I definitely agree with Howard Dean’s comment on Sunday morning that this incessant coverage
of Reverend Wright by the Right Wing Media is definitely race-baiting and divisive. I would go further to say it is just plain racist. Obama is a tolerant man who believes in the priciples of the civil rights movement as led by Martin Luther King , Jr not the Black Panthers.
Wrights comments reflect the fear of many blacks that they have no representation or friend in the US government. Did anyone forget the recent history of blacks in the 60’s being hosed in the streets and set upon by attack dogs for asking to be treated as humans?
Obama has no direct experience with the black experience. He came to know of our history through his conversations with Reverend Wright. He also came to know of the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ from reverend Wright. In that he came to save us ALL–not just white people from evil.
If the right wing so-called Christians in this country can’t practice tolerance and forgiveness
then they are the hypocrites–not Obama. In Jesus words “You will know them by their fruit.”

Rev Wright is a non player in the presidential race. Listen to the messages of Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton and not the sideshow presented by the media.

We MUST change the present way things are being done. Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton both have a message of hope for the American people who are under the burden of the Iraq war, unemployment, housing foreclosure and out of control gas prices.

Rev Wright may have come under the influence of dementia that may have come on over the last twenty years. His performances in the last few weeks may support my theory. His behavior seems to have become more bizarre between his first days of being a pastor and the present. Again, listen to the message of the candidates, not the non players.

I thought from the first time I heard about his pastor, that he was going to try to use Obama’s
campain for the presidency to farther his own cause. What quick and better way to get Wright’s message out.

People do not change over night. Change is gradual. Rev. Wright didn’t change over night either. Obama knows this.

In one of Sen. Obama’s speaches he said “Rev. Wright is my friend, like a member of my family, he has been my MENTOR” and now he says he has never been his spiritual mentor. Well then does this mean he was his “frame my beliefs mentor”.

Sen. Obama seem to have a hard time expressing himself, he hesitated a great deal when I saw this speach on video. If you have to chose your wording that carefully, then it makes me wonder just how outraged a person really is.

I am proud of Obama and his speech. He has shown to be an honorable man/ politician. We should judge him on his views and not that of his Pastor.

I am a white conservative who normally votes Republican. I applaud Mr. Obama’s speech; he has done the right thing to repudiate his pastor’s ill-conceived and racist comments. Mr. Obama is correct in saying that attention is being diverted from America’s real problems. It’s time to leave the Reverend Wright, and his offensive remarks, behind. Let’s talk about the real issues: high energy, food, and medical costs, how to extricate ourselves from Iraq yet deal with terrorism, America’s poor educational standards, and so on.

Isn’t it possible that Obama was being truthful and candid about a really complex relationship rather than just being political? I challenge those who dismiss Obama’s recent press conference to ask themselves when do you sincerely believe a politician’s words? Have you ever heard or read anyone as truly candid about as race and religion as Senator Barack Obama? I for one have never heard ANY politician be as thoughtful about these complex subjects that affect every one of us in complex ways. Who among us has not disagreed with his or her pastor? Who among us has not also experienced the frustration of being written off because of the color of your skin? Or your professed religious or poliical affiliation? Obama IS a great educator and leader precisely because he is trying, however imperfectly, to find common ground across our differences. Why is that objectionable?

It seems that Obama did not listen to the Rev Wright in church for 20 years. Why would Wright say that Obama says one thing to the American people and another behind closed doors?

It seems the media is as confused as Mr. Obama’s stance on Rev. wright. When the good reverend fist burst onto the scene he was like family that Mr. Obama could not dissown and even defended him and the media complied. People talked about only hearing soundbites and that should not be attributed to Mr. Obama. Now we’ve heard more than just soundbites from the good reverend and everyone including Mr. Obama have a different take on Rev. Wright including the media. But are we to think Barack has only heard soundbites for twenty years? I think not. He defended him until he saw that it was damaging his campaign. Now the good reverend goes “WRIGHT” under the bus with Mr. Obama’s good old white grandmother. Isn’t politics lovely????

What an irony!! Not long ago Mr. Wright referred to President Bush as a grade C student, and yet it is him (Mr. Wright) who speaking on national television showed himself in front of millions of peoples as a grade E student.

it doesn’t take a genious to see he’s just backstepping to save face(saying what he has to say)i think he was told he had to make this speech if he wanted the continued aid of the democratic party in the future.it wasn’t many days ago that he said denouncing rev.wright would be like denouncing the black community.
