Washington GOP Takes Heat for Video Targeting Michelle Obama
Democrats are pushing back against yet another Web video that targets Michelle Obama for saying earlier this year that she is proud of her country “for the first time.”
The Washington State Republican Party released the video just as Barack Obama’s wife joined Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire, a Democrat, on Thursday for a fundraiser.
The video was nearly identical to one put out by the Tennessee GOP in May. Like that video, the Washington one intersperses clips of Michelle Obama’s remarks with clips of Washingtonians explaining why they are proud of their country.
“These shameless attacks by the state Republican Party have no place in our politics. If John McCain is serious about running a ‘respectful’ campaign on the issues, he and Republican leaders … will denounce this tasteless attack ad and tell the state Republican Party to pull the plug on it immediately,” Gregoire said in a statement.
McCain’s campaign quickly distanced itself from the ad.
“Senator McCain has spoken out very clearly that neither spouse should be a target during this campaign,” McCain adviser Nicolle Wallace said.
Michelle Obama’s comments were made at Wisconsin campaign stops in mid-February.
There she said: “For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback.”
She later clarified that she meant she was proud of the way Americans are engaging in the political process, and she said she’s always been proud of her country.

If you want to dig into Cindy McCain’s drug using issues - then you had better be prepared to do the same for Barack Obama - and he’s the one who wants to be president! From what I understand, Cindy McCain became addicted to prescription pain medication that she was prescribed following an accident, which has become an epidemic in this country. On the other hand, Barack Obama used illegal drugs by CHOICE!
I wish fox would publish my comments. Obama and his wife are fair game. They have gotten away with murder from the media. The media are following them, to Europe like a bunch of puppies. I want to know about character, lets judge McCain by his character.
How come NO ONE ever mentions the reason he left his wife, who stood by him through one of the roughest times in his life.
This is the reason America is degrading the way it, because we are lacking morals, and no one cares.
Is this now considered normal, and ok, for the leader of a conservative party, who touts the family, to leave his wife who he had no grounds to leave, Her and their mutual friends all said they were shellshocked when they received the news.
But she didnt deny him a divorce.
The ex-wife showed more character the he did.
She (un-selfishly) let him do what he wanted to do, even though he didnt have any grounds for divorcing her to go do them.
And he (selfishly) broke the vows he made to her and God, because he was lusting after some young girl…
WHAT KIND OF CHARACTER IS THAT….
People who have mastered covering up who they are, by masking thier competitor as evil. Are the ones who lack the character to lead our country.

The GOP better brace themselfs if this is how they want to fight. They could talk about McCain’s leaving his crippled wife Carol and having an affair with Cindy. Lets see an ad about Cindy stealing drugs. Lets see what she bought with her credit card last month for seventy-five thousand. That ought to play well when people can’t pay their bills and losing their homes. How about McCains two nfl teams he named for his captures. Seems something like that you would not mix-up. Perhaps the whole story is a lie–like snipper fire. I don’t want to see these types of attacks, however, the GOP needs a punch in the face!!!!!!

Wasn’t the words “REALLY PROUD” part of that statement???? Furthermore - McCain said the same thing when he was a POW - he wasn’t proud of America either and for the first time he felt proud was when he was a POW - WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE???? Did he have a right to say that??? Maybe!!! Why isn’t McCain’s word being SPUN in the Meda????
And on top of that - there is not ONE PERSON in this country who is PROUD of America 100% of the time - does that make them less of a PATRIOT??? PRIDE and PATRIOTISM are two different things and many - including the ones running the ad - are trying to put them together…. PLEASE!!!!
And then Obama said …You can’t say anything about me, my wife, my minister, my life. You can’t talk about my kids, my drugs or my white grandmothers hugs. Don’t ask me what I know, I was only built for show. I may be an ‘empty suit’, but I don’t give a hoot. Cause I’m black and I’m proud, so pointing a finger is not allowed.
