Obama Countdown Clock Set to Ring With Appearance This Week on ‘FOX News Sunday’

Barack Obama has abandoned his more than two-year silent treatment toward “FOX News Sunday,” accepting an invitation to appear this week on the national morning talk show.

The Democratic presidential candidate’s appearance will end a 772-day record of refusing to sit down for an interview.

FOX News Sunday host Chris Wallace said the decision to launch a “count-up” clock may have helped encourage Obama’s decision to be a guest.

“We started the clock a month ago at 730 days. This Sunday it will be up to 772 days and the conversation about Obama coming on got a lot more serious after we started the count down, or the count up,” Wallace said.

He added that an Obama campaign aide had called the clock “obnoxious” when it first aired on March 16, 2008.

“It may have been obnoxious but it was also effective,” Wallace said.

Last Sunday, the Obama clock was past 765 days, 13 hours, 54 min and 47 seconds by the end of the show. Since then, Obama lost the Pennsylvania primary to Hillary Clinton by 10 points, the first primary to be held since the clock aired. The two candidates face off next in North Carolina and Indiana on May 6.

Wallace said if Obama had won Pennsylvania, he may not have accepted the invitation.

“If he had won he’d probably on a Caribbean island this weekend. The fact that he’s going to be on Sunday television and on FOX News may be an indication he figures he has to reach out to working-class Democrats, moderates and conservative Democrats and FOX News is a good place to do it,” he said.

Clinton last appeared on “FOX News Sunday” on Feb. 3. Obama will pre-tape his appearance on Saturday from Marion, Ind., to appear on local FOX affiliate stations on Sunday morning.  “FOX News Sunday” airs on FOX News Channel at 2 p.m. ET Sundays.

Obama is finished. If I had known then compared to what I know now, I would never have voted for him. Bring back the Clinton’s - at least I know their baggage.

If the Democratic Party wants to keep their life long loyalist, they need to hold a re-election in MI and FL and see who the people really want.

If you think the economy is bad now, wait until a liberal like Hillary or Obama get into the White House and, together with their liberal congress, raise taxes. Average people are already struggling with increasing costs of energy, food and health care. What do you suppose the economy will do under the strain of additional federal taxes? What do suppose will happen to the economy when the liberals enact a universal health care system? Who do you suppose is going to pay the bills? The working people of this country, that’s who. Yeah, Obama is going to bring ‘change’ alright. That’s all we’ll have left in our pockets… a little change.

It’s a little late in the game for Obama to somehow persuade the voters he cared so little about and thought he didn’t need to win the nomination. Kind of like closing the barn door after the horses are out! This “typical white person” will never vote for Barack Obama no matter what he says.

As a Republican who switched to Dem to vote for Obama in PA, I really wish he’d appear on “The Factor.” I watched last night when Jesse Jackson, Jr., appeared and it was a very spirited dialouge. In fact I was quite impressed with Jesse, Jr. And, believe it or not, O’Reilly was very cordial and didn’t bite his head off

Please ask Obama
Why he would not cover his heart with his hand and pledge allegiance to the American Flag?
If he ever heard a racist overture from his pastors pulpit prior to the recent sound bites?
Does he proclaim Jesus Christ as his lord and savior?
Has he heard racists comments from his wife, Before or after her college paper?
EXACTLY how is he going to balance the budget with all his programs and health care?

The same people that speak of Barack Obama’s character are the same people that said that Bush would make the better president than Gore or Kerry! So obviously your judgement and your character is something that should be in Question! The accomplishments he made in public office and have been well documented, so do you really think he would have gotten this far in the election if he accomplished nothing?

I’m still waiting for him to unite people………so far all I’ve seen is him divide.

Now that Sen. Obama has agreed to do the interview I have a question to ask Fox News. Were their certain conditions to the interview? Will you hold back like the other stations like CNN and MSNBC do? We are not asking you to attack Sen. Obama. We would just like him to answer a couple of questions.
1. Why did you stay in a church with a Pastor that spews hate and makes racist remarks?
2. Why did you say you didn’t know he did at first but changed your comment after?
3. Why did you say on “The View”, had Pastor Wright not resigned you would have left?
Please hold him accountable to answer the questions until he REALLY answers them without the spin. The American people are counting on Fox News to be fair and balanced.
As Chris Wallace said, Sen. Obama probably wouldn’t have agreed to this interview if he won Pennsylvania. He must need something…

Chris Wallace asks the tough questions, and that’s what we want him to do. Running for President of the United States is an honor and character matters. Please ask ALL the questions that matter to help “vet” this candidate. It bothers me that he is only now willing to speak to the Media, especially since the Media has given him such a biased pass for months. He has made
“race” an issue and now he finds out in PA that he is losing white voters–what does he expect?
I see his audacity of hope sinking to the Titanic of Failure. I imagine he will step down before
the Convention in Denver. For the good of the Party and the Nation, I hope he does!
