Clyburn Fears Clinton Conduct Could Doom Dems’ White House Chances
Rep. James Clyburn says Bill Clinton's conduct in the Democratic primary could hurt the party come November. (AP Photo)
The highest ranking black member in Congress issued grave warnings to the Democratic candidates Friday, saying the racially charged contest could turn away black voters and doom the party in November.
South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn, in an interview with FOX News, singled out Bill Clinton for comments he said were not “seemly” and could damage his wife’s presidential campaign if she becomes the nominee. Clyburn on Thursday had told The New York Times that the former president’s “bizarre” conduct had “incensed” the black community.
“I am concerned … that the conduct of this campaign could very well make the nomination not worth having,” Clyburn told FOX News. “Our party is much bigger than Bill Clinton. It is much bigger than Sens. Clinton or Obama. It is a party that is here to serve the American people. … And I don’t want to see us conduct a campaign in such a way that it does irreparable harm to our being able to do that.”
Clyburn voiced concern that if Hillary Clinton beats Barack Obama, she might do so at the expense of the party’s usually loyal black base.
“When this campaign is over, if Hillary Clinton is the nominee, she cannot get elected president if 25-30 percent of black people vote for (John) McCain. She is going to have … to have that same 92 percent of black people that Obama (has) now,” he said. “And if (Obama) is the nominee he is going to need her help and her husband’s help getting white voters that he is not now getting.
“And I don’t see how you can go back to these people and get them to vote for the nominee if you have done all these things and said all of these things about him during the campaign … because you are not going to be able to reverse field in the middle of general election,” he said.
Bill Clinton took heat in late January for equating Obama’s victory in the South Carolina primary to Jesse Jackson’s win in the state 20 years ago. Obama supporters said the remarks were demeaning since they compared him with a black candidate whose appeal was more narrow.
But the comments came up again Monday, when Clinton told a Philadelphia radio station that he believed Obama “played the race card on me” during the incident.
Clyburn said he didn’t understand that.
“Many of the surrogates in the Clinton campaign of recent days have been saying things that have been angering African American voters over again,” he said. “I mean, who played the race card on President Clinton? … What does he mean by that unless he is trying to send some kind of signal on race?”
Clyburn, an influential superdelegate, says he hasn’t taken sides in the Obama-Clinton race, but analysts say he, like many other prominent black politicians, has been swept up in the near-lockstep support that Obama’s historic bid for the presidency enjoys among black voters.
“Jim Clyburn … is squarely in the corner of Sen. Barack Obama,” FOX News contributor Juan Williams said. “Jim Clyburn and a lot of the older black politicians started out with Hillary Clinton because of their long standing ties to the Clinton camp, but as they saw black voters overwhelming going to Barack Obama they have run to the front of the parade.”
Clyburn stressed Friday that he still hasn’t declared whom he will support at the Democratic convention in August.
Obama himself disputed the notion that the contentious tone of the race is doing irreparable harm to the party.
“I never believe in irreparable breaches,” he said Friday. “I’m a big believer in reconciliation and redemption.”
And Hillary Clinton has repeatedly said it’s Obama who’s running the negative campaign.
Asked about a mailing that criticizes her trade stances during a round of local interviews Friday, she sharply rebuked him.
“He’s done this repeatedly and I don’t why he keeps doing it. It’s misleading, it’s factually wrong,” she told a Louisville, Ky., station. “He’s running a very negative campaign below the radar screen with all of his mailings and phone calls.”
FOX News’ Major Garrett contributed to this report.
One could just as easily say that Obama’s conduct is doing the same. Only one candidate has been on camera flipping their middle finger while referring to the other candidate, then snickering about it.
Clyburn is just a distraction….
If you really there to help the American people then vote and endorse Hillary. It is no brainer than Hilalry is the only qualified candidate this year and deserve to be the next President. That shoudl be the headline and not criticing Bill but not Wright, Rezco and Ayers and Richardson, who is traitor.
I agree that Clinton conduct during this campaign has hurt the Democratic Party and has set them back another four years.
Her plans mentioned in the news today of possibly running in 2012 should be shot down now by the Democratic Party. If she wants to run in 2012 let her run as an Independent.
Clinton has caused sucha split in the Democratic Party that will take years to recover.
The only people dividing the black leader who keep dragging race up everytime Barack loses a contest and threatening to riot if he does not get the nomination. It justs makes them look babaric and turns white people off who are going to switch to Mccain in November.
For the life of me, I do not understand why Clinton cannot do the math. Even a lay person like myself can see the damage this prolonged engagement is doing to the party. John McCain “must be in hog heaven during slop day.”

Obama is half white and half black. Nobody is playing the “race card” on Hillary. Just more bad politics as usual. Why don’t those Washington politicians start trying to bring gasoline and food prices down. People have had enough. I’ve had enough. Let’s hear about the issues instead of bickering and accusations and finger pointing. What are you going to do about these price gouging oil companies?
Obama, maybe you like “reconciliation and redemption.”, but it pales in comparison to Hillary’s belief in retaliation and retribution. Don’t expect to sit down and enjoy a meal with an anaconda unless you have a long spoon. How do you expect to get the nomination when you make Ted Kennedy look like a right-wing loon?
after listening to all the retoric, im better than you, no im better than you, i did more than you oh i did, lets get real, they both have had their 15 minutes of fame and its turning to shame and degrading our beautiful country, i didnt believe her so called tears , i guess i knew then shes a phoney, is she going to do that if the country gets in trouble, oh by the way who said the democrats were going to win. you people sound like those two hillary and o bama are the only two people in the country, yes i am a registered democrat but im so fed up with them no way am i voting for either one of them have a blessed day
The only thing that will doom the Democrat chances at the white house if Obama.
he is saying if hillar wins that all the black wont vote for her? thats ridiculous if they dont want to vote for her fine but she is got all the latino vote
With all due respect to Rep Clyburn, butt out. It is not Clinton or McCain who has made this primary about race, it is Barack Obama who claimed from the beginning that race was not a part of his campaign but has succeeded in making it about nothing else. I was a life long Dem and resigned from the party after it became apparent that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Mainstream Media (MSM) was going to use anything they could to shove Barack Obama down our collective throats.
This GUY has no experience, no qualifications, his own admitted “bad judgement”, more neferious and unsavory associations than the Old Chicago Richard Daley “The First” regime, and supports a church that preaches nothing but hate in the most vitrious language there is and has for his pastor a man who loaths this country and is a racist of the highest order, although his racism will not stop him from living in a multi-million dollar mansion in a predominantly white, upperclass neighborhood. Tack on a “tacky wife” who apparently, has never been proud of a country that has allowed her and her husband to attend Ivy League schools, to live in a million dollar mansion complete with a nanny, to send her children to “Private” schools and to enjoy freedoms not so prevalent in many countries of this world.
If Barack Obama wins the nomination, I will not only vote for John McCain, I will spend every waking hour campaigning, fundraising and are-twisting my Dem friends to vote for him as well. barack Obama CAN NOT win the general election and the Republicans are going to make mincemeat out of him. For all of you like Rep CLyburn, YOU are the ones that made this about race and it will be your fault when it all goes badly.
MORE Race based politics from the Obama campaign
He is right…all of Hillary’s supporter’s will vote for McCain if Obama gets the nomination. Can’t we make any clearer - we don’t want obama and were willing to fight all the way! If the DEMS want to win the White House - they better think carefully as who they choose as the nominee. Obama will never make it to the White House.
I can tell you from PA that was true, Obama made negative polling calls while Clinton did not.
and another thing, what is it that Bill Clinton said that was so horrible that it will drive AA away? Me thinks it is Clyburn that is trying to stir up the troops.
What’s new??? The clintons have been “dooming’ the American People for nearly 20 years. Kind of seems odd that once the clintons took office our “morality” went down the drain. They need to get off the boat and soon before they sink everyone just to push their own agenda.
I can’t take the media and the Obama backers any more. They are trying to make the super deligates think that if they don’t vote for Obama, then it’s racist. How dare they. It’s not all just about how many states you win - especially since Obama can only win states where the population is 60% black. The fact that 90% of the black vote goes to this guy tells me they are the racists. God everyone wake up. Everyone is trying to railroad Hillary and make her leave this race before everyone gets to vote - the are strong arming her and using race baiting. Let’s show em they can’t operate that way and all vote for our “white sister” - Deal? Deal!
This is ridiculous. Now a lots of blacks will vote in NC, then the blacks come out to accuse Clinton. Actually everyone knows they want the blacks vote for blacks. They use the race card again.
Obama/Sharpton 08
The question to be asked, are the blacks voting for Obama because he is the best qualified, or because he is black. Bill Clinton told it like it is South Carolina, so what was the big stink.
I get so tired of hearing everyone blame the Clintons’ for everything that goes wrong. Obama is responsible for his own problems and it is about time he takes responsibility. He selected his friends and preacher; he lied to cover up his past and comments he made; he is arrogant and can’t relate to the American people (typical white/bitter Americans); and has used the race issue to gain support from the black community.
Obama DOES NOT have the qualifications or maturity to be President. How is he going to handle the Iranians if they don’t agree with him—throw tantrums and blame the Clintons? Or yet will he push the wrong button like he did in the Illinois Senate?
Hillary is the only ELECTABLE one in the fall. If Obama gets the nomination, the Democrats will have a major defection!!! Obama will NOT WIN. OBAMA=MCGOVERN=BUSH
Clyburn is reading from the same playbook he had in South Carolina. He should just claim he’s an Obama supporter and be done with it. He’s trying to get the black vote out in North Carolina for Obama by claiming Clinton is attacking Black folks.
This is so surprising! A black leader came out criticizing the Clintons. Gee, that has shocked me to the core, I would never have expected THAT.
Southerner at 7:02 pm ….. You are Exactly correct! Surprising how quickly the media dropped That story. I’m amazed Obama can campaign with any dignity at all.
Thanks Mr. Clyburn for speaking the truth. Hillary will do anything to get in the White House, so what will she do if she got into the White House?, Hil Lie ry. She will lie at the drop of a hat, pen and anything else. I for one do not want to go back to the days of Bill Clinton, as I remember, he was and still is a Lair!
I have lost all respect for Hillary Clinton. She has bashed her opponent unnecessarily. Begining with the debate in which she yelled at Obama, about his “slum landlord, friend, Rezko” to her statement that she was experienced, McCain was experienced, but she didn’t know what Obama was. Now that one was really low! She’s made it a point to say that Obama is unelectable. The Clintons have thrown “Race” at Obama from every angle.
You Clyburn and the superdelegates will doom the democrats if you will not pick Hillary as the nominee. Big states and electoral college votes are very crucial in November and Hillary won the big states and have most of the electoral college votes to date than Obama. The only way to win in November is to do theright thing anf make the right choice, which is Hillary.
The longer this bickering goes on the more it will be obvious that neither Obama nor the Clintons have any concern for the Democrat party or the voters. It is all about the Power.
I am growing tired of “leading” black citizens telling me that because an apparent majority of voters back Obama, it is “divisive” to back anyone else. Give me a break. Obama is demonstrably capable of being as negative as any other candidate, imbuing his own “divisiveness” on the process. I don’t care what sex or color the next president is and I suspect the majority of the electorate feel the same way. But as long as the media and “leaders” like Clyburn keep bringing race and sex into the process and then blaming one candidate or another for doing so, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Once again, we have a presidential race being fought on personal grounds and not issues. Having said that, Americans have only themselves to blame for tolerating this juvenile conduct, over and over again, every four years.
barack obama is the one who is dividing the country. and all the black women who are flocking to his feet should be ashamed. he reminds me of a slick used car salesman and his remarks that he is out to close the deal shows that he thinks of himself that way. he has no priciples, just what ever will close the deal he will preach to us. no thanks, clinton or i will go to mccain.
Clayburn should back off and let the process go forward, or Obama should drop out!
There is 1% difference in the “actual” vote totals.
Hillary can go on as long as she sees fit.
It is not Clayburn’s decision to make. That decision belongs to Hillary Clinton.
Talk about racism, what do you call this against the whites just like Obamas pastor,Bill Clinton is being put down and they are using him as an excuse not to vote for Hillary Clinton.Of course Clyburn is going to demean Bill Clinton, He’s for Obama just like the majority of the Black people are.
Well I guess all the work the Clintons have done for civil rights etc are to be ignored. However, Wright and Ayers can say all their stuff and it is okay…that will not hurt? Let’s stop with the race card and get to the issues. This has nothing to do with what Clinton said it has all to do with Obama being the nominee. I am a firm Hillary supporter and will be to the end. When I hear these attacks on the Clintons after all of their work with the black community I know there is something else going on.
Big surprise here, another black politician is running his mouth about Hilary Clinton. I swear, the black voters in this election are better flip-floppers than John Kerry was in 2004. It’s amazing to me how an entire demographic can be so powerfully swayed towards blind, ignorant support merely by the color of a man’s skin.
Blacks see Obama as golden goose. Hamas sees Obama as a good idea. Senators like Clyburn pretend to be neutral, but they might as well be waving a campaign banner.
The last thing America needs right now is a President with terrorist-friendly foreign policy, special interest agendas and a race card in his hand. Obama might as well be the Antichrist.
Who cares what this guy thinks at all? He is sooo unhappy that no one wants Obama and in a fair contest Hillary will be elected. Call the waaambulance!
How is it possible that “our first black President” could be hurting blacks?
It’s Great the Dems are self destructing themselves.Bill is doing the best he can to Help John McCain get elected. If “God Forbid” Billary did get elected, Bill would continue to disrupt the White House as he wants to run the country again.
Hillary and Bill should chill, switch to decaf and withdraw from the race.
I loved watching tv the other night listening to the talking heads talk about how a certain % of white voters were voting for Clinton attempting to imply white voters were simply voting for a white person. Isnt the % of black voters voting for Obama much higher (like in the 90s)? Why dont we hear anything implying that black voters were simply voting for a black person? If there was an equally qualified black running against McCain, he would probably get my vote. If you vote for a black just cause hes black, a white just because hes white, or a woman just because shes a woman, your a sheep. Only thing bad about a sheep is that you have to turn them around to kiss um.
Obama needs to drop out. What a joke. He has bullied his way so far but he will never be president. Surprise! Surprise! No one will vote for him in the general election!
It amazes me how quickly democrats have deserted the Clintons. The Clintons did a lot for the country and for the democratic party. They deserve more respect than they are getting.
Dems say Clinton dooming us? Heck that was what most of America was saying during the 8 long years of her husband’s presidency!
The fact is…any one of these three we have to choose from are about as exciting as watching cars rust.
It’s going to be a long four years.
Do you all really think that with either Obama or Clinton that anything will get done? First Congress has to stay Dem which is no guarantee just look at there approval rate with them in control 20-22% consistant for about a year now. They have done virtually nothing of any importanance in the House. So How are they going to make things better when they had a chance to lead when they were in the Senate and didn’t. This isn’t about spin control but the facts. Remember if the Dems with the White House all that will happen is rising inflation since they will increase taxes/tariffs and add more Government. That has a trickle down effect which will let you buy LESS than what you get now. The proof is in the history check it out yourself if you don’t believe me. Unless you are afraid of truth…
Democrats are already doomed, this was supposed to be their year but the infighting has torn them apart that they can’t stand each other.
Clyburn is for Obama .. ….don’t mind him. When I hear him talk or Donna Brazile that they are uncimmitted yet I just laugh!! you can’t fool the America people for too long.
If you haven’t figured it out Obama’s people are trying as hard as they can to make Hillary not electable by black people’s vote simple because Obama isn’t very electable.
It is the Obama camp trying to play the race card as usual.
Clinton does not have experiece…. ONLY JOHN MCCAIN DOES THIS ELECTION!!
Let’s be clear. If you’re a Democrat, experience isn’t on this year’s menu. The most experienced among the major candidates seeking the Democratic nomination were Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware and Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut. They have now dropped out. The remaining major candidates—Clinton, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and former Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C.—all lack lengthy records in government.
Oh, please. Thirty-five years takes you back to 1973, half of which Hillary spent in law school, for crying out loud. I don’t mean to denigrate her professional experience. Clinton worked many years in corporate and public-interest law, performed advocacy work for the Children’s Defense Fund and other groups, and was a university lecturer. She also devoted herself to raising a seemingly bright and loving daughter, which is no small feat, particularly given the public spotlight and some conspicuously bad behavior on the father’s part.
Dec. 26 New York Times story revealed that during her husband’s two terms in office, Hillary Clinton did not hold a security clearance, did not attend meetings of the National Security Council, and was not given a copy of the president’s daily intelligence briefing. During trips to Bosnia and Kosovo, she “acted as a spokeswoman for American interests rather than as a negotiator.” On military affairs, most of her experience derives not from her White House years but from serving on the Senate armed services committee. In this capacity, William Kristol notes gleefully in the Jan. 14 New York Times, Clinton told Gen. David Petraeus this past September that his reports of military progress in Iraq—since shown to be undeniable—required “the willing suspension of disbelief.” (What Kristol and Clinton both fail to say is that the surge’s laudable military success has created a short-term opportunity that the Iraqi government and Bush himself are doing tragically little to seize. For example, a much-touted move by the Iraqi parliament to open government jobs to former members of the Baath party is, according to a Jan. 14 New York Times story, “riddled with loopholes and caveats to the point that some Sunni and Shiite officials say it could actually exclude more former Baathists than it lets back in.”)
Clinton’s claim to superior experience isn’t merely dishonest. It’s also potentially dangerous should she become the nominee. If Clinton continues to build her campaign on the dubious foundation of government experience, it shouldn’t be very difficult for her GOP opponent to pull that edifice down. That’s especially true if a certain white-haired senator now serving his 25th year in Congress (four in the House and 21 in the Senate) wins the nomination. McCain could easily make Hillary look like an absolute fraud who is no more truthful about her depth of government experience than she is about why her mother named her “Hillary.” Dennis Kucinich has more government experience than Clinton. (He also has a better health-care plan, but we’ll save that for another day.) If Clinton doesn’t find a new theme soon, she won’t just be cutting Obama’s throat. She’ll also be cutting her own.
I love watching the dems self-destruct…why? I have heard over and over in the press for the last 15 years how the left is intelligent and isn’t bigoted and doesn’t play the same ‘republican” games in politics. Well we now see the dems for what they are dont we? The left wing received an education this year. They got a real look at their “party” and what did they see? Just another group of lying politicians out for themselves.
When is America gonna grow up and realize that the 2-party scam is the problem?
Year after year we “vote” for reps and dems that the “parties” choose for us to vote for. Wake up folks! This ain’t freedom.
I believe that Obama is the racist. He has divided our country. Before all this media mess, I only thought of him as a democratic candidate - not any color. The irony is that the media feeds and has probably started the race card, and when our country should be voting democart I am going to vote Republican.
anyone from the upcoming election states should go to http://www.larrysinclair0926.wordpress.com and print out a load of these flyers(on the right hand side of the page under FLYERS on that website) and hand them out to everyone you see. There are scores of people doing the MSM’s work for them. The people should know the truth. MY GOD……THIS IS AMERICA AND THE MSM IS TRYING TO DENY US THE TRUTH!!!! Please do this for our country..before its too late!!!!
leave it to the media to just keep stiring the pot-Hmmm!!!-the right wing media don’t want Hillary to win the nomination because they know she will win over McCain in the fall and then the Republicans will be out of control , which they have been anyway for the past eight years!!
Go Hillary!!!
The party is hurting it’s self. always eagar to play the race card to their advantage. It’s in their DNA and now “the chickens are coming home to roost”. PK
I used to think I had a job to provide for my family , now I find my job is to support a Bonus for oil CEO’S . Like many tough choices like eat or buy gas , pay heat bill or buy gas . Such is the tough coices between Obama ,Clinton, and McCain . Einee, Minee, Miney, Mo …, which is the least of 3 evils ?? Many , many distractions , shady pasts of the candidates . Smoke’n mirrors everywhere, who do we vote for ? Like they say the cream will rise to the top come Nov. , when the people speak .
How can this not be about race, when, for the first time in history is getting 92%, 92%! of the votes from one group of people. Please explain to me how 92 % of this group know who he is, what he stands for, and some history of his past, and not just the color of both the voter and the campaigners skin.
The statement that the Clintons are racists coming from a disgruntled black person is definitely playing the race card.
It is disgusting!!!!!
That is as low as anyone can get in a election. Say what you will about them but they are NOT RACISTS.
Hillary is being supported by many distinguished Afro Americans even though the black voters have let her down, it is not because she is a racist but because they are.
They want Hillary to step aside and stop running so their black brother can have the nomination even though he is not ready or worthy.
The truth about him is now coming out and people are having ‘buyers remorse’, it is pretty definite he can never win this Presidential election, so perhaps he can stop playing the race card and step aside and let Hillary have the nomination she is a much better candidate.
Operation Chaos roles on.
Commandant Ell Rushbo would be proud
i actually think because of his inexperience (plus he has been the darling of the media) has basically doomed the democratic party. another 6 yrs in the senate & he might be a viable candidate. he is also quite vague in his so-called “change” campaign.
I do not agree with the people who say that America is not ready for a woman or a black person becoming President. I am a Republican (not rich or from the South, by the way), and I would vote for Condi in a heart beat. You know what America is not ready for? Someone winning JUST because he/she is a woman or black. Hillary outlines her plans, but they are based in a fantasy world that she knows will appeal to the uninformed voter. Obama does not even present a real plan, he just outlines something that sounds “hopeful” and “inspiring,” and that explains why 70% of students registered Democrat vote for him, because they have not tasted real life. People are voting for them because they are either uninformed or like the fact that they are minorities in Presidential history. But you know what, they both are poor excuses for candidates. McCain was not my Republican choice, but to vote for either Hilldog or Obama would be a crime against humanity.
When will Rep. James Clyburn and his brothers realize that race is NOT involved in every decision made by the white man. Obama does not have the resume’ to qualify for the presidency of this Great Nation. Bill Clinton may be a lot of things, but he is NOT a racist.
I understand that 36% of white men in PA voted for Obama over Clinton. While only 10% of black men voted for Clinton over Obama. Who are the racists???
It comes down to this…Obama has by now realized that it is just that-race, that has kept him in the contest so far and that the job is just TOO BIG for him. I think he is too afraid to admit it in front of all his disillusioned supporters and his WIFE.
When will Rep. James Clyburn and his “brothers” realize that race is NOT involved in every decision made by the white man. Bill Clinton is a LOT of things, but he is NOT a racist. Obama lacks the resume’ to lead this Great Country.
Exit polls indicate that 63% of white men in PA voted for Hillary. The blacks call that racist. Could it be that Hillary is the BETTER candidate?
Exit polls also indicate that 90% of black men in PA voted for Obama. Would that be “reverse racism”?
Use your brain for a change.
Ron Paul is the only hope for this country. His campaign and his message of freedom doesn’t divide but it brings all people together. He will end these sick immoral wars, the sick immoral taxes on us to pay for it, and bring our country back to following the constitution like we should have been.
Strange how this member of Congress feels this way, but has no mention of the bias male chauvinistic converage of Hillary’s campaign, or how that would effect the Dems chances in Nov. when women all over the contry react to this in the GE Or for that matter how FL and MI still being unresolved will effect the GE.
It is ironic that Clyburn thinks that the Clintons are hurting the Democrats chances. Hillary pretty much had this election sewn up until Barack decided to run. The idea that she should back down because they want Barack completely negates what I want and others like me.
I personally do not believe that Barrack Obama is electable. Period. End of Story. The Republicans want him to be the candidate because he is so very vulnerable on many levels. He will not carry the popular vote.
The fact the 85 - 90% of black people have supported him is distressing and clearly speaks to me that having black people in the white house will not serve the nation as a whole. They are the racists. This is not working in their favor at all.
Dont worry about that, if Obama wins the nomination because of ignorant remarks like yours, McCain has my vote 100%. I cant wait to see your buddy obama fail! No wonder the Dems cant win the white house, wait one did, it was, let me think. oh yeah, BILL CLINTON! Remeber him? Because after Reagan, everyone thought the democrats was a joke, but Bill gave them a name once again. Dont forget IT!
Clyburn is guilty of character assassination by charging Hillary with these bogus claims; She has been the one to say that no matter what who gets the nomination, the party will unite in November, and she went on to say if Obama got the nomination, she would do everything in her power to help him get elected! It shows how blind some Obama supporters have been! She believes she is the best candidate and has a strong chance of winning and that’s why she stays. She doesn’t need the job of president for monetary reasons - her taxes show she can make a better living away from the oval office. Clyburn acts like the office is “owed” to Obama and the fact that she hasn’t conceded, she is inflicting damage control; This is pathetic and coming from a highly regarded politician (that Clyburn is supposed to be) shows his true colors and more and more of Obama’s weak associations. I’ve not heard Obama say he will do everything in his power to get Hillary elected if she gets the nomination!
Hey gang,
Let’s do some soul searching and heart felt believing that both Barack and Hillary are good people and deserve to be heard.
Sounds like Bill is going to be more than just a bed partner to Hillary and the pillow talk will be altered by the big money people that have been contributing 100’s of millions of dollars to Mr. Bill’s Presidntial Library.
So if you dicide to vote for Hillary you are bringing a lot of world influence with her through her husband.
Personally I have read all of Barack’s books and have tried to maintain an open mind regarding this whole long drawn out primary campaign. The more Hillary and Bill are exposed the more I am determined to vote for Barack Obama, he has won fair and square regardless of how she wants to make the numbers be real for her.
Bill Clinton bent the rules when he was president and we don’t need his wife to follow suit when he is First Husband!
Peace,
Jim
Hillary is the Most Competent, most Ability to hold the position and win the Presidency.
Obama will be fodder for the republican party machine. He has proved his weakness and inability to stand up under pressure. Even though the DNC would like him as a puppet. The black leaders to serve their agenda. He is not the one to lead this country.
There is a lot of truth to what Clyburn is saying. As a Black person Hilliary Clinton has zero chance I me voting for her now. Hilliary wants to be the front runner by any means necessary and what she and the entire Democratic party needs to remember is that they CANNOT and WILL NOT win without the Black vote. Black people typically vote Democrat and this is a mistake! If Hillary wins McCain has my vote as the lesser of two evils.
I think the term “race card” needs some clarification before it starts getting applied to every mention of race, if it isn’t too late already. I gather that one “race card” means making white people feel guilty for oppressing blacks.
It seems to me that Clyburn is using a different racial threat or “card” here, that if blacks don’t get the man they want, they will be mobilized to leave the Dems en masse. This doesn’t seem to agree with exit polls or the history of post-primary consolidation. Nor does it seem any different to me than the implication I think Clyburn drew from Bill Clinton’s remarks, that a black candidate might be popular in the south and not be a good candidate in the general election. Whatever Bill may have meant, Clyburn seems to see an implied threat that therefore to win they should vote white and he’s threatening back, saying the blacks will vote white for the other party.
Bill and Hillary will destroy the Democratic Party before they succumb to defeat. Black people supported the Clintons for years.
Even some Blacks even referred to Bill Clinton as the first Black President ( I myself, hated that statement). Black people always supported all the white candidates, they held all the offices, ran the Country, Had all these wars and involvement in other Countries wars. This Country , is a multi-racial mix of all Nationalities of people. It is not a Country of the whiteman rules forever.Whitemen, have been running this Country for hundreds of years, on other races backs. Everything , changes .And I think we need a new change at the top. Maybe , even give the whitehouse a new paint job. Maybe a beige color to deflect the Sun a little. This is not a white world or a plantation, or some new land where only the whiteman knows whats right or wrong.
Where everyone is willing to let one race of people rule over everybody else forever. Let’s have a fair race, and no doubt , there will be a new face in the whitehouse or just maybe the Beigehouse. or ( the crib).
I hope they both go down in flames and take McCain with them.
NO Clinton is not hurting the Dem. Party, the Democratic party is hurting the democratic party.
I think Hillary should go on. For that person who said do the math, well, a win is a win regardless. She has won the bigger states, while he has swept very small states. If you actually do the math, in a real presidential race, Hillary would have more support. As for Obama, he will continue his “great” speeches everytime people figure him out. He is a joke and I hope he doesn’t become president, but who knows, many insecure fools succumb to his speeches. Read between the lines people!
Anyhow, it’ll be McCain for me if Hillary doesn’t get it! I rather have a person I know the dirt up front than to have a person with so many hidden things in the closet. He is also marked off on my list by association…
I am sick of all of it. This kind of politics is not good for our country, at this time, I do not know who to trust or vote for. I believe our country has turned into a place of greed.
When did a Barrack’s supporter ever turn to become sincerely and seriously concerned abt the fate of his competitor?
Sorry mate, call it anything pot kettle back. The Clyburn ain’t no helping to unify the Dems, heis taking a cheap shot and he ain’t no better then anyone of them. Yeah, politics is dirty.
Shame on you!
So James what you are saying we have to give Mr Obama our blessing. He has not earned our vote or our respect. Are you saying the blacks will punish the party if we don’t let the under qualified Mr Obama. Why would we want him on the ticket he can no longer win in the general election. We will be putting Hillary the more qualified person on our ticket period.
As a Black man in a Democratic Society, it appears to me that we have gotten to a point that is reprehensible for all races. It is plan and clear that the so called “Older Generation of Black Leaders” are the ones that keep making the charges that this is a race issue when it is certainly not. Whatever happen to comparison and contrast without always dissecting and saying that it is a Black and White Issue. Rep Clyburn is not a Speaker for me as well as any Black Leader that try to say Black People this and that. Not one time has my phone ring, my doorbell rung, or a letter in the mail asking can I speak for you. No body speaks for me unless I ASK YOU TO!!!!!! As well as most, I’m a well Educated Black man who happens to be a Human Being who knows what is in his own mind. To all who elect to Speak about Black People and their struggles, Leave me out unless you have my Permission and by the way, I’m not from South Carolina as Rep Clyburn, But from Arkansas and last time I checked he was not my Representative.
Elect a woman to the white house. She will do it faster, better and spend less money.
Women unite!. Hillary 08
I personally think this Democratic Primary has dissolved the complacency that we have seen in past election years. I think the race is healthy and in no way will harm the party.
It is disappointing to me that Obama and his supporters are always playing the race card. Everything the Clintons say is twisted and I do not believe they were racial remarks. THis is what is hurting the party. THe candidate who wants to unite the Country is the very one that is trying to divide it.
It is unfair to expect Hillary to drop out of the race, it is too close. GIve the rest of America the chance to have their say.
If H. Clinton is the democratic nominee, I will not go two steps out of my bedroom to vote for her.
How is it that this man and Obama’s camp continue to accuse first President Clinton and now Hillary supporters and voters of being racist because they didn’t vote for Obama? WHAT???? 98% of black voters voted for Obama - THAT’s not racist???? I’m not and never will vote for Obama based on issues and what’s coming out of his closet but with this kind of racism AGAINST Hillary, I’d vote for her based on race alone just to even the field!!!
The Obama camp would love for Hillary to bow out of the campaign, but she has every right to stay in the campaign for as long as she wants. Hillary is a fighter. If Obama wins the nomination, then 99% of blacks will vote for him. That is no different than any other election where blacks vote for Democrats like sheep. The race will be won by the non-black voters. Clinton supporters have watched Obama and hate what they see. They will either not vote or will vote for McCain, who is nothing more than a liberal Democrat.
And it amazes me that more people don’t see how this BS Clinton is doing hurts the party. Democrats came into this primary wanting the Democrats to win. Now Democrats are like a bunch of spoiled children who are stomping their feet and poking their lip out if things don’t go their way. John McCain is looking good because there is no Democratic nominee, and Obama has to spend more time warding off Clinton when he could be taking on McCain. Clinton should be taking on McCain also, but she’s too busy trying to smear Obama. I wonder how football fans would feel if they were watching their team in the Superbowl, one wide receiver was about to catch the ball and a teamate slammed into him trying to to catch it because he wanted to be the touchdown scoring hero. Instead the ball goes up i
