can get down to earth and elect a President and Representatives who don’t hate this country and will end the big government Nanny state. I just want to be left alone to run my own life. Let just hope terrorists don’t hit us while we are down.
In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.
Ronald Reagan, Inaugural Address, January 20, 1981
These “fringe” candidates (Barr/Nader) represent a 2-7% popular vote risk to the mainstream candidates. Without their involvement, McCain/Obama would barely address the topics at all because they can rely on the “lesser of two evils” decision process carrying these votes to their camp in the end.
As a Libertarian, I hope Barr does run as he would better represent the principles of freedom, limited government, and personal responsibility. McCain would have to pay notice because they are a lot of us.
Will guarentee a democrate in the White House.
Yea Dan, great idea….let’s all cower in fear to the Republican establishment, telling them that they can do what ever they like and we will follow it out of fear of the other guys. That will cause the party to improve.
Where does Barr stand on support for the Troops and their mission? I heard Paul’s message but I did not like his Democratic stance on pulling out. Just because you quit fighting does not mean your enemy will quit fighting.
GOP cannot afford to this. McCain needs to talk to Barr and Paul and get this resolved.
We may not like it, but Barr has as much right to run as anyone. The democratic process is more important than any single election or person. I say, let him run.
Barr is a piece of trash. A poster boy for sorid acts.
My dad used to say there’s not a rats ass diference between the republicians and democrates. Its time we american’s accept that fact and accept the mess we are in and make a change. The two major parties are bought and paid for. Let’s unit behind a new party and hope for something good for the people who need it. If we don’t we will all be makeing bricks for pharoah.
His running will syphon off votes for John McCain thereby guaranteeing a Democrat victory in November!
Both are good men who will not pander to anyone for a vote. Barr has a long track record of honesty and integrity. This, sadly, is incredibly rare in public service today. Unfortunately, most of the American people are so illiterate they just can’t see through the lies and nonsense the other candidates dish out. America will continue to head down the tube.
