Jeremiah Wright Sounds Off At Eulogy for Chicago Judge

Rev. Jeremiah Wright told a congregation in Norfolk, Va., on Sunday that reporters sneaked into a private funeral service a day before, in which he blasted America’s founding fathers for slavery and white supremacy and received standing ovations for attacking FOX News for covering his anti-American sermons.

Barack Obama’s retiring pastor delivered a sermon at Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church, where his late uncle had been the pastor, about overcoming trouble. The public appearance was his first since news broke that the Democratic presidential candidate’s pastor frequently rails on the United States.

“Some troubles that come up in your life come up out of nowhere,” Wright said. At the end of the two-hour-plus service, about two dozen ministers gathered around Wright and his daughter to pray for them. One of the ministers asked God to give Wright courage as “the world tries to demonize him.”

Though Wright said nothing about Obama or the uproar itself, he alluded to the controversy while briefly back in the pulpit Saturday to deliver a eulogy for a late congregant of Trinity United Church of Christ — former appellate judge R. Eugene Pincham.

Wright, who is on sabbatical before retiring from Trinity United, said America’s mistreatment of blacks is the result of the founding fathers, who “planted slavery and white supremacy in the DNA of this republic.”

First reported by The Chicago Sun Times, Wright told mourners at the funeral that Thomas Jefferson, who partook in “pedophilia,” would also be considered unpatriotic these days because he wrote, “God would punish America for the sin of slavery.” He also quoted Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who said that the U.S. has a “congenital birth defect.”

Speaking of the seven lessons Pincham taught him, Wright said the judge’s faith “was not the jingoistic, chauvinistic ‘you’re either with us or against us’ demonizing kind of faith.”

“FOX News can’t understand that,” Wright said to rousing cheers and applause. “[Bill] O’Reilly will never get that. Sean Hannity’s stupid fantasy will keep him forever stuck on stupid when it comes to comprehending how you can love a brother who does not believe what you believe. [Pincham’s] faith was a faith in a God who loved the whole world not just one country or one creed.”

Reverand Wright, although a supposed learned man, does not have the self-knowledge which would allow him to “let it be” and forgive the mind sets which went with history. He insists on stating that white people still harbor such prejudices….I would think Mr. Obama and other accomplished black people would be insulted by his ideas.

Living in hurricane affected Louisiana and while working daily with the public, I have found both white and black americans believe it is time to let it go. Most of us wish he would focus on more important large problems that really do exist, this is no time for hate. Now is the time for all americans to come together as one and for this man ( and ohers like him) to be quiet and turn his attention to america’s youth and helping them.

WHERE ARE MY COMMENTS?

Just another indication of what this guy is about. One would think a eulogy would not be an appropriate place to slam the country that protects his rights to speak such garbage. A supposed man of God should not be using the pulpit to preach hate.

I am a devote Christian Minister. This so called Minister is not a true Minister if he has said the slander and garbage that is being reported. Beware of people who tout religion that do not adhere to the Bible and the word of God, for even Satan can deceive people as being an angel of light. This so called Minister has a heart full of hate and bitterness. I shall pray for this individual and God please have mercy on his soul.

GUY is a RACIST through and through

Geez, sometimes I wish this guy would just shut up.

One thing a lot of people don’t realize, and obviously Wright doesn’t, is that when the Declaration of Independence was written, the northern colonies wanted to mention the banning of the slave trade in America. They did not do this due needing to gain the support of the southern states in an effort push the British out of America.

Also, one of our great founding fathers, and president of the Constitutional Convetion, George Washington, freed his personal slaves upon is death in December of 1799 and had the slaves that were owned by his wife freed upon her death. Slavery was a dying cause in early America, and the founding fathers knew it, they just chose to slowly let it fade away. One only needs to look at the 3/5 Compromise in the Constitution to see this. Slaves were banned from importation by the early 1800’s. Early Americans began to see that slavery would die on it’s own. It was far easier and cheaper to pay day laborers to work than it was to buy slaves, feed them, cloth them, provide medical care, and pay overseers that. Don’t misinterpret this as being pro slavery…that is certainly one of the worst institutions this nation has ever had. History lesson over.

If Wright is being mentioned this often in the news for using racist comments, then he is very likely prejudiced against “the white man”. Seriously, let’s get past the color issue. I know all to well it still exists, but I wish people would stop using it as an excuse for all the ills of society. Stop making it an issue all the time.
