Michael Moore Endorses Obama, Chastises Clinton as ‘Downright Disgusting’
LOS ANGELES — Michael Moore wants voters in Pennsylvania to cast their ballots for Barack Obama. Moore endorsed Obama in a 1,100-word posting on his Web site Monday. It includes praise for the Illinois senator and harsh words for Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Democratic Party and the Bush administration.
Lamenting the lack of a valid primary in his home state of Michigan, Moore writes that Obama’s experience and voting record aren’t as important as his “basic decency” and ability to inspire.
“What we are witnessing is not just a candidate but a profound, massive public movement for change,” Moore writes. “My endorsement is more for Obama The Movement than it is for Obama the candidate.”
The 54-year-old Oscar-winning filmmaker was hardly as kind to Clinton.
“Over the past two months, the actions and words of Hillary Clinton have gone from being merely disappointing to downright disgusting,” he writes, saying that she has tried to “smear” Obama — “Like you were nuts. Like you were a bigot stoking the fires of stupidity.”
Most of Moore’s ire is directed at the Bush administration “and the permanent, irreversible damage it has done to our people and to this world.”
“I, like the majority of Americans, have been pummeled senseless for eight long years,” he writes. “That’s why I will join millions of citizens and stagger into the voting booth come November, like a boxer in the 12th round, all bloodied and bruised with one eye swollen shut, looking for the only thing that matters — that big ‘D’ on the ballot.”
Moore says he is disappointed with the Democratic Party, too, for failing to end the war despite public outcry and for “do(ing) the bidding of the corporate elite in this country. Any endorsement of a Democrat must be done with this acknowledgment …”
Moore declined to elaborate further when contacted.
Hillary, do regard it as a compliment when Michael Moore lets go with his typical tirades on you. Obama, you will rue his support on November 4th and be reminded Michael endorsed/supported/backed Nader twice. Nader received about one percent of the votes as a result. I expect you will do a little better, but don’t set your hopes too high!
The Democratic party had been a failure. Hillary Clinton can be attacked on any number of issues, but so can Obama. If anything, Obama has again and again championed legislation to the right of Hillary. We don’t have any winners here. What disgusts me is the racism charges against the Clintons. It is phony, and I’m disgusted Obama’s campaign has pushed it. As for Moore, I generally like him. BUT HE SUPPORTED NADER AGAINST AL GORE!!!!! I will not be taking Moore’s election advise anytime soon.
I don’t feel like the churches should get involved with politics and I think that they are getting to involved. I think the sign needs to come down. There has been no evidence of Obama and Usama linking up together and I am shocked at that church for displaying that sign. How dare the church do that. The church is God’s house and it is not to be used for that.
Michael Moore is a hyprocrite and here is why. His own movie about health care suggests that every American get universal health care. This is a subject very dear to his heart, so he says. Hillary Clinton has a specific plan to cover everybody and Obama is leaving out adults in his health care plan, although Obama does offer a pay plan for adults. Michael Moore insists all Americans get health care and compares the US to other countries like France, Canada and even Cuba. So, for Michael Moore to endorse Obama instead of Hillary is contradictory to what he believes on health care. Having said that, none of the democrats in congress, including Obama or Clinton, could end the war without an overwhelming vote and Obama voted to fund the troops just like Hillary did. Bringing the troops home will not happen until Clinton or Obama is in the White House and no sooner. Michael Moore knows that. So, Michael Moore’s reason to endorse Obama is due to Clinton’s mud slinging? Obama has done his share of mud slinging so that can’t be the reason. It just Michael Moore’s excuse. The reason is Obama leans further left than Clinton and Michael Moore leans far over to the left, that’s all. It’s very simple. It’s interesting that Michael Moore doesn’t have the guts to just plainly state that his far left views matches Obama’s far left views. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. Instead, Michael Moore wanted “little boy” attention by saying it is Hillary Clinton’s negativity that cuases him to endorse Obama.

well you can’t get any more anti american than michael moore. go live in cuba with your pal chavez! hillary 08! she is smart, strong, and she offers solutions. hopefully obama will drop out after he loses PA. he can’t carry big states even though he outspends her 5-1. hopefully the dnc will realize this, however they have a history of picking losers like kerry, and gore. looks like 4 more years of republican rule if obama get the nomination. the republicans and swiftboaters have alot to work with against obama.
