Campaign Aide: Clinton Lent Herself $6.4 Million in Past Month
WASHINGTON — Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton lent her presidential campaign $6.4 million over the past month, her campaign said Wednesday, underscoring the financial advantage held by her rival, Barack Obama.
The money more than doubled Clinton’s personal investment in her bid for the Democratic nomination. She gave her campaign $5 million earlier this year.
A campaign aide said Clinton gave her campaign another $5 million on April 11, more than a week before the Pennsylvania primary. She then again dipped into her personal wealth for $1 million last week and $425,000 on Monday, one day before the North Carolina and Indiana primaries.
Clinton’s campaign reported raising $10 million online after her Pennsylvania victory on April 22. Evidently, the money was not enough and her fundraising was unable to keep up with her expenses heading into Tuesday’s contests.
Moreover, Obama has routinely outspent her in primary after primary and has shown little difficulty tapping his vast network of donors. He spent more than $7 million on advertising head of Tuesday’s primaries in North Carolina and Indiana to her nearly $4 million.
According to the latest campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission, Obama began the month of April with $42 million in the bank for the primary to Clinton’s $9.3 million.
But Clinton had debts of $10.3 million at the start of the month, much of it money owed to her main polling, phone banking and advertising consultants.
Hillary, Lending (not giving) money to her campaign, assumes the money will be repaid. What will the source of the money be for the repayment?
I was never great in Math, but loaning yourself money, out of money, and not paying bills seems like that will add up to more trouble for United States. Where is the accountability? Where is the sensibility? In fact, where is the ability? Hate to say it, 3 candidates and no good choices.
11.4 million dollars loaned to herself….HMMM….and she’s supposed to be understanding of the plight of the middle class? How rich does someone need to be before they no longer understand the struggles of a family of four living on what society deems as a reasonable wage (i.e. - $30 or $35,000 a year)? How exactly does she pay herself back? Is it with interest? Does she still get it back when she loses?

To Senator I say good try, though I completely support you and wish you the best, I do feel it’s time to relinquish. Not because of the reasons listed above, Senator Obama’s campaign is backed by the very right and they decided to swift vote you out of this nomination process, and they tried to steal Indiana from you last night with the mysterious late night count to try and undermine you. But take heart many of us including myself are leaving the Democratic Party due to the way you have been treated. Take heart though if the man had to spend $280 million dollars to date to beat you in his own party imagine how much he will have to spend in the general. Lastly, there are no caucuses in the general election so he will have the convince the people the old fashioned way. EARN IT!! When it comes to the final hours I believe that experience will win out in the fall and McCain will win. Good luck and God Bless. Newly Republican.
To all the people wondering where Obama’s money came from: It came from people like me, who donated $10-$20, whatever I could afford. Millions of people, that’s where it came from. People, not corperations.

If the Clintons have as much money as they say they have, why does she loan the money. Romney didn’t loan he spent his own money. The Clintons would rather that other people pay for the campaign. They want it both ways. Rich and famous.
well well i just cannot understand if the shoe was on the other foot what would be the tone among the so called fighters for the people cause, lending money from herself to fight her cause not for the people. the people sopke months ago the clintons are makeing a mess of things and the media is helping them do it. it is so clear what is going on .
