POLITICAL WIRE: Obama’s $10k Waffle Breakfast Yanked from eBay

Barack Obama’s half-eaten waffle breakfast, which appeared Monday on eBay with a bid price of $10,100, has been pulled from the site.
The uneaten portions from Obama’s waffle and sausage breakfast were taken from the Scranton, Pa. diner, “the Glider,” Monday morning by a Hillary Clinton supporter who later posted them for sale on the popular auctioning site. She had planned to give all proceeds to Clinton’s campaign.
But food items such as these are prohibited on eBay. “The sale of food is regulated by the federal government and most state governments,” a statement on the site reads. “Sellers who list food and food-related products should familiarize themselves with these laws before listing such items on eBay.”
Obama’s waffle and sausage link—along with the plate and silverware the presidential hopeful used—were advertised for several hours on the site, attracting a sizeable number of prospective buyers.
POLITICAL WIRE: Report Finds McCain Receiving ‘Disability Pension’ from Navy

John McCain is receiving what his campaign has called a “disability pension” from the Navy, according to a report published Tuesday on the Los Angeles Times’ website.
The report claims that McCain—who has long insisted that he is in good health despite questions raised over his medical history—released his tax return for 2007 on Friday and disclosed that he collected a pension of $58,358 not listed as income on his return.
McCain’s campaign called the retirement benefit a “disability pension” and claimed the Arizona senator “was retired as disabled because of his limited body movement due to injuries as a POW,” according to the article.
“Tortured for his country—that is how he acquired his disability,” McCain’s campaign strategist Mark Salter reportedly said Monday.

POLITICAL WIRE: DOJ to Monitor Primary Voting in Philadelphia

The Department of Justice announced it will be monitoring polling sites in Philadelphia on Tuesday to assess how well Hispanic voters are accommodated and ensure the city is in compliance with federal voting rights laws. The department filed a lengthy complaint against the city in 2007, claimed it was in violation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA), and the National Voter Registration Act of 1993.
The DOJ called for the city to require measures to help Hispanic voters–especially those with poor English skills—at polling locations, and a settlement was later reached to guarantee assistance to those voters . The DOJ will determine if the city has lived up to its agreement.

POLITICAL WIRE: Michael Moore Calls Clinton Tactics ‘Nuts’ and ‘Disgusting’

Political activist and filmmaker Michael Moore called Hillary Clinton’s campaign tactics “nuts” and “disgusting,” and urged Pennsylvanians to cast their votes for Barack Obama in a letter posted Monday on Moore’s website.
Moore wrote that he had no intention of formally backing either Democratic candidate, but has been appalled by Clinton’s “sleazy attempt to smear Obama” as of late. He criticized the New York senator’s remarks during Wednesday’s ABC News democratic presidential debate in which she mentioned Louis Farrakhan—the acting head of the Nation of Islam whose relationship with Obama has been the subject of controversy. Moore accused Clinton of attempting to “scare white people, pure and simple.”
“Yes, Senator Clinton, that’s how you sounded. Like you were nuts. Like you were a bigot stoking the fires of stupidity,” Moore wrote. “How sad that I would ever have to write those words about you. You have devoted your life to good causes and good deeds. And now to throw it all away for an office you can’t win unless you smear the black man so much that the superdelegates cry ‘Uncle (Tom)’ and give it all to you.”

POLITICAL WIRE: Polls Show Clinton Poised for Win in Pa. Primary

Hillary Clinton might well be headed for victory in Tuesday’s Pennsylvania primary, according to two polls released on Monday.
Clinton leads Barack Obama by 10 points (52-42) among likely Pennsylvania Democratic voters in a poll conducted by Suffolk University. Four percent of Democratic voters polled were undecided, and 2 percent declined to respond.
The poll also found that 20 percent of the same Democratic voters said they would vote for John McCain in November if their Democratic choice fails to win the party’s nomination.

Another poll released by Quinnipiac University on Monday found Clinton holding a 7 point lead over Obama (51-44) among likely Democratic primary voters.

Of course the only people in this socialist or communist country who deserve any type of government subsidy would be the military folks who served in a combat zone! What idiot would think otherwise. I believe this to be the only right thing the central government can do and it only does this right most of the time not all of the time! Now, if we could get all other government programs eliminated we could afford one good program for the disabled vets!
Actually, we Republicans would rather see Clinton in the General Election. She has so much baggage from the Clinton years and Arkansas that she would be an easy target just from her lack of integrity alone. I am a 50 year old woman and I would never vote for Hillary. She lacks honesty and a willingness to listen to other’s opinions. Remember, Universal Health Care, anyone?? Just because she’s tough doesn’t mean she is going to make the right decision.

So Obama wants change huh? So does Hillary. She wants your change. When she gets all of that, then she’ll take your dollars. When she gets of the that then she’ll take your soul.
Having been blessed with a wonderful uncle who survived 3 1/2 years as a Japanese POW during WW!!, I only wish Uncle Mack had drawn a good disability. When they returned from Japan, after the bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, my uncle and his compatriots were told they were lying about the abuse they had suffered because there was no way they could have survived such horrors. Some of our POWs were sent to the shrinks because their stories were deemed unbelievable…..until the stories continued to come in and support each other. By that time, many of the men, tho suffering from injuries, had gone home and refused to be interviewed, or examined, because they didn’t want to be sent to a psychiatric hospital.
Uncle Mack, 5′10″, normally weighed about 160, and was a very powerful man. He weighed 87 lbs, and suffered with back problems and PTSD for the rest of his life. Of course, we didn’t know about PTSD, back then, but we do now. If only we had known a bit of what we do know about it today, we may have been able to prevent his becoming an alcoholic.
When I read about the Death March, Camp Donaldson and Cabanatuan, the Hell Ships, the slave labor in Japanese factories, I’m just thankful Uncle Mack had the strength to survive.
Never begrudge a POW anything he receives. If he has survived, he deserves it…. and more!!!
The disability pension that Senator McCain receives was not named that by his campaign headquarters. It is a federally designated form of renumeration for those injured while on active duty in the United States military. It is that portion of his retired pay not subject to witholding tax. For anyone to imply that he is unfit to serve as President one would only have to look at his vigorous record of service as a United States Senator. He is running for President not squadron fighter pilot.
McCain should recieve compensation from the Government for almost six years as a Pow.
And any one that would beleive any thing Micheal Moore has to say is just as stupid as he is.
Why shouldn’t McCain receive a disability pension? Those in Washington are receiving MANY perks and no one seems to question this? McCain made a great sacrifice so that the perks for others go on and on.
