McCain Ambushed With Obscene Question at Town Hall Event

Border

An audience member ambushed John McCain on Thursday at an otherwise placid town hall meeting in Des Moines, Iowa, with a surprise question about whether he had ever called his wife by an obscene term.

The man stood up and first said he wanted to ask the Arizona senator about a “mental health and mental health care” concern.

“Previously I had been married to a woman who was very verbally abusive to me,” the man said. He paused and asked, “Is it true that you called your wife a c***?”

The crowd booed, and McCain responded:

“No, no — you don’t wanna, you don’t wanna. You know, it’s a great thing about town hall meetings, sir,” he said. “But we really don’t — there’s people here who don’t respect that kind of language. So I’ll move onto the next questioner in the back.”

Secret Service agents escorted the man out of the building.

The question came out of a new book called “The Real McCain,” by Cliff Schecter, that alleges McCain publicly called his wife Cindy that word in 1992. The McCain campaign has called the book “trash journalism” and called the alleged incident a “complete fabrication.”

FOX News’ Mosheh Oinounou contributed to this report.

the obama gang hasn’t seen nothing yet.when the republicans get done portraying obama as an anti-american terrorist loving far left liberal he is not going to stand a chance in hell getting elected.they haven’t even began with his self admitted drug use.i believe they’re saving that little gem.we democrats would have a better chance with hillary!

Could it be that Senator McCain ’s integrety is so challenged at times that his patience just can’t indure . Also short temper tells l me to look back and see the things he has suffered that might have caused him to react like he does. He seems to have conquered it well, now Give him a chance, he has been through what most of us can’t possibly understand and he is not about to complain about.

Anyone can see it was another democratic hit job! This man knew exatcly what he was doing and was hoping that the media would take it and run with it. I wonder who put him up to it? Duh…

Personally, I have a hard time believing McCain called his wife that. I believe in treating women with the highest of regards, but, honestly, how does an accusation by a member of the drive-by media of McCain referring to his wife in such a way - in 1992, mind you - have any bearing on his worthiness of the White House. It wasn’t long before ‘92 that Obama - admittedly - was snorting cocaine. These things happened 15-20 years ago, and use of illegal drugs would seem to me to have more bearing on a Presidency than an accusation of cursing a woman.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he had done that — that’s vintage McCain. Abuse anyone who crosses him. We don’t need someone like him in the White House.

Did McCain also engage in a fist fight with Rick Renzi a fellow republican due to a disagreement. He did not refute that when asked on fox news. What is going on.

I have a feeling that Cindy McCain, while appearing soft spoken and demure, would knock her husbands nose to the other side of his head if he ever said something like that.

Anyone can ask stupid questions at town hall meetings…..even questions where the premise of the question is false.
