Elizabeth Edwards Backs Hillary Clinton Health Care Plan

Border

WASHINGTON — Elizabeth Edwards put in a plug Wednesday for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s health care plan — possibly the closest any Democratic presidential candidate is likely to get to an endorsement from former rival John Edwards or his wife. Both Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama have been seeking the backing of John Edwards, whose home state — North Carolina — holds a primary on May 6 with 115 delegates at stake.

“Both candidates have called John and wanted to talk to him, and we continue to talk to them about what’s going on, but we think that what we have to offer them is not so much an endorsement as a perspective on what we found as we crossed the country on what people think are important issues and the solutions that seemed most realistic,” Elizabeth Edwards said in an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

Edwards, who discovered last year that the cancer she thought she had beaten had returned, said she prefers Clinton’s health care plan, which would require everyone to have health insurance and offers assistance to those who can’t afford to buy coverage.

Obama’s plan requires all parents to have health insurance for their children, but doesn’t mandate that all adults buy coverage.

“I do think that in order to ensure that we have universal coverage we need to say that everybody has to join, so for that reason the mandates that Senator Clinton is talking about I think will actually be more successful in achieving the goal,” Edwards said.

“I think they both have the same goals, I just have more confidence in Senator Clinton’s policy than Senator Obama’s on this particular issue,” she said.

I dont agree with Hillary’s health plan, I dont feel we should have our pay check garnish for medical insurance, as a young person in college I choose not to have insurance until I get a full time job that pays good money and has good benefits. Its my choose and I dont feel her plan will benefit me.

The fact that she likes her health plan does not mean the Edwards will endorse her.The Edwards have been very cautious with this endorsement and will not endorse Hillary because she can’t win. John Edwards understands that Obama can unify the country more than Hillary and wants change not the status quo.

I watched Robins interview with Elizabeth Edwards on GMA this morning and I thought it was very interesting. I pray that Robin and Elizabeth beat this illness that they have. Elizabeth is a very classy person and very smart and I think the perfect ticket would be Hillary and Edwards. They make a great pair, they both are intelligent people. Not like OBAMA, he needs to BACK OUT. It’s only his people that are telling Hillary to drop out because they are IDIOTS.

Mrs. Edwards is not a Super Delegate. however her passion still matters. She and Senator Clinton wants everyone covered. Senator Obama will require all children be covered.
Actually she should had been a candidate however I do not think America will get everyone covered including all the children. You hace simpleton parents who quit working so they do not have to pay child support now so when they are required to pay for the health care you will have to assign them WORTHY community services like Senator Obama is going to do with higher education students. They will not take the responsbility on this matter. Eveyone father is not John, John, Bill or Obama. There are some real idiots called fathers out here- check child support and prison records.

Dear Elizabeth Edwards,

I hope you are feeling better these days and have the opportunity to enjoy your impact on the 2008 presidential election and, likewise, it’s impact on your childrens’ future.

For the sake of your children, your own healthcare, North Carolinians and the rest of the country, please step forward and officially endorse Sen. Hillary Clinton for the next President of the United States. You have the power and the respect of so many NC residents that it is an important contribution only you can make. Please do this for all mothers and fathers in NC and in the United States.

Hillary is not being granted the same respect accorded others in this race and without the support of important and well-respected individuals like yourself, it will be a mistake we will reflect on for years to come. It takes just a few like you to reverse the tide of hangers-on, band-wagon jumpers and those who feel the need to flow with the “lemmings” in what is laughably called momentum. Please step forward and step up for the best candidate in the race. She needs you but more importantly, we need you.
