‘The Boss’ Says He’ll Rock Vote for Obama

WASHINGTON — Rock star Bruce Springsteen endorsed Democratic Sen. Barack Obama for president Wednesday, saying “he speaks to the America I’ve envisioned in my music for the past 35 years.”

In a letter addressed to friends and fans posted his Web site, Springsteen said he believes Obama is the best candidate to undo “the terrible damage done over the past eight years.”

“He has the depth, the reflectiveness, and the resilience to be our next president,” the letter said. “He speaks to the America I’ve envisioned in my music for the past 35 years, a generous nation with a citizenry willing to tackle nuanced and complex problems, a country that’s interested in its collective destiny and in the potential of its gathered spirit. A place where ‘…nobody crowds you, and nobody goes it alone.’ ”

The bard of New Jersey is known for his lyrics about the struggles of working-class Americans, particularly in the economically ravaged factory towns of the Northeast.

Springsteen and his E Street band were part of the Vote or Change tour, a coalition of musicians opposed to the re-election of President Bush in 2004. He wrote the anti-war ballad “Devils and Dust” about Iraq.

Springsteen did not directly mention Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Obama’s rival for the Democratic nomination, in his letter, but appeared to take issue with her recent criticisms of comments made by Obama about working-class voters in small towns in Pennsylvania and controversial statements by his pastor.

“Critics have tried to diminish Senator Obama through the exaggeration of certain of his comments and relationships,” Springsteen wrote. “While these matters are worthy of some discussion, they have been ripped out of the context and fabric of the man’s life and vision … often in order to distract us from discussing the real issues: war and peace, the fight for economic and racial justice, reaffirming our Constitution, and the protection and enhancement of our environment.”

God Bless the U.S.A. For the first time in my life, I can be proud of my country.

Clintons didn’t do it -giving technology to China. He says we were safer in his presidency? He’s loosing creditability and fast. Always taking money from Lobbyist, Clinton’s words “Lobbyist represent real people” while our health care and oils prices are out of control. Whether we let Clintons waste our money in the United States towards inefficiency, or fund this huge War thats been made up….. We’ve got to put our feet in the ground, and go back to the day where the personal wellbeing of people here and there matter 1st!!! No more Clinton Team or Bushes (that includes a McBush)!

Obama / Edwards 08

While the ‘Boss’ exercizes his right to endorse whom he pleases, I will exercize my right to boycott his concert when it comes to Milwaukee Harley Davidson’s 105th celbration. Why can’t these entertainers do what they do best, and stick to entertaining us? Why must they try to shove their political agenda down our throats.

What? Bruce Springsteen?
Who is he? Oh! Old man!
Who cares?

His endorsement won’t hurt or doesn’t good any to Republicans!!

Obama and Hilary ? Both should just leave from running for the President.

We are tired of you two putting down each other and wasting your money and lives.
Don’t you have better thing to do?
McCain IS a President sooner or later.

Vote for McCain & Mitt Romney ticket!! Huckaberries is OUT!

Bruce should stick to writing music. The United States is the most generous nation in the world. What other countries in the world go outside their own borders to fight for what is right. I will not vote for a person who will not put their hand on their heart when reciting the Pledge of Allegiance!!

“The Boss” is welcome to endorse Obama but I am not convinced that celebrity alone influences my own analysis given the plethora of misinformation I’ve read and heard from those who think they know all and have been given forum through the media because they are celebrity. Springsteen cites Mr. Obama’s goals for peace, fixing the economy, eliminating racial injustice, environmental wastes and protection of the Constitution, all noble causes shared by many. But his solution is to foreclose our rights under the Second Amendment, and to fund big government with higher taxes, which reduces my spending options. Then he follows the path all liberals seem to take; to criticize those in office during the past eights years. Does he not know how long racial injustice has existed, or the strides that have been made over the past several decades? Does he not recognize the woes of this country began to develop long before this administration was voted in? Does he not understand the power that the Legislative Branch wields has been misused and abused on both sides of the aisle since before he was born? Good grief, “Boss”, stick to that which we enjoy listening to, your music and leave the reporting and commentating to those who know.

The Boss may be right, but this problem we have today started 16 years ago when Bill took over. Bush has not been able to figure out how to get out of this mess that has become worse since 911. We are all at fault for this and we need to stop the blame game, and fix problems in this country and stop the finger pointing and start solving problems.
