POLITICAL WIRE: Obama’s $10k Waffle Breakfast Yanked from eBay

Border

(1:05 p.m. ET)

Barack Obama’s half-eaten waffle breakfast, which appeared Monday on eBay with a bid price of $10,100, has been pulled from the site.

The uneaten portions from Obama’s waffle and sausage breakfast were taken from the Scranton, Pa. diner, “the Glider,” Monday morning by a Hillary Clinton supporter who later posted them for sale on the popular auctioning site. She had planned to give all proceeds to Clinton’s campaign.

But food items such as these are prohibited on eBay. “The sale of food is regulated by the federal government and most state governments,” a statement on the site reads. “Sellers who list food and food-related products should familiarize themselves with these laws before listing such items on eBay.”

Obama’s waffle and sausage link—along with the plate and silverware the presidential hopeful used—were advertised for several hours on the site, attracting a sizeable number of prospective buyers.

POLITICAL WIRE: Report Finds McCain Receiving ‘Disability Pension’ from Navy
(11:26 a.m. ET)

John McCain is receiving what his campaign has called a “disability pension” from the Navy, according to a report published Tuesday on the Los Angeles Times’ website.

The report claims that McCain—who has long insisted that he is in good health despite questions raised over his medical history—released his tax return for 2007 on Friday and disclosed that he collected a pension of $58,358 not listed as income on his return.

McCain’s campaign called the retirement benefit a “disability pension” and claimed the Arizona senator “was retired as disabled because of his limited body movement due to injuries as a POW,” according to the article.

“Tortured for his country—that is how he acquired his disability,” McCain’s campaign strategist Mark Salter reportedly said Monday.

POLITICAL WIRE: DOJ to Monitor Primary Voting in Philadelphia

(2:44 p.m. ET)

The Department of Justice announced it will be monitoring polling sites in Philadelphia on Tuesday to assess how well Hispanic voters are accommodated and ensure the city is in compliance with federal voting rights laws. The department filed a lengthy complaint against the city in 2007, claimed it was in violation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA), and the National Voter Registration Act of 1993.

The DOJ called for the city to require measures to help Hispanic voters–especially those with poor English skills—at polling locations, and a settlement was later reached to guarantee assistance to those voters . The DOJ will determine if the city has lived up to its agreement.

POLITICAL WIRE: Michael Moore Calls Clinton Tactics ‘Nuts’ and ‘Disgusting’

(10:48 a.m. ET)

Political activist and filmmaker Michael Moore called Hillary Clinton’s campaign tactics “nuts” and “disgusting,” and urged Pennsylvanians to cast their votes for Barack Obama in a letter posted Monday on Moore’s website.

Moore wrote that he had no intention of formally backing either Democratic candidate, but has been appalled by Clinton’s “sleazy attempt to smear Obama” as of late. He criticized the New York senator’s remarks during Wednesday’s ABC News democratic presidential debate in which she mentioned Louis Farrakhan—the acting head of the Nation of Islam whose relationship with Obama has been the subject of controversy. Moore accused Clinton of attempting to “scare white people, pure and simple.”

“Yes, Senator Clinton, that’s how you sounded. Like you were nuts. Like you were a bigot stoking the fires of stupidity,” Moore wrote. “How sad that I would ever have to write those words about you. You have devoted your life to good causes and good deeds. And now to throw it all away for an office you can’t win unless you smear the black man so much that the superdelegates cry ‘Uncle (Tom)’ and give it all to you.”

POLITICAL WIRE: Polls Show Clinton Poised for Win in Pa. Primary

(9:48 a.m. ET)

Hillary Clinton might well be headed for victory in Tuesday’s Pennsylvania primary, according to two polls released on Monday.

Clinton leads Barack Obama by 10 points (52-42) among likely Pennsylvania Democratic voters in a poll conducted by Suffolk University. Four percent of Democratic voters polled were undecided, and 2 percent declined to respond.

The poll also found that 20 percent of the same Democratic voters said they would vote for John McCain in November if their Democratic choice fails to win the party’s nomination.

Another poll released by Quinnipiac University on Monday found Clinton holding a 7 point lead over Obama (51-44) among likely Democratic primary voters.

We have a chance to change the face and ethics of our political system. I only hope that before people vote they understand that freedom of speech is very important to the health of a democracy, and it is not anti American to express our dissatisfaction and/or outrage with our leaders, our government, our parents, religious institutions, or our voters when they have been wrong. We have been so wrong and we have elected too many elite and many at times unethical politicians that have damaged our country again and again. This is a crucial time in our world, our international world in which we are so dependent each other. We must think about all of the reasons, some of them hidden when we vote this time. We must not just vote our party line, or our color of skin or sex. We must vote intelligently, and I cannot say this without offending some of you, but it is true, we have behaved ignorantly in the past and that is why the rest of world lost much of their respect for us as a nation.

It will be proven on Super Tuesday that no matter how much money Obama’s campaign throws into this Pennsylvania primary, the voters are too smart to fall for this. Clinton will be declared the winner and ultimately will be the dominee.

Where does FoxNews find these polls? Who ever heard of Suffolk University polls? Why don’t you report real poll such as Zogby or Gallup instead of Republican-controlled hate media polls?

Comment by Bess Cannon

Fox News…WHY are you snapping my comment off before I even finish it?
Doesn’t it suit your preferences?

And we know most of the polls favor the candiate they are paid by. Get real carrie, that poll is just as true as any of the other polls. I learned a long time ago, polls are just that, and can easily be manipulated.

Another Obama blogger misquoting polls becuase they think that it will make a difference. Clinton will win and win big. RCP avaerage 49 Clinton. 43.6 Obama. As we know Clinton has always done better than the polls suggested when she wins. As for Michael Moore, he is an idiot that does not deserve any time or attention at all.

Comment by Joey

If you think Fox favors Clinton then I have a bridge to sell you. I am a long time democrat and I promise you this, if Obama wins, I and most Hillary supporters will do everything we can to make sure that McCain wins. Obama supporters cry about negativity but you all are just plain hypocrites. You have divided this party and there is no way Obama will win in November.

What Michael Moore thinks is MUTE.

He told Larry King he was voting for Obama because Hillary voted for the war and Obama didn’t, I bet if Obama had been there he would have voted for it. He supported it when he got to the Senate..

Who cares what Michael Moore thinks his opinion means nothing to me. I don’t think Hillary needs HIS VOTE. She has Operation Chaos:-)))))

Hillary Clinton will be officially switching her affiliation to the Republican Party where she will help John McCain with his smear tactics against Obama.
Reliable sources have announced that George Stephanaupolous will be joining Hillary as a paid consultant. George will still maintain his position with ABC so as to continue to perpetuate a conflict of interest.
