Hillary Supporters Scream ‘Sexism!’ What do you think?
Should Democrats vote for the “bro” (short for ‘brother’) or should they vote for the “ho” (short for a word I’d rather not write on the FNC website)? Think I’m being offensive? Take a look at these nearly 30 unofficial pro-Obama campaign t-shirts.
Hillary Clinton supporters say this kind of product is proof: the first female to run for President of the United States has been diminished by sexism, which has been pervasive in the media, on the campaign trail and embodied in products sitting on store shelves, like the Hillary nutcracker.
Geraldine Ferraro, one of Clinton’s biggest supporters, takes it one step further. She says that Barack Obama himself is “terribly sexist.”
So what is she referring to? It all seemed to start with a song. On the night of the Iowa caucuses, Obama’s campaign played a rap song by Jay Z at the victory party. The title was “99 Problems.” But playing a song wasn’t the problem—the lyrics were: “I got 99 problems, but a bitch ain’t one.” Then during a debate he quipped that he thought Clinton was “likable enough.”
Clinton backers saw this as condescending.
Clinton supporters also say she’s been the victim of a relentless campaign to show her looking and sounding silly with unflattering photos and audio tapes of her laugh, otherwise known as her “cackle.” They say Obama doesn’t get the same treatment-instead he gets praise.
Hillary told the Washington Post: “The manifestation of some of the sexism that has gone on in this campaign is somehow more respectable, or at least more accepted, and . . . there should be equal rejection of the sexism and the racism when it raises its ugly head. It does seem as though the press at least is not as bothered by the incredible vitriol that has been engendered by the comments by people who are nothing but misogynists.”
Hillary backers, in part, blame the media and they are protesting NBC studios and stations in five states.
They point to a comment by NBC’s Chris Matthews who said Hillary wouldn’t have her job today if her husband hadn’t fooled around. He eventually apologized.
Clinton discussed the overall issue with The New York Times. She said, “It’s been deeply offensive to millions of women. I believe this campaign has been a groundbreaker in a lot of ways. But it certainly has been challenging given some of the attitudes in the press, and I regret that, because I think it’s been really not worthy of the seriousness of the campaign and the historical nature of the two candidacies we have here.”
Today Ferraro told Fox News’ Shep Smith today, “these all seem like little things. Add them all together and they spell sexism.”

I’m a business owner and 65. I have lived through the struggles of earning equal respect in the business world. The atmosphere today will set us back to ground zero! If we measure every word and action no-one will function with any normalacy. When you pause to call everything you don’t think helps you disrespectfull, you’ve got thin skin! Hillary and these other women backing her should stop to consider the possibility that people may not like them or what they are doing. Thats not sexiest! Thats an opinion! This whole issue makes me feel that all these years I have fought for respect by holding myself chin-up, now has become a whine of ,”stop picking on me” Quite sad!
To the person that said the people who are making the unofficial Campaign shirts/nutcrackers - You say they are white yet you say no racism? Isn’t that a bit hypocritical? Get a clue.
we are from vegas and we are also not watching msnbc and cnn, they were too bias when it came to hillary and obama was handled with kitt gloves. I am voting for a president not for someone to inspire me, when i need inspiration i go to church.
REASON WHY I WONT VOTE FOR OBAMA!
Obama: a man who took his daughters to church on Sundays to hear bigotry and racial sermons.
A man who will only accept Florida and Michigan at the democratic convention, and yet he is suppose to be someone who wants to unite the Democratic Party and the country.
A man who only disowned his minister after the minister told the world the truth, not because he disagreed with his ministers hateful sermons.
A man who is married to a woman who has no respect for this country and yet wants to be first lady of the country that she has no pride in and criticism of it.
Am I the only one that sees something wrong with this picture?
As you stated the UNOFFICAL Campaign shirt of the Obama campaign. I bet the person(s) that are making and distributing the shirts and nutcrackers are WHITE!!! No racism or sexism when it comes to the GREEN.
I don’t know how Clinton backers can see sexism happening, however, can not see racism going on. Exit polls show 21% of voters of Clinton voted due to race. For Clinton supporters keep truth in you facts, Hillary is not the first female to run fot presidency.
Im surprised that this is coming from the Clintons! I recall them saying, just a few weeks ago, “If you cant stand the heat then get out of the kitchen! If you cant handle this then how can you handle the general election?” Hillary’s ability to play the victim role is amazing. Its true that there may be some sexism going on but there is also racism involved in this campaign. 22 percent of voters in Kentucky said race was a factor in their decision, and thats just the people who admitted it to a total stranger! This shows how ignorant her “base” is. The truth is, whether we like it or not, is that all candidates agreed Fl and MI would not count. Based on the original rules, she cant win and its not sexist to say that the woman in this campaign was beaten. However, it is sexist to say that HRC can fold my shirts and wash my dishes. Some people have made comments like that, but not Barack Obama
Hey Fran,
As a Republican I fully agree with you. I just want to thank all Democrats like you for allowing John McCain to win the general election. Hey….four more years of war, the sliding dollar, high gas tax, slumping economy, and rising food price is something I rather go through than vote for Obama. Once again I want to thank you and your other Hillary-or-no-one-else Democrats for giving us a victory in the fall.
As a teacher of 40 years and a mother of two daughters, a lawyer and an engineer, I am saddened by the prevailing attitude toward women in this country. Hillary Clinton, as well as, my daughters and I understand this system in which women have to be twice as qualified and work ten times as hard as our male counterparts in order to succeed. Much more is expected of us. And in our diligence, harsh criticism is often levied.
Hillary has been criticized by the media in cartoons, on daily tv news casts, in newspapers, and magazines while Obama seemingly has had the protection of the press. He has enjoyed positive coverage with little emphasis on his lack of experience, his values, or his poor speaking ability. He is the chosen candidate who has been given much more free air time and who has often been portrayed as the “rock star” candidate. No one has mentioned that the planks of his platform come directly from Senator Clinton’s. As in the debates, he speaks after she presents her opinions. Plagarism of ideas seems to be accepted not only by the press but by his supporters as well.
After reading and watching the news since the primary campaign began, I am not only saddened but frightened about the power of the media in this country. What ever happened to unbiased reporting?
Sexism and Racism are two of the biggest problems we face in our country today. Hillary has been mistreated in the majority of her campaigning. I will never forget when she was giving her West Va. victory speech the news didn’t play its entirety. They immediately went to Senator Obama. Also, when John Edwards endorsed Obama, I can’t believe the american people couldn’t see through that staged garbage. It was a calculated plan to offset Hillary victory in West Va., and to take people attention away from her. You are indeed a sexist, Obama and I am hurt the way you are allowing your campaign to be ran.
Obama has been pushed onto the voters since the beginning of this campaign by all of the media. What ever happened to the media just reporting the news, and leaving their personal opinions and comments out of it. Had Hillary followed the urging of the media to drop out, we would not have seen the biggest win of 41% in WV, and 35% in KY. The voters are sending a very loud message, and if we want to win back the whitehouse, the DNC better not ignore them.
