Seriously!! This is absurd to the worst degree. When did we lose our common sense…?

This is why I am not a Democrat. This is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard.

I find this absolutely unbelievable and at the same time it doesn’t surprise me in the least. I can not understand how the citizens of this country have allowed political correctness to replace common sense. How long until a class action lawsuit is filed for an entire generation of children who have been forced to grow up without a spine because they have been shielded from such “unacceptable” comments as these. Imagine who would have been blamed if the kids actually fell and were hurt and it was discovered that this woman knew the dangers of this particular tree in advance and failed to warn the delicate children. I bet the same mom who complained about the remark would be first in line to complain about that as well. When did we become a society of victims? How long before the “unoffended” become the minority so we can have a voice?

It is kind of safisfying in a way to see the liberal democrats get caught in the PC trap they have been setting for Republicans for so long. I can’t remember when I have enjoyed a democratic primary as much as I have this one. Let me get a fresh bag of popcorn and let the show go on.

How horrible that Ramirez-Sliwinski’s statement was so misunderstood. Many, many parents and adults have told their children they were being Little Monkeys when they saw them climbing in trees or being overly active. This is NOT a racial slur and it is not abuse in any form. My neighbor’s children once stood in front of my house and shouted obscenities of all types to me. I called the police and was told there was nothing that could be done unless they stepped into my yard. I objected to the foul language but had to put up with it. Then this lady says something totally innocent and gets a fine and loses her status as a super delagate? Since I’m not an Obama supporter, I should be happy that he’s lost a vote and I am, but I don’t like the fact that an innocent woman was punished.

When my children were young, they climbed over everything (as kids do). I called them little “monkeys” all the time. All kids act like monkeys. Crazy. It is interesting to watch the “PC” folks feed on each other like this though.

If a race feels a certain name is offensive and degrading to them.., why not stop calling them that name. Black footballers in Europe are having to put up with this kind of racial slur for some time now. Why must people complain when black ask not to be racially insulted. If the pastor comment again against then they would accuse him of race division. I saw recently how latino kids beat up a white kid for speaking/writing against immigration. So why must same latino call black monkey and expect it to be business as usual. We all know what is offensive so we should stop doing or saying the wrong things. i am a white Mother, grandmother. I always called my children a bunch of monkeys as an affectionate remark. My grandmother also used to call them little monkeys when they acted up. No offense intended or taken. To fine her $75.00 for using that is utterly amaziing. How are we supposed to unite when things like this happen?

To call kids in a tree monkies is NORMAL! Good grief!

I raised four (white-hispanic) kids, called them monkies when they were acting like monkies, even said, “Hey, you’re on TV when monkies would be on the screen.”

And, my kids turned out great! Two graduated as salutatorians of their high school classes. One finished college last year, two are in college, now. All are outstanding citizens.

Little by little the “American Way” of life is deteriorating. This is a classic case of self-destruction - no need for the Jihadist to do it. We are pitting ourselves against each other. The sad thing is we are allowing it to happen! When are we going to wake up and realize that we are our own worst enemy? I think it is time we stand up and make our voices heard regarding not only “political-correctness(PC) but a myriad of other issues that are tearing the heart and soul from the american way of life.

What America needs are true leaders. What we do not need is more of what we already have in Washington DC and our own state and local governments - Corruption, Sex, Slander, Lies, Self-Promotion, Greed, Lust, Gluttony, Deception and Pride. No wonder many of these are listed among the seven deadlysins!

America and americans need real change(not sure whether McCain is the answer but quite sure Obama and HRC are not) and a period of self evaluation. We as americans need to shed our passive and unassuming state of being and take back control of the steering wheel and utilize the power of the vote to implement change ourselves.

What a great idea! I am so glad someone finally realized that calling names does hurt. We should all get right on the band wagon and call the police everytime someone calls a kid a name. I am sure the police need more to do! Or, let’s put police officers in all the schools to fine every kid who calls another kid a bad name. And maybe they can even arrest the kids that use the really bad words. Would it be going too far to have child services do home studies in these homes? After all, people who teach their kids to call other kids names must have learned it from their parents. And judging from all the people commenting, there are a lot of them out there.

It is amazing that a party which prides itself on protecting freedom of speech (for all except Christians that is) would make an issue of this not-so-well-thought-out remark. It is nonsensical, at best. Political correctness has run amok in this country. While, as a Christian, I do not support racism in any form whatever, I DO support reasoned thinking. THINK. Why do ever-increasing numbers in the country I so love refuse to THINK?

This story is just another example of blacks jumping on any little situation to scream, “racism”. Maybe the day will come when their being so thin skinned and there is that abscence of that chip on their shoulders, we can all relax and not take everything as an insult to our race. We all have the right to choose (without intimidation from pundits and media). As we step into that voting booth and pull that curtain - it’s our power - not yours or anyone elses. This is totally ridiculous! Calling children in trees “monkeys” is not racially motivated in any way. I was called a monkey when I was a child climbing in trees, on furniture, etc. We all call children climbing in trees monkeys, regardless of skin color. Their race has no bearing whatsoever. This is just another example of someone being overly sensitive about something of absolutely no significance. I echo the sentiments of another post asking why this woman was asked to leave the campaign when Rev. Wright spews hateful, racist, acrimonious rhetoric.

Just the fact that people are so narrow minded is amazing to me. I suppose the ONLY reason she was calling them “monkeys” is because they were black children. I suppose there’s no way, no reason, she could have been calling them “monkeys” because they were swinging in the tree. I am a white woman with white children (15 & 17) and other children visit our home frequently. When they act like monkeys I tell them they look like a bunch of monkeys. When the leave their rooms a mess I tell them they are pigs! I guess it’s a good thing that as a white woman I’ve not been reported to the authorities as being racist to my children or the other children (young adults) visiting our home. Not everything said needs to be twisted to meet the desires of those individuals such as Dametta Stewart whom insist on making everything about race. Sometimes it REALLY IS as simple as it seems.

This is just nuts. I have a huge family and some are white and some black some Mexican and one from Pakistan. Calling a child a monkey is a playful term and not a racist remark. We have people dying in Iraq and Afghanistan, gas prices are $4.oo a gallon in some places, people are losing their jobs and their homes, health care has become a priviledge, and a bunch of kids acting like monkeys in a tree is news worthy! You can be assured that if they HAD fallen out of the tree and been sriously hurt, the mother of the “monkey” children would have been more than ready to sue the owners of the tree they fell out of! People need to get a grip and stop being so over-sensitive! That this comment would be “racially motivated” is asinine! Look at it logically: Monkeys (most people think of Chimpanzees when they hear the word) are roughly human-shaped and child-sized and are the best known animal to climb around and play around in the trees. That’s what they do… So when a bunch of children are climbing up into a tree and jumping around and playing in a similar fashion it’s reasonable that that is the image that would come to mind - regardless of the color of skin. It has nothing to do with perceived racial insensitivity and the “assumed attitude” of anyone NOT black in America and everything to do with children being children and do what children (and animals) do - playing, in this case in a tree (like the well known animals that find trees to be such darn fun to frolic in).

If we, as a nation, are ever to get past the racial issue (it’s sadly misrepresented by that term, as we’re all ONE race - human) we need to get over the hang-ups caused be the “they hate us” mentality that cause a side or another to automatically assume and accuse any other of being “racist” just on the belief that anything done that could only be seen as offensive when twisted and skewed by these warped sense of identity is done for the reasons that these archaic and dangerous ways of thinking assume they are. In other words - lets give people the benefit of the doubt, lets stop assuming that the person you see with differing tones of skin around you hate you because you’re different from them and that they are “out to get you.” We’ll all be a lot better off for it - even if all it does is temper little incidents like this from occurring (and hopefully it’d keep them from becoming “scandals” and worthy of any (much less national) news.)!
